After getting up at the crack to get Bronx his money, we came back and hit the bed harder than ever. I wasn’t planning to sleep that long, only to take a brief nap. But according to the time on my phone, that didn’t happen. Six names. Six men. That's how many Vegas wrote down last night. It took him all of three hours to find the douche bags that Shine named. His work was amazing, seeing as though he only had the last names of each of the dirty cops. Still, I knew he would never forget their faces. I thought we would sleep in and wait 'til nightfall to seek out these demons. But Shine was up early, already dressed and brushing his teeth in the hotel bathroom. I could hear the water running in the sink as well as the shower. As I peeled back the covers and scooted off the bed, I knew he was setting it up for me. I stared out the window at the city full of sunlight, wondering if those streets were as cold as they looked.

"Hey. Afternoon, bright eyes." Shine smiled as he exited the bathroom. “

  "Hey," I whispered softly.

"You, uh, wanna get dressed? It's gonna be brick ass out there so you might wanna dress warm. I don’t know how long we'll be out there." He positioned the pieces on the table finding a place to stuff them in his clothing.

"Oh...yeah. Right." I tussled my hair and headed for the bathroom but was startled by a tug at my arm.

“Aye, if you’re having doubts about going out with me, you don’t have to. I’m not trying to pressure you into doing something you really don’t want to do.” His voice soothed.

“I’m cool, baby. I’m good.” I assured him.

“Are you sure? ‘Cause I don’t need you backing out and breaking down at the last minute. Either you’re in or out.” Shine licked his lips so tastefully. “Once you step in this circle, there ain’t no going back.”

“Who said I wanted to go back?” The disgust was filling my face by the minute.

“Look, I’m just trying to make it easier on both of us if you leave now. You know what I’m saying. You’re a good girl, trying to be bad. Maybe you should just stay good.” He shrugged.

“What? Shine, I’m not leaving you. Don’t ask me to. As a matter of fact, stop thinking I will.” I yanked from his grasp and headed to the bathroom, slamming the door behind me.

This shit was new to me. I hadn’t had a man care about me that much in a long time. I could understand where he was coming from. But I wasn’t backing down from this shit. He needed me and I was the only one he had, who had his back. My hands pressed down on the porcelain sink, blowing steam from my mouth. I wasn’t mad at him, but the situation was killing me. I could hear him pacing outside the door, probably wondering if he should come in and apologize. Honestly, I didn’t want it. I wanted to show him that this shit between he and I was real.

After brushing my teeth and my shower, I exited the bathroom and dug in my suitcase for a pair of jeans and black crop sweater that rested just above my navel. Shine’s eyes were fixated on me as I continued to dress, sliding my bamboo gold hoops on before I laced up my Timbs. I knew what he wanted, but we had not time for that. That didn’t stop me from switching my ass every time I walked past him just to watch him adjust his dick in his pants. I smirked when I caught him. Once I misted myself with Juicy Couture, glided a thick coat of rouge lipstick across my lips and grabbed my fur, we were out.

“Hold up,” I squawked pressing my hand gently against his chest. “Don’t I get a piece? You know, just in case things go bad and I need to defend myself.”

“No. You don’t need that shit on your conscience. I got you. Don’t trip,” He sneered.

“I’m not trippin’. I just want to make sure all grounds are covered.” I smiled. “Listen baby, if we’re going to do this then you’ve gotta trust me. How can I be your right hand man if you won’t put any faith in me?”

“Do you even know how to use a piece? I mean, this here is grown folks business. You being older than me don’t mean shit if you ain’t never busted a gun before.”

“I don’t know how many times I’ve got to tell you. I’m a big girl. I don’t need you to babysit me. Can you just give it to me, Shine?”

“Naw, you might shoot your eye out,” He snickered so hard he damn near busted into tears.

“Did you get a good laugh in? Because I’m dead serious.”

“I know you are. That’s what’s so crazy about the shit. You’re just so damn bad, huh? Big bad Bonnie,” He huffed and smirked.

“Badder than you, motherfucka.” I playfully gave his shoulder a shove, before crossing my arms.

“Fine, Bonnie. You really want a gun, huh?” Shine shot me the short look as he walked over to the table and pulled out the duffle bag they were stored in. “I’m gonna give you one. But don’t get scared holding it or think it’s a fucking toy. If you gonna hold it, then make sure you know the consequences behind that.”

He pulled out the smallest gun his mind could find and loaded it as I watched. It pissed me off that I was getting this little old school looking revolver type of thing and he was packing with all the good heat. Shine was ready to go all out and all I was going to be prepared to do was be the lookout. What could I do with that little piece of shit but put a scar on their ass? It was cool though. I would be glad to at least be able to protect myself if it came to that. Eventually he was going to have to start respecting my need for steel and me.

“Here. Keep this tucked away in your pants or something where nobody can see it.” Shine handed me the small piece, checking out the disgruntled expression on my face.

“I know what to do with it, Shine. You just make sure all the ones you’ve got on you are secured.”

“I’ve only got two on me. The rest I’m taking with us in the duffle bag. Never know when we might need to re-up. You feel me, boo.” He winked at me.

I loved it when he talked like that, like he was the boss and had everything under control. I tucked the piece down in the back of my jeans and covered it with my sweater. Even though, I was heated by his selection when I left out, by the time I made it down to the car I was over it. Shine handed me the list as he drove out of the parking lot. As I read the list of men, I noticed a name that sounded familiar. I shook it off. It was common and anybody could have had it. Still, it was odder than a coincidence that it was on the list.

“Who are we checkin’ first, baby?” I questioned, staring down at the paper.

“We’re going to work our way from the bottom on up.” Shine grumbled. “You know, you’re the only one who didn’t question me or act crazy hen I told you about my daughter. You didn’t doubt my truth for a second and for that I want to say, thank you.”

“What? Shine, if you say you had a daughter, then you had one. End of discussion.” I replied. “Don’t get mushy on me now motherfucka. We at this jerk in the daylight with a flashlight. Let’s do this.”

I was hyped. Shine laughed as I danced in my seat. All I could think about was if he was on this type of shit and was willing to rob me, what else was he capable of doing? We needed money to get our lives on status and he knew just how to get it, too. I just had to keep him from getting to soft and not wanting to do it anymore. Naw, he needed to stay in that “get money” frame of mind. We had no time for short stopping. My adrenaline pumped harder the closer we came to our first destination.

“These are cops, Shine. They will certainly be strapped.” I didn’t want to sound scared, but we had to think ahead of time about all the angles to take.

  “What you getting scared now?”

“Naw, fool. I’m just saying its daylight so we won’t exactly be hiding and I’m sure they will have bulletproof vests on and shit. We don’t have that. Besides, we don’t even know if they will be alone or not, Shine.”

“You just follow my lead and do what I do. You got it? We don’t need you jumpin’ out doing stuff off impulse. I got this.” He chuckled.

  “But Shine—“

&n
bsp; “Bonnie, quit trying to do too much. I’m not about to have you in the line of fire,” He roared as we pulled up three houses down from where the first cop lived, Kelsey Davis. “As a matter of fact, you sit here. If I’m not back in ten minutes, you pull this motherfucka off and go back to your mother’s. Forget all about me and forget all about this shit. Get your shit out that hotel room and bounce. You hear me?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I hear you loud and clear.” It pissed me off but he knew if he was dead he couldn’t protect me.

His mission would be pointless to me in his eyes for me to continue. I didn’t have a problem avenging his death or his daughter’s. My life, as I knew it, was over. What did I have to look forward to? A mundane life living up under my mother while she force-fed me potential suitors that would take care of me. I didn’t think so. Just like my last one did, right? No fuck that. I was tired of living my life the way others wanted me to. All of my life, I had done what was right and righteous in the eyes of society. I never did anything in the eyes of me. Shine exited the car and disappeared across the street.

I was chilling. I knew he would go in there and handle business and we would be able to kill two jerks in one day, maybe. Hell, I had the right mind to run through all of these assholes in one swoop. Fuck sleep. We could work through the night giving these dudes the business and steal enough money to be on a flight to Aruba by the morning. Maybe we could even go to Venezuela and live happily ever after, screaming fuck the world. As I smoked the last duct of the leftover blunt from the ashtray, I began to question what would happen if things didn’t go as planned. That’s when reality set in that we were embarking on some dangerous shit. We were playing Russian roulette with our lives.

“Hmm. Better dead than alive, I guess.” The smoke escaped my lips filling the car, making it foggy.

I watched the clock like a hawk. Mere minutes had passed and it felt like hours, quite possibly days, sitting in that car with the heat on blast. I couldn’t even bring myself to listen to the radio because I was so caught up in what was going on with him. I was anxious. If only he could walk back to the car and assure me that everything went according to plan. My leg shook impatiently. I bit my fingernails, trying not to bite them clean off only leaving nubs. I hated booty digging looking nails, but my nervousness was taking its toll on me. Where the fuck was he?

  Your Butt Is Mine

  Shine

I dipped through the gangway on the side of the house. My hand was itching, damn near bleeding with fury ready to plant two slugs in this nigga’s dome. The pictures of him bleeding all over his floor, played over and over in the back of my mind. I used it as fuel to keep my adrenaline pumping. Through the side window, I peeked in quietly watching his beautiful Caucasian wife and infant son singing to SpongeBob in the background. Tip toeing to the backyard, I made my way up the deck ready to pick the lock. I needed to check out the house to make sure he wasn’t there, before I jetted out.

“Honey. Honey, I told you I’m going to be working back here. Stop calling me,” a voice rang out from the modest sized white garage a few feet away.

It was him. I recognized that frog sounding motherfucka from anywhere. I tip toed to the side door of the garage and pressed my back against the wall. My trigger finger was happy, itching to slug this motherfucka. There were mumbling noises inside, as I pressed my ear to the door. He was in there with one of his buddies. I could only hope that it was one of the ones who wronged my baby, so I could kill both of them motherfuckas at the same time. Less traveling I had to do. My hand pushed the door open, easing the creek that it made.

“Don’t move you bitch ass niggas.” My lips curled over but eyes bucked open. “What the fuck?”

Shock filled my face, as I watched one asshole exit the butthole of the other. Both of them scrambled to fix their pants and pull them over their waists. They looked at me and my AK-47 like they knew it was the last thing they were about to see. I didn’t give a fuck about their disgusting sexual escapades. All I cared about was ending their sorry ass lives. Their attention turned from me onto each other, as Kelsey reached over turning the music up a little louder on his tabletop stereo.

“I guess we didn’t put a good enough hurting on you, huh bro?” Kelsey smirked, removing his sweater from his torso.

“I’m not your fucking bro, you gay ass fuck.” My teeth grinded horribly as I raised the gun aiming for their heads. “But you should’ve killed me, dipshit.”

“Ha, that’s funny. What’s even funnier is the fact that you think you’re ever leaving this motherfucka alive.” Kelsey mocked. “You need to be trembling in fear right now boy. ‘Cause that ass is mine.”

  “You sure as hell aren’t.”

“Man, what the fuck are we waiting for? Let’s just deaden this nigga like we should have done in the first damn place.” The other dude snapped, in a pointing fit.

“Wait a minute? Isn’t your last name Bolo? Jacob Bolo. Yeah, that’s you.” I remembered his name from number four on the list, after studying the names last night. “This shit ain’t in the order that I wanted to keep it in, but hell, fuck all that.”

“Man, fuck you. Let’s waste this fag, Kelsey.”

“Both of y’all shut the fuck up and say your prayers. You’re about to meet your maker.” My finger on the trigger, I was ready and aiming.

CLUCK! My AK flew out of my hand and onto the floor, as did I, sliding inside the garage. I could hear the door shut tightly. It left very minimal light shining through the one small rectangular window, on the side that wasn’t covered by a bed sheet. My head throbbed and my vision was slightly blurred. But that was nothing compared to the beating my stomach took from the cowards’ feet that stomped me to the concrete.

“You thought you were big and bad coming up in here, huh motherfucka?” The man’s spit smelled like straight shit assaulting my nose as he spoke. “Now, we’re gonna do to you what we did to that precious little bitch of yours.”

“You motherfucka!” I got up swinging.

That asshole wasn’t about to talk about my baby like that. They destroyed her life and I was willing to go down swinging to avenge her. I uppercut one of the motherfuckas in the jaw and kicked another one in his dick. The dude with the stank ass breath tried to wrap his brawny arms around my neck but I broke free, elbowing him in the stomach. One tried to grab my legs but I ran for the wall looking for anything I could grab to hit a nigga in his head. The wall was empty. I panicked, realizing I was out numbered and damn near fucked. My AK was lost in the darkness.

“Get off me.” I was loud as hell. “Your wife and kid ain’t shit but a few feet away. If I come up missing, so will they.”

“That’s only if someone is looking for your ass. We’re the police. We can make you disappear just like we did that little sweet mouth bitch of yours.” Kelsey gurgled sinisterly.

I rammed the nigga with my head, sending him flying to the concrete floor on his back. He wailed as I threw blows to each side of his chest cavity. The nigga didn’t even fight back, only throwing his hands up in defense, while his minions struggled to pull me off of him. I wasn’t ready to quit though. My punches moved from his torso to his head, hoping I would hit him so hard that the back of his head bashed into the ground. The jerks finally succeeded in pulling me off of him, tossing me to the ground like an old rag doll. I heard one of the niggas cock my gun, alerting me to its presence and instantly thought I was dead.

“Don’t move motherfucka or this shit is over,” I heard one of them say to me. “Now get your ass up and drop them fucking drawers.”

“Man fuck you, you bitch ass nigga. If you want this ass, you gon’ have to take it when it ain’t breathin’. ‘Cause I’ll be damned if I let a dick ridin’ faggot take my shit,” I roared, spitting on the ground they stood on.

“Bolo, get this nigga’s pants man,” Kelsey ordered as footsteps came my way.

“Get the fuck off me.” I kick
ed that nigga in his stomach before he lunged at me. “Get off me, you gay motherfucka. Get off.”

“You scared yet, boy?” Kelsey cackled as he stood watching.

“Nigga, I don’t fear no man but God.” I retorted.

“Bitch, I am God.” He growled back.

It took everything in me to fight this nigga off, as he struggled to keep my fists from bashing his face in. I felt his big ass bear claws tug at my jeans while I tried to maneuver out from under his heavy weight. He had put all 300 pounds of him on my 180, forcing me into a lock hold that I needed to get out of with the quickness. I could feel his fingers on my outer thighs, pushing my tightly fastened pants down over my ass. The gravel scraped my ass cheeks piercing them as I felt the cool dribble of plasma slide down my skin. I muffed him in the head then pounded on top of it, feeling his tongue make a circular pattern on my pelvic bone.

“What the fuck are you doing?” I fumed still fighting to get him off of me.

The loud crashing of wood echoed through the garage. At first it sounded as if something had fallen from a nearby shelf or something. My eyes cut to the daylight shining through the busted door. Bonnie aimed right for the fun boy who gripped my gun. He laughed at her pointing the small gun to his head, compared to what he was packing. In fact, he laughed so damn hard; he didn’t hear the crack that sent the bullet rocketing out of the barrel and into his dome. Kelsey stood there shitless. His eyes cut over near his stereo as if he was wondering whether or not he had enough time to run over and get it.
