Bonnie & Shine: An Epic Love Tale
Page 10
“Go,” Bonnie taunted with a seductive smirk. “Go on. Get it.”
Kelsey backed up slowly trying to figure out her angle, never taking one eye off of her. Her tongue gently coated her lips, as he extended his arm. She took one step forward before letting off two more shots,a few lead man rippers looking for flesh dividends. Her last victim was cowering on the ground praying he went unnoticed. I had no sympathy for the motherfucka. He tried to get my manhood off the strength of that wack ass dude who was now struggling to breathe.
“Stand up dumb ass and take it like a damn man,” I barked, as I stood reclaiming my equanimity.
“You okay baby?” Bonnie nodded over to me.
“Hell, yeah.” I moved over to her, kissing her sweet sultry lips.
Whether she knew it or not, I was damn happy to see her. I owed her more than she could ever know. I wrapped my hands around her waist without saying a word. It was her world and I was just along for the show right then. Bonnie was in control of the scene and even though I had given her a small gun it was large and in charge in her hands. Not to mention it was scaring the shit out of fatty on his knees.
“You the type of nigga who like to live on your knees,” Bonnie began as we both noticed the sirens in the distance, slowly becoming more apparent. “So your ass is gon’ die the same damn way.”
She got off one shot dead in between his eyes. They didn’t even have time to blink closed, before his body hit the ground like shit from a horse's ass. I pulled her arm letting her know we had to bounce before the cops made it all the way here. Somebody had to have heard the first set of shots and called. I pried my AK from the dead cop’s still fingers before running out the door behind Bonnie. We hid in the gangway. I took a look out to make sure the coast was clear for us to make it to the car.
“Shit. There are three squad cars out there. They are headed this way.” I breathed, bending over to catch my breath and think.
“What the hell do we do, Shine?”
“I don’t know. I don’t know.”
“The car is right there. All we’ve gotta do is make it to the car and we’re home free.” Bonnie wasn’t panicked at all.
It was eerie that her voice was so calm, almost soothing like. I stood to look in her face noticing that she wasn’t scared at all. My breathing slowed. I took another look out there and saw the cops speaking to Kelsey’s wife on the porch. Escape would be a long shot this way. Neither of us would have come out of it alive. We couldn’t go back to the car either, since that car was all we had for transportation. It would have been risky to go at this on foot and stealing a car was not an option since the owner would only report it missing. Bringing more heat to our already fiery situation was out of the question.
“We either go through the alley and wait this out or we go out there guns blazing.” Bonnie sneered as she turned to me. “But if we go through the alley, it will be a hell of a long time before this area is cleared of the crime scene we just left.”
“You got a point. But if we go out guns blazing, they’ve got a sure fire description of the car we’re in,” I interjected.
“So, we could always get another car—“
“Which will be reported when the people find out it’s gone, Bonnie. Baby, we’ve gotta think about this shit.” The thoughts running through my mind were churning a mile a minute.
“No. What you need to do…is fucking follow me.” Bonnie stepped out from the darkness of the gangway and began firing at the porch.
She was crazy, mad with trigger happiness. But I couldn’t leave her. I shot out from out of the darkness, pointing my AK and letting off rounds. The rest of the guns were in the trunk of the car so I was certain to be nothing but deadly with every shot. They shot at us like they had failed the academy a time or two, though some bullets came damn close to having our names imprinted on them. Kelsey’s wife screamed at the top of her lungs as she snatched the gun of the officer who was trying to shove her in the house to safety. She was pregnant and her toddler daughter could be heard crying in the mist of all the bullets flying through the air.
“Bonnie, don’t shoot her. Just keep going to the car. I’ll cover you.” I saw the look in her eyes; she would’ve killed the pregnant woman had I not said anything.
“This bitch is trying to kill us,” Bonnie screeched as she made it to the car, crawling over from the driver’s side leaving the door open for me. “Get the fuck in the car.”
Bonnie started the car as I got in. The remaining two cops were restraining and placing her in cuffs as we peeled out backwards. I kept my eyes on them the entire time. One was radioing in on their shoulder walkie-talkie, while the other was handling Kelsey’s wife. It was only a matter of time before more blue and whites would be on us in a heartbeat. I should have shot her ass, his wife. But I couldn’t bring myself to do to her kids what her husband did to my life. My eyes cut to Bonnie as she let her seat down and crawled in the back seat. She tore out the back seat, gaining access to the duffle bag in the trunk. She tossed the revolver back in the bag, replacing it with a .45.
“You should’ve shot her ass. I would’ve shot her ass.” Bonnie loaded her fresh piece.
“I know.” It was all I could respond. “Good looking out though.”
“I told you I’ve got your back, baby.” Bonnie leaned in giving me a sensuous peck on the cheek. “I don’t know why it was so hard for you to believe me.”
“I believe you now though. That’s all that matters.” It made my dick hard at the reflection of a powerful force we were together. “Two down and five wack ass motherfuckas to go.”
Bonnie cocked her gun in the air, gazing at its beauty. “Rock-a-bye, bitch.”
Thirteen
20 Minutes After
Thanks For Nothing
Bonnie
"Make sure you get all your shit. We gotta be in and out in less than five minutes," Shine spat as he quickly stuck the card in the hotel room door.
Once inside, I did exactly as I was told. I could feel the heat on us like white on rice but they weren't about to catch this pretty ass and send her to jail. Naw, I wasn't going out like that. The only way I was going through the prison system was in a body bag to bury me in that pine box. I could only hope that I was so unrecognizable, that they had no way to identify me to give me to my mom. She didn't deserve to see me lying stiff in a box. None of that would happen if we could catch a flight though.
“We need to get some more money, Shine. And fast too. ‘Cause once we’re done giving these motherfuckas the business, we can be out.” I quickly shoved my clothes down in my suitcase.
“I hear you. I just gotta figure out how.” He wiped the room down of everything he could think of that we touched. “You got a scarf and sunglasses you can put on?”
“Yeah.”
We rushed to get the rest of our stuff, making sure that the room was clear. I put my headscarf on my head and my large framed Dior sunglasses. We headed out the door just as the cleaning attendant came to knock on the door. The older black woman posted her hand up on her hip like she was disgusted by our exit. My lips curled over in the stink face as I turned the corner right behind Shine. If she knew better, she wouldn’t get an attitude with people she didn’t know. Fuck around and wind up with the barrel of a pistol in her mouth for mean mugging. Yeah, I guess I was becoming trigger-happy but I didn’t give a fuck.
“So where did you learn to bust like that? The way you was poppin’ off is not amateurish, so don’t even try to play coy with me.”
“My dad was a cop for 35 years. He used to take me hunting when I was little and to the gun range when I was old enough,” I sighed.
“You really miss him, huh?”
“Everyday.” My head shook, still in disbelief that I would never be able to kiss my daddy’s cheek or ask him for advice ever again. “But anyway, I have a that we can get some dough.”
“Oh yeah? What’s that?” He bent the corner quickly.
“We need to hit th
ese young and dumb, wannabe dope dealers. You know they’re working for someone else so they’re not really on shit. Hell, half of them are probably out there nickeling and diming with no pistols on them.”
“Right, but we not about to rob no nigga for some chump change. We tryin’ to get paper fast and easy, though.”
“Okay, well do you have a better plan?” I asked annoyed that he shot my little suggestion down. “I’m just saying that’s the only way I saw us getting money without bringing anymore unwanted heat our way.”
“Right now we need a place to lay low and get off these streets ‘til nighttime. Then we’ll finish what we out here to do. Ya feel me?” His lips were so juicy, making me want to lick them like a lollipop along with his dick.
My pussy got so wet every time he took charge of the situation and made me listen. I felt every bit of it. He had his points and I had mine. In hindsight, that’s what made us blend together well. I may not have liked that he didn’t want to take my suggestion but I damn sure respected it. Shine had been in these streets way longer than I had, so if he figured laying low was the right thing to do, then that’s what we would do. I sat back enjoying the ride and keeping my eyes out for cops on bullshit. In a city huge city like Chicago, everybody and their mommas had this type of car. For them to pay attention to each and every one that passed them would be too much like right. Especially when they couldn’t even catch motherfuckas they had been looking for that escaped Cook County months ago.
“So where are we going?” I asked checking out the cop car that sped right passed us with flashing lights and sirens.
“To a friend’s house,” he replied short and sweet.
I didn’t ask anymore questions after that as he grabbed my hand interlocking his fingers with mine. He kissed my hand then smiled. It was the cutest thing. Being with him made me feel so alive, so free. I couldn’t even picture life without him. I wish I had met him before I met Major. That way I could have known what a real man was and not some clown who was a child and only thought with his dick. His death was beginning to be a sign from God to me. When I came out of my thoughts we ended up in front of a tall Bronzeville building. I hadn’t been on this end of town in a long time. Apparently, Shine had friends in all parts of town.
“Now when we go in here, just be cool and let me do all the talking.” Shine kissed the back of my hand one last time before we exited the car tucking our pieces behind our backs.
“No problem.” I walked with him up the beautiful brownstone steps, noticing that the day was dwindling down and night would be here before we knew it.
Shine’s finger pressed the bottom bell once we were at the door and within minutes a chunky older woman came to the door all smiles. “Hey Shine. What a pleasure this is. Come on in.”
“Hey Bridgette. How’s it been going?” He smiled making small talk.
“Well it’s been going. I’m just maintaining.” She smiled placing her hands on her hips after tugging at the bottom of her shirt. “Who’s your friend? You gonna introduce us or what?”
“Oh yeah. This is my girl. Baby, this is Bridgette.”
“Oh. Ok.” Confusion read across her face as I smirked and waved confidently. “So, does your baby have a name?”
“That’s not important. Listen, I came to ask you for a favor.” Shine talked with his hands as I made my way around her living room checking out the antique furniture it adorned.
“I’m listening,” Bridgette sucked her fat cheeks and took a seat at her old wooden computer desk.
“I need to borrow some money.”
“Hmm. How much, Shine?”
“About $4000.”
“What? Have you lost your mind? I don’t have that kind of money, Shine. And, even if I did, I haven’t been knowing you long enough to want to lend you that kind of money.” Bridgette’s face curled up the ugliest of expressions. “Besides, shouldn’t you be directing that question to your baby?”
“Bridgette, I ain’t come at you on no humbug. I know you got the money, that’s why I came to you.” Shine explained calmly. “You told me about all this shit you could do for me and shit. Buy me clothes and help me start a business. Now how was you going to do all that if you didn’t have it?”
“Nigga, on credit. I got that A-one credit. Anyway, all that shit was just pillow talk cause I thought you was gonna give me some of that young swilla you packing. But now with you flaunting your baby all up in my face, I know for sure that’s out of the question.” Bridgette’s saltiness read all over her face and resonated in throughout her words.
“Hey chick. I’m not gonna sit here and listen to you catch an attitude with my motherfucking man. Now he asked you a question, you said no, so we’re about to go. But for future references, watch your damn mouth. Understand?” I interrupted.
“Excuse me, bitch? You’re up in my damn house. Slow your roll speaking to me up in here.” Bridgette popped her neck. “Respect my house.”
“See, now I didn’t even call you out of your name. I’m trying to tell you, you don’t want these problems right here, trick.” I fired back.
“Naw, you got me fucked up. Shine, who is this classless piece of trash you done bought up in my house? Both of y’all can roll your bum asses on up out of here.”
“There you go with the fucking name calling again.” Something in my head snapped. “Bitch, sit your five dollar ass down.”
“Damn.” Shine shook his head since he knew it was coming. “Oh well. You brought this on yourself.”
I whipped my .45 from behind my back at the same time he did, pointing it right for her dome. She raised her hands in the air slowly and from then on had nothing else to say. Her bottom lip dropped open in shock that she was staring down not one but two dark tunnels. Her chunky hands shook in terror as I moved slowly over to her, snatching her by the brown cropped hair wig on her head. A faint wince exited her mouth.
“Now, Bridgette. I need for you to tell me where the fuck the money is?” Shine spat, forcing my temperature up a few notches.
Bridgette refused to speak, sitting there with the shit face and staring off into space. I guess she figured if she remained silent, that would force us to leave and she would have ample time to lock the doors and call the police. She looked like one of those people who watched too many crime episodes on TV and thought that if you didn’t anger the criminals or give them what they wanted, they would just beat you upside the head and leave. Obviously, home girl hadn’t watched the First 48.
“Fine. Have it your way,” Shine warned walking towards the back of the house. “Watch her.”
“With pleasure, baby.” My eyes rolled towards hers. “Maybe you’ll think twice next time before you decide to disrespect someone, who hasn’t disrespected you. Won’t you, B?”
“What do you all want?” She whispered.
“What did my man ask you for? Didn’t you hear him bitch? Where’s the fucking money?”
“I don’t have any. I’m broke.”
“You’re lying!”
I had to admit, from the first moment I came into her presence, she angered me. The anger seemed to only increase by the minute. I could see her moving her lips slightly, praying in silence for her life. Only God could judge me now, I thought as I pressed the end of the gun closer to her brain. She closed her eyes, making sure that the last thing she saw before I pulled the trigger was darkness. I felt my blood pumping wildly, as I watched Shine storm back into the room with a small black box adorned with a silver lock built into it.
“Where’s the key, Bridgette?” Shine asked slamming the box down on the desk. “Open your eyes and tell me where the fucking keys are.”
“Open your mouth, ho.” I moved the gun around to her mouth pressing it to her teeth. “Open up or your teeth are going too.”
Bridgette shook and did as she was told as I cocked the piece, pissed that she was testing my patience. “Looks like she’s gonna make you work for this shit, baby. Check her house keys, over there on t
he counter.”
Bridgette tried to move, making the faintest of noises. I shook my head pressing the gun harder, digging into her temple. “Don’t move bitch. Do that shit again and you’re dead.”
“Yeah this’ll work.” Shine snatched the keys finding one small one that popped the box right open. “Jackpot.”
“How much is it, Shine?”
“There’s only $1550 in here. Fuck.” He snapped. “This shit ain’t enough and we still gotta pay Bronx the rest of his money.”
“Well maybe we can do another job for him and he’ll call it even. Just talk to him babe.” I tried to console him, seeing his stress enhance.
“We’ll see. Come on. Let’s go.” He directed, waving one hand and stuffing the cash in his pocket with the other.
“Alright.” The gun went off quickly as I released the pressure from Bridgette’s mouth and dropped my hand. “Oh shit.”
“What the fuck, Bonnie?”
“My bad. I didn’t mean to do it. I just let go and I guess my finger slipped.” I shook my head as we stood there watching the blood ooze out of the side of her mouth.
“You shot her in the fucking mouth, B.” Shine recited calmly. “Find some fucking rubber gloves, man. Since she’s dead we might as well chill here for a few hours before we go do that thang.”
I went to check under her kitchen sink and found a small box of plain beige rubber gloves. I slipped a pair on then handed him a pair. With a dishtowel, I began wiping certain areas that we may have touched or came across while we were here. Bridgette’s blood dripped onto the floor heavily and spread across the desk almost filling it whole.
