  Sean?

Rhiannon had been trying for hours to bring Sean McMurray back, but without success.

  Sean, please!

Nothing. She kept up her attempts, her body nauseous from the separation. She needed him more than life. She needed to go to him but couldn't due to Julian's orders and her mother's guard.

Sean, talk to me. I'm not allowed to come to you. Please, answer me. Julian wants me calm and not upset.

  Nothing.

Sean McMurray, if you don't answer me, I'm coming after you.

  Rhi?

  Sean?

  Are you...

Now that I know you are, I'm fine.

  What the hell happened?

You took a gunshot in the chest. Julian and Gabriel told me it was a clean shot.

  Then why all the problems?

It has something to do with your wolf gene. Julian can explain it better.

  Where are you?

In one of the treatment rooms.

I'll get there as soon as I can.

Take care of yourself. You need to heal.

  I need my wife.

  Chapter 20

  "Welcome home."

"Thanks, it's good to be back."

"We have so much to tell you,” Elizabeth said.

  "What did we miss?"

"Hunter traced the lab in Chicago after he and Gabriel opened the safe, once the fire department put out the blaze. They found a lot of evidence and the name and address of the doctor and the lab."

  "What happened?” Sean asked.

"Since they couldn't come out and state the reason why they wanted the operation closed down, I persuaded Lockwood to let us take care of it. All the packs throughout North America have searched for the place for years. Gabriel and Damon went to Chicago where they met several members from..."

"Julian, what happened?” Sean asked impatiently.

"The lab mysteriously went up in flames. The fire burned so hot, there is no evidence left, and those involved will never hurt us again."

Sean breathed a sigh of relief, but the Holts’ involvement concerned him. The pack's mission had been to peacefully exist in the human world. At least, Julian had originally explained it as such.

"I want to talk to Gabe and Damon."

"We figured you would and they have information for you and Lockwood, also."

"Good, I'll take care of everything when I go back to the office."

Sean and Rhiannon spent a week at The Sanctuary to heal and recover from the final showdown with Adolph Gliickman.

Julian treated the silver poisoning successfully, though Rhiannon had been told she couldn't nurse their daughters.

"It's the only way I can know the three of them will survive what happened to you."

Rhiannon didn't like it but she understood.

Because of Sean's genetic imbalance, Julian administered a regimen of drugs to balance Sean's body chemistry out.

"Didn't anyone tell ever tell you why you had a problem with blood transfusions?” Julian asked Sean.

  "It only happened once. Why?"

"When you had surgery to remove the bullet, we had to replace the blood you'd lost. First try did not take, but the second one did and your body accepted it without a problem. I called DC and got your medical records."

  "You got my classified records?"

"Lucky for you, I have friends."

Sean remembered shaking his head. Whatever had been in his files told Julian enough to treat him. When Hawthorne went on to explain what he had learned about Sean's condition, Sean was amazed.

Understanding went a long way and he understood more each day. He felt he could handle the pack leadership he would one day take over and still remain a cop. Rhiannon had been right. He'd never be happy outside the force.

As soon as Julian gave his approval, Sean and Rhiannon packed what they needed for them and their daughters and Sean took his family to his cabin hidden in a forest in Alberta, Canada.

Sean went over everything in his mind once more, finally at total peace with himself and his life. He came back to the present immediately when he sensed Rhiannon at his side.

  "Hey."

"Hey, yourself. Where are the girls?"

"Sound asleep. All this fresh mountain air tired them out. Claudia's with them."

  "You mean we..."

"If you want. Besides, you owe me a private tour."

  "That I do. Let's go."

Rhiannon told Claudia they'd be back in a while, then they left the cabin and followed one of the trails through the thick forest.

  "Do I hear water?"

"Yes, you do. It's the waterfall to the stream. It comes down from a rocky overhang. Great place to hide or..."

  "Is my wolf getting..."

He pulled her tight against him, her body molded to his.

"Always for you. Come on, I'll show you."

Sean led her along a path that took them to the rocky area of his property. She gasped at the sight.

"This is one of the reasons I bought the place."

  "It's beautiful."

  "Second to you."

Sean bent to kiss her. His lips covered hers, his tongue exploring her mouth as if relearning everything about her. He felt his jeans tighten over his swelling cock as it begged for release and the feel of her body enveloping him.

  "Rhi..."

  "Sean..."

He unceremoniously ripped her blouse from her body, then fought her jeans. Rhiannon fumbled with his clothes as desire took over. Scraps lay on the ground around them as they fell into each other's arms. She pulled away and gasped as he grabbed her hair and kissed her again. His hand held her head in place while his other massaged her breast and teased her hardened nipple.

She returned his kiss as her hand grasped his cock and stroked it. His hips bucked and he set her rhythm, then slid his hand between her legs. He groaned when he felt her, hot and ready for him. With a growl, he lifted her up and, after she guided him to the entry he sought, he drove into her with a brutal and powerful force. Her legs wrapped around him as he rolled her to her back. He nipped at each bud, then kissed her as he pounded himself into her wet and waiting pussy. She rode him and cried out when he exploded his seed into her.

"I claim you as my mate, you and no other. You are mine, woman, now and always."

  "Yours, my wolf, always."

He pulled her up and she sat on his hips, his hardened and hot shaft inside her. Carefully, he stood while he made sure they remained as one. He carried her to the cave behind the waterfall and laid her down on a soft bed he'd placed there months before. A simple air mattress but, at this point, it didn't matter.

Sean lifted her hips up, thrust into her again, and took her. He marveled at her beauty and the sight of her breasts moving in time as he drove her hard.

Rhiannon cried out as she begged him for more, Sean the only man who could handle her desire and passion.

  "Sean ... Sean..."

"Rhi, I love you,” he cried out.

"Then totally stake your claim, my wolf."

  "As my queen desires."

Sean pulled back and changed to his wolf while his wife shifted to her silvery pelted form.

Without thought, he went to his mate and grabbed her neck in his teeth as his body loomed over her and moved into position. He held tight as he sunk into her. The harder he drove, the more his teeth clamped down. Rhiannon pushed herself against him as they moved in natural harmony.

  Sean?

  What?

  Leave me with a baby.

  But...

  I'm in heat, sweetheart.

Sean growled as he pounded into his mate. The release overwhelmed them as he broke away from the hold he had on her neck and howled. His mate joined him as they howled for joy—their lives good.

They lay in the cool cave and rested, in need of rejuvenation, tired and spent. Sean woke before her and nuzzled her ne
ck. As she stirred, his jaw clamped down on her neck. She threw her head back with a yelp, her body ready for him. She moved to allow him access to her as his front legs hooked around her body.

Without thought and going on natural drive, he drove into her with a powerful stroke. His mate cried out from the pain and pleasure of his natural drive. She took him and enveloped him, her body clenching onto his cock while he pounded into her. She tried to nip at him but his teeth's grip on her thick pelt held her exactly where he wanted her.

  Sean!

  I know.

Together, they howled their joy. He led her to the stream where they frolicked in the chilly water.

Sean, I want you again, only I want it in human form. I want to gaze into your eyes while you fuck my brains out.

  Your will, my queen.

Sean jumped onto the bank, shook the water from his thick black coat, and then easily shifted. He turned to watch Rhiannon come from the water and shake it off. He went to her and put his forehead to hers.

  "You are beautiful, my wife."

She nuzzled him before she pulled away and shifted back. He gasped at the sight of her—tall, beautiful and his. His gaze ran the length of her body before he did a slow survey of it, from her long legs to her perfect tits.

  "My God, woman, you're gorgeous."

  "You ain't so bad yourself."

He went to her and caught his breath.

  "What?"

  "I've hurt you."

  "What?"

  "Your neck. It's bruised."

  "It'll fade."

"I'm sorry. I guess I got carried away."

"Don't ever hold back. Sex with you in any shape is awesome."

"But...” he began, but she put her fingertips to his lips.

"Shh...” she said as her tongue began swirling over them. “I love you for you, your powerful drive. I fell in love with you after you gave me what my body craved. No other man has ever satisfied me the way you do."

"How did I get so lucky?” he asked as his hands held her breasts, his thumbs teasing her erect nipples. She put her arms around his neck and nipped at it.

"What would you say to fucking the mother of your son, my wolf prince?"

"Really? How do you know already?"

"It's in the genes. Trust me, my wolf."

Sean threw his head back and howled. Rhiannon laughed as he excited her more. Her body craved his, her nipples aroused for his attention, her pussy wet and waiting.

One time, two lost souls searched for the one to make them complete. Sean McMurray and Rhiannon Drake McMurray became an entity and a force to be reckoned with. They had found perfection.

  Epilogue

  Five months later

  "Sean?"

  "What, babe?"

  "Can you bring Derek in?"

Derek Sean McMurray had joined their family several days before. When asked, Julian explained her pregnancies could not be explained. He'd heard male babies went longer before birth than females, but nothing had ever been documented.

Derek had been born healthy. Sean expected another multiple birth like their daughters, but Rhiannon secretly felt relieved. She'd lost one daughter and did not want to experience the loss again. Not only did she have an easier pregnancy, but Derek showed no signs of silver poison in his system. Julian gave her the go ahead to nurse and she did.

  "Here's your son."

Derek nuzzled a bit before latching onto her nipple and feeding, content. She looked at Sean who watched her, proud of his wife and mate.

  "Are you both all right?"

"He is happy but I want you next to me.” Sean went to her and slid his arm around her as he stretched out beside her. Julian wanted her in bed a while longer, though Rhi felt fine.

"Anyone home?” a voice asked, as they heard a knock on their bedroom door.

  "Come in, Julian."

Julian and Elizabeth entered the room. Elizabeth couldn't wait to see her grandson since he'd been born near the waterfall in Alberta. By the time they came home the day after, Julian had his birth certificate waiting.

  "I see he's doing well?"

  "Yes, he is,” Rhiannon smiled.

"Good.” Julian grinned as he placed his hand on Derek's head. Rhiannon noticed something different about her father.

  "Dad, what's up?"

"I wanted to tell the both of you before you heard the news from someone else. I'm stepping down in favor of Sean's leadership. I'll remain on to consult and give my expertise but it's time for new blood."

"Julian, I don't know what to say."

"You knew it would be coming from the dreams."

"But not this soon. Are you sure?"

"Elizabeth and I want to enjoy life. I'll still be active, only with an emeritus title. I'll still be medical chief because I'm not stepping down from treating my patients. In fact, I need to groom my replacement, so it should keep me busy for years to come."

  "Are you absolutely positive?"

"Sean, you are perfect to take over and my daughter holds our next alpha to her breast. The blood is strong and you'll do well. Yes, Sean, I'm positive and it's time."

"I don't know what to say."

  "Yes would be good."

"Yes, Julian, I accept but don't travel too far. I'll expect to have your counsel."

"I'll be here. Besides, Elizabeth doesn't want to be too far away from Rhiannon or the grandbabies. Neither do I, in fact."

  * * * *

Sean took Rhiannon for a walk to the stables. It had been a while since she'd seen Andromeda and she wanted to make up for it. When they left the house, they followed the driveway to the small family plot where they visited their daughter's grave.

"It's been an amazing day, hasn't it?” she asked.

  "In more ways than one."

"I have a question, my king."

  "What, my queen?"

"Do newly crowned kings love their wives as fiercely as those who wait to be crowned?"

  "No."

"No?” she asked, puzzled by his answer.

"I plan to love my queen even more fiercely than before."

  "I love you, Sean."

"I love you, too. Now, let's go back to the house so I can prove how much the new king wants his queen."

"You know just how to keep me happy and around."

  "Always, Rhiannon, always."
