Red Haught: Haught Brother's Book 4

“Please, what?”
“Make me come as fast as you can.” Rosy knew she was turning as red as her name with that one. When she’d been with him before she’d been so hungry for the touch of a man and she was uninhibited because he didn’t know her. He didn’t know who she was or what she’d done. They were just two people who thought the other could give them what they wanted.
“Alright, Rosalyn.” His deep voice was dark with promises and she wondered what, if anything, he had planned.
The Spring time kiss turned darker and was filled with decadence. Red moved his mouth spreading delicious kisses down her neck with each touch having that much more pressure. Red grazed her neck with his teeth as she rubbed herself against him trying to fill the ache. He moved one of his hands up from cupping her ass to her breast and squeezed as he licked and sucked a tender spot on her neck.
“Yes…more.” She panted like she couldn’t get enough air and the truth was she couldn’t. Her senses were filled with Red and she just wanted more and more. He sat up and adjusted them both and she found herself on her back looking up at him. Her breaths came out harsh and irratic.
“Is somebody hungry?”
She knew if he was going to start talking this would be over quickly. Rosy nodded because she didn’t want to answer that question. She loved a dirty talker and she remembered that this man had a lot to say. He pinched her breast softly through the fabric of her shirt until her nipple hardened enough for him to find it. Red lifted up her shirt like he was frantic to get to the contents. She almost helped him but she was too close to coordinate what she needed to be doing.
He was kissing her, seemingly everywhere at the same time, but she still wanted more. Hungry is what he asked if she was but she was so much more than that. Red made a trail from her mouth to her neck, down to her bra covered breasts. He clamped on to her left nipple and she wasn’t ready for the onslaught especially while she was trying to keep up with the way he pushed his cock against her…hard and repetitively.
“Does this please you, Rosalyn?” He was looking at her from his place at her breast and speaking between nibbles and tonging the fabric. “I know your pussy is hot and wet. I’d love to taste her but you gave me a timeline and I’m going to complete it although it seems such a shame to go fast.”
“We don’t have to go fast.”
“Mmmm…I was given orders and I’m going to follow them.” He looked at her breasts before looking back up at her. “Move your bra I want to taste your skin.”
She did as he asked and quickly before she waited to see what was next. He lowered his mouth to her nipple and drew it into his mouth and worked his hips better than any stripper she’d ever seen.
“Oooooohhh.” Her body contracted hard and although she was prepared for it she’d gotten way more than she expected to receive with her clothes on. She’d not done that since she was in middle school but it had never been like that. Rosy brought Red down for a kiss even as the after shocks from her orgasm shook her body she continued to move her body hard against Red. He came with more of a grunt and a hiss as his hips rocked against her.
They both lay there quietly and Rosy didn’t know what to say about any of this. She’d wanted sex. That was the honest truth but she wasn’t sure about what they’d done. It seemed more personal or more…she wasn’t sure what but it was something. His body shook above hers and she turned to see what was going on…the man was laughing.
“What’s so funny?” She could hear the defensiveness in the answer and as much as she wanted to be light and carefree that wasn’t what she was feeling.
He laughed a full belly laugh now that he’d been caught. She pushed against his chest and thought to get up.
“Oh wow you’re prickly.” He moved off her but pulled her onto his lap.
“I don’t like being laughed at.” She looked around his room as she said that. Trying to get her mind to the present and not how her life used to be.
“Hey.” He moved his face to where she could see him better. “I’m the one who came like a schoolboy in his pants. If I’m laughing at anyone it’s me.”
Upset that she was looking like a sensitive child who took everything to heart she vowed that the next time she would have more worldly woman decorum. “I’d better be leaving.”
“You cuddle pros are all the same. Give a little bit, get what they want and they’re out the door. No aftercare or anything.”
She knew he was teasing. Rolling her eyes she shook head at this new silliness. “If you want more cuddle time I’ll give it to you but it has to be off the clock. I have to think about my image.”
“So true,” he said giving her kiss on her mouth. “We don’t want to ruin your reputation.”
“Just a little while and then I’ll be on my way.”
“I’ll take whatever you’d like to give me. I just ask that you don’t run away like you did last time.”
She looked up at his face. Happy that he was able to be playful and teasing with the night he’d had. “A gentleman wouldn’t bring that up.”
“I’ve said I was a lot of things but I’ve never even thought to call myself a gentleman.” He tucked her into his arms and rolled a little like he was protecting her. She didn’t get to be cuddled with her sessions but she understood how wonderful it felt to be the one who’s getting petted, stroked and nuzzled.
He stroked her hair and nuzzled her neck, but she decided that she wasn’t going to go to sleep. Just a few more seconds and she would get up. She’d done what she’d come to do, said what she wanted to say and all was good with the world…unless Red was going to rejoin the Haught circle but she’d cross that bridge when and if she got to it.
Chapter 3 – Draven
Red opened his eyes to the bright sun shining in his eyes and tried to take a few minutes to figure out what was going on. The movement on his chest caused him to look down. Rosalyn. That’s right she’d come over after weeks worth of acting like she’d never met him to feeling sorry for him about what would probably go down in his life as the worst foot in mouth job ever.
He tried to get out from under the woman who was draped across him like a blanket. A beautifully sexy blanket who he let stay because she looked like a kicked puppy when he was trying to put her out. He was only going to let her cuddle him to make her feel better but her little speech about him not being a mistake just made him want to taste her sweetness, and it had been off to the races from there. He’d have offered a thank you for sticking up for him, to him but it wasn’t something he thought he’d be able to get out without his voice breaking. Being made to feel you had to keep yourself secret your whole life it was easy to take jump to feeling like a mistake.
Moving from under her without disturbing her sleep was harder than he thought it would be. She clung to him in her slumber and mumbled soft, sweet murmurings that he couldn’t make out. He was feeling a bit triumphant when he finally made it to the ground, but he looked back over at her to make sure she was still sleeping. Rosalyn curled herself into a ball and snuggled into the pillow before the soft sounds of her rhythmic breathing started up again.
Waking up early every morning wasn’t something he could just turn off, unfortunately his body was a clock and the alarm rang at 5AM. He usually would run, shower and get a little reading in before he headed off to work. They had him split between the ER and general medicine, which was usually the clinic. The assignment was only for twenty weeks and he’d completed 16 of them so his time here was drawing to a close. It was probably a good thing as he’d worn out his welcome. The dream he had in the back of his head…the one where he had three brothers who embraced his arrival and wondered why he’d taken so long to find them was dead. He’d seen the look on Alec and Beau’s faces. They were as far away from acceptance as they could be and honestly he didn’t blame them. He didn’t. The last few months had been amazing and it could only be attributed to perfect timed coincidence. He’d walked into The Haught Spot and inadvertently sa
t next to Camden’s very pregnant wife. They talked a bit and when her husband came in she, not having much food or drink that day, fainted and fell right into Red’s arms. He couldn’t have planned that better if he tried. Camden thought he was a lifesaver and he’d just been happy to be invited to so many friend and family functions that had given him a chance to meet Alec and Beau before they knew who he was.
Red sat on the chair that was across from the couch and watched the woman he’d been lusting after, during every family function, event and casual meeting, sleep like a kitten. They probably should have made it to a bed but she’d felt so good in his arms and the mood was so sweet he didn’t want to change anything. He grabbed his phone from the side table and saw that he had a text message that he’d missed.
Camden: Meet me for lunch tomorrow. Let me know when you’re free.
He stared at the message trying to figure out what that meant. Since it was from Camden he wasn’t sure if the other guys had talked about him and wanted to talk to him or if it was just Camden trying to make sure everything was okay. The last thing he wanted to do was get between the real Haught brothers so he didn’t think he’d be going to any lunches.
Red: I’m pretty busy this week. Maybe another time?
There. That should do it. Red hated to lie to anyone and actually he wasn’t doing it now.
The life of a doctor in a small town hospital was busy…well, as busy as one could expect. It would have been easy to go in late or leave early. There wasn’t too much to do at a place like that but he’d been enjoying the slower pace gave him time to look around into the other departments and get to know the staff.
He sat there looking at the screen hoping to see bubbles indicating Camden was replying but then remembered how freaking early in the morning it was. Red didn’t remember a time when he wanted something as much as he had wanted more than being a part of the Haught Family. That feeling got stronger and stronger the longer he was allowed to stay around. He didn’t know a time that he didn’t have to worry about being caught, that he didn’t hide, but being with them was easy. They didn’t ask a lot of questions…except for True, but she’d been busy with Alec at first and then the babies. Enough of this shit. He put his phone down and got a quick shower before getting dressed for work.
Red stood looking at Rosy again when he returned to the living room and was at a loss of what to do. He wanted to wake her up and accept the gift she was offering the night before but who knew if the offer had expired by now. She was a complex person. That he knew for certain. She went from practically being a doormat for everyone associated with the Haughts to the person with fire in her eyes and a sassiness in her tone. He’d experienced the sassy side of Rosy that on their first night together and had seen glimpses of it throughout the short time they’d been in each other’s presence. Most people didn’t seem to notice it or her. She was an afterthought for the people she seemed to want to impress, but he’d not been able to figure out what she was paying penance to get forgiveness for. He didn’t have the heart to ask about the bones in her closet when he could open his mouth and have entire skeletons fall out of his.
Walking into the kitchen, that was beside the living room, he put on the coffee and started the bacon. If this didn’t wake her up then he’d let her sleep on the couch. It may do her well to see how it feels to wake up and the person you went to sleep with was gone. It probably took some points away since she was in his house so there was a guarantee he would come back eventually.
It didn’t take long before Rosy shuffled in.
“I didn’t mean to sleep all night.” She looked adorable sleep tousled and bed headed.
“Well I can say that I don’t know when I’ve had a more restful sleep. I’ve got to get to work but I have time for a quick breakfast. How do you like your eggs?” He turned to her and watched her confusion but he wasn’t sure why.
“I have to go to the bathroom.” She stood there in the kitchen and it took a second for him to put together that she was either waiting for permission or directions.
“On the other side of the living room across from the goddess statue.”
“That’s an interesting item you have there. Did you hijack a museum? Pull off some sort of heist?” She had a twinkle in her eye that he’d not seen before as she thought up reasons he’d have the statue in his house. He liked watching her speculate and come up with tall tales.
“I wish I could say it was anything that interesting. There was a man who made sculptures and this one was available. I call her the Goddess and I take her everywhere I move.” Watching her take that in he wondered what was going on in her head at this very moment.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it in person.”
“Really? What about when you were in school? They always have field trips taking the kids here and there. The zoo, the museum, the conservatory that place where you look at the night.”
“The planetarium.” She got a faraway look in her eye as she reminded him of the name of that kind of arena.
“Right.”
“I missed a lot of field trips when I was younger. I don’t know if it was the excitement of going or what but I somehow acted up right before hand and didn’t get to go.” The look of longing filled her expression but before he could ask more questions about it she shut the look down, gave him a quick, apologetic smile and turned away.
He watched her scramble away almost before he was done telling her where to go. She hadn’t told him how she liked her eggs so he figured he’d scramble them and let her decide if she wanted cheese or not.
After a few minutes he wondered if she was coming back. He’d plated the eggs, bacon and was pouring the coffee when she reappeared.
“I didn’t mean to barge in and take over your night.” She appeared to be very remorseful. Almost like there had been another person in the other room that had told her to come in and apologize.
“I’m a grown man and I could have told you I didn’t want you to stay if I didn’t want you here. Although it wasn’t my idea, I’m very glad you barged in and happier that you stayed the night. I appreciate your concern even though it wasn’t necessary.” He pulled out her chair and waited for her to sit down. She seemed hesitant and he wondered how often people did things for her.
“Thank you for breakfast.”
“Well we didn’t get this far last time so we are improving.” He watched her face turn red and decided he wasn’t going to tease her about running out on him again. Red was only trying to lighten the mood but his comment seemed to have the opposite effect. “I’m sorry. I’m still freaked out about last night so I may not be at the highest level of conversation skills.”
She gave a weak smile and dug into her food, but it didn’t seem like she wanted to talk. When she was done she looked at her phone and hopped up. “Oh, look at the time.”
“You have somewhere to be?”
“Yes. Ummm…thank you for breakfast and last night.” She turned and walked toward the door, but he caught her right before she got there.
“Is everything okay? Did I do something wrong?”
She took a deep breath. “No. Not at all, I have a meeting and I don’t want to be late.” Rosalyn stood on her tiptoes and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips and a wobbly smile.
“Okay. Will I see you again?”
“It’s a small town. I’m sure we will cross paths again.” She did a good job of walking fast without looking as if she were running and he didn’t say anything else because she stunned him.
“What the hell happened?”
*****
“Well Dr. H. that was a nice run but I think we cleared out the waiting room.” Shelby was the nurse who ran the emergency room and she was a true cheerleader. She always had a smile on her face and looked like she could break out with her pom poms and a “Who’s got a broken leg? You do…you do. Who’s gonna fix it? We…Are” at any moment.
“It’s nice to stay busy and although I don’t w
ish any pain on any one it was nice having something to do.”
“Dr. Staunton is in for the mental health clinic. There is always something brewing over there. I’ll let you know if we get any takers.” Shelby spoke to him as she wiped down the tables and chairs in the waiting room. The woman had so much energy he wondered if she ever sat down or slept.
“Okay I’ll take a walk over there.” The mental health clinic was detached from the actual hospital and he’d actually never thought to walk over and see what was going on. There was a bell that hung over the door when you came in that was so loud he almost wanted to apologize when he got inside.
“Doctor H. What brings you over to our neck of the woods?” The small woman with a dark bob and wide smile stood up when he got closer.
“Not much. We cleared out the ER and Shelby suggested I head over here. Just wanted to see if anything was going on over here?”
“Well we have groups this afternoon and we had individual sessions this morning. Now Dr. Staunton is talking to a woman about some alternative therapies she thinks may help our patients. That man is a stickler for time and runs like clockwork. His appointment is penciled in for thirty minutes and it’s 11:29 now. He’d love to talk to you and I’ll bet you any second he’ll be done with his meeting.”
“I wouldn’t take that bet. You look like a knowledgeable woman so I’m going to bet that you’re correct.”
Her smile got brighter when the door to the doctor’s office opened and he could hear the two people walking down the hall.
“I think this is a great idea. I’ll put the sign up sheet up and let you know if we get any takers. It was good meeting you Ms. Brooks.”
Red turned to see the woman who practically ran away from him this morning fresh faced and full of confidence. Her thick mahogany hair was twisted up in some fancy bun and her khaki pants looked casually comfortable with her pink polo shirt. The whole ensemble was topped off with a delightful smile. Damn she was radiant. He’d like to think he’d had something to do with that but the way she deflated when she saw him made him think she looked like that in spite of what they’d done together. She shook the doctor’s hand and waved at, he looked at the name on her desk, Amanda Fuller.
