“Would you mind coming back down to the bar with me or…would you invite me in for drink? I’d prefer not to hang out by myself down there, and I really don’t want to go to my room just yet. I’ve had a pretty shitty day.”

“Is that why you were being such an ass to me? Not that that makes it all right.”

Her shoulders sagged forward, and she looked down, but didn’t answer. He groaned, hating himself just a little for being a nice guy. His plans for a hot shower and good-night’s rest were about to launch right out the window. He didn’t want to go back downstairs, so he did something stupid and invited her in.

“Come in,” he said, stepping to the side.

“Thanks,” she muttered, dropping her purse on the guest table. “Your room looks different than mine. It’s much bigger.”

“I upgraded. I don’t get time away from work often. I figured I’d take advantage of it while I could.” He moved to the minibar and pulled out some beers he’d stashed inside. “I don’t have martinis but I do have beer.”

She wrinkled her nose. “I’ve never had one.”

“I figured that when you ordered apple martinis earlier.” He chuckled and sat the beer down in front of her. “If you want it, here it is. If not…” He let the words fall away, knowing she could figure it out on her own.

She kicked off her shoes and flipped open a few of the buttons on her blouse, and he froze, staring at her like he was experiencing déjà vu. There was a throbbing ache in his balls, but when she awkwardly looked at him, he shook the idea away.

  “What?”

“Nothing,” he lied, his cock pulsing as he pictured her hiking up her skirt to show him her pretty pussy. Her pampered ass was probably covered in lace and silk. He groaned, hating himself for thinking it. He’d give anything to stub his toe, or do anything that would help him take his mind off of Liza and her cute ass, perky tits, and fuckable mouth.

  Stop that!

God, what had she done to him? He was stark raving mad. Was that her plan? Warp his brain with lust-filled thoughts and as soon as they were alone together he’d have no choice but to ravage her. He chuckled.

I’m losing my mind. Maybe I do need to get laid.

“What’s so funny,” she asked, sitting down on the edge of his bed.

No. Not my bed. He looked up at the ceiling. God help me.

“It would appear I’ve had too much to drink,” he told her, not a lie, but certainly not the truth.

“That’s nice. It would appear I haven’t. I’m still conscious.” Her frown deepened. “I would love to be drunk and not remember this night and so many others.”

He grimaced, her somber expression alarming. The sad look on her face was like a bucket of ice water to his sack. He was suddenly only concerned about her and why she would sound so defeated.

“Why would you say that? I thought you didn’t want to be alone.”

She rolled the beer bottle in her hands, her mind working behind her eyes. “Ever met someone that is totally wrong for you, but you stupidly ignore the signs and date them anyway?”

He’d held his breath, and only after she’d clarified that she was referring to someone she’d dated did he release the air from his lungs. “Who hasn’t done that,” he said, not really a question.

She pointed to herself. “Well, meet stupid.”

He grinned and moved to sit beside her. Clearly she was having boyfriend issues. “I don’t think you’re stupid, Liza. Brazen as hell, annoyingly feisty, but not stupid.” He wasn’t sure why he did it, but he swept a piece of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. When she looked at him, he pulled his hand away. “Is this boyfriend still around?”

“I broke up with him about a month ago and technically it was over about a month before that. He can’t get it through his head I’m done and our relationship is over.”

He never liked hearing when a man couldn’t figure out it was time to move on. Sam had had a crazy ex and he’d burned down part of Jason’s bar as a form of retaliation. People like that could become out of control fast. “And what’s going on now?”

“He’s calling my work. He’s stalking my home. I’ve been avoiding him.” She covered her face with her hands. “I don’t know what to do about it.”

He rubbed her back in a comforting gesture. There was a need to soothe her—a protective impulse fired in his mind. The same way it had when Layla had been attacked by Sam’s ex-boyfriend not too long ago. “Has he threated you or something? Do you want to call the police?”

  “It hasn’t gotten that bad.”

He wanted to laugh. Not because it was funny, but at the ridiculousness of her answer. “I’m sure that’s what all stalker victims say in the beginning.”

She rolled her eyes as if not wanting to hear his words. He got that. It was a difficult situation. He still didn’t want to see her hurt.

“If you ever feel threatened you need to report it. Things could get out of hand quick, you know?”

  She nodded.

He placed his hand beside hers on the bed, his chest tight with the memory of when Layla had been assaulted. He loved her like a kid sister and he’d wanted to beat the shit out of Sam’s ex for hurting her. “Layla must’ve told you about the guy that attacked her at the bar. It freaked her out. Shit, it freaked me out. I don’t want to see that happen to you, too.”

He really didn’t. No one should feel victimized by another. He’d kicked himself a dozen times for letting that happen to Layla. Had he just stayed with her that night, it never would’ve—

Stop it. It’s over. Layla’s fine and it will never happen again. Not on my watch.

“Promise me you’ll at least talk to Luke, Layla’s boyfriend. He can give you advice on how to handle things. Don’t wait until it’s too late, Liza. It may never get bad, but if it ever did—” He clenched his jaw tight. “Just don’t let it. Okay?”

“Okay. I promise.” She wiped at her eyes. “I guess I was just lonely and needed someone to talk to. Otherwise, I can’t see why I would’ve even dated this guy. He’s not my type at all.”

“And what is your type?” He was stunned when his question shot from his mouth. It wasn’t like he really cared. Or did he?

She swallowed hard, slanting him with a glance. Her once somber expression softened. His heart raced as he studied her. There was something shifting in her mind. He saw it clearly as he looked into her heavy-lidded eyes.

“Do you really want to know?”

A fierce need gripped his chest and his body stirred. “I wouldn’t have asked, if I wasn’t serious about knowing.”

“All right, then,” she said, twisting a little to face him. “I like tall men, strong and dominant. I don’t want to feel I can outwit him. I prefer a man who knows how to treat me. Knows when I need to be touched and then touches me. I want a man who isn’t afraid to try new things and is not afraid to take on a challenge.”

She stood, placed her beer on the table, and faced him. For a long moment, she just stared down at him. Her breasts were heavy with her breaths, and her blue eyes were round and captivating. She trailed the tip of her tongue teasingly over her lower lip and gently bit it. The seductive look made his cock throb. He spread his legs wider as she crowded in closer, her outer thighs gliding gently against his legs. She was a tempting sight, standing there hungrily looking at him and he was powerless against her.

“Right now, what I want is you,” she admitted.

He wasn’t sure how to react. His hard shaft had already made up its mind, but he didn’t want things to be awkward between them. He didn’t want to take advantage of her apparent vulnerability. Jason was many things. An asshole was not one of them.

“Liza, the timing for this could be way off,” he told her, as he considered her state of mind and what she’d been going through with her ex. Then Layla and Sam crowded his thoughts. “This could end badly.”

Her fingers were already working the buttons of her blouse. His breath caugh
t in his lungs as she let the fabric fall to the floor. With the flick of her fingers, she unclasped her bra and let it drop. Her gorgeous breasts were exposed for his viewing pleasure. They were perfectly perky and just enough to fill his hand. His tongue grew thick.

  “Oh, dear God,” he rasped.

He seemed unable to do more than watch her as she unzipped her skirt and stepped free of it once it pooled at her feet. The only thing left was the skimpy, black lacy panties she wore. When she hooked her thumbs in the waistband, he reached out and stopped her. She eyed him curiously.

“Jason, I’m aware of the reasons we shouldn’t do this and I don’t care.”

He shook, the power of her body and voice shattering his resolve. “Please don’t take them off,” he begged. “Not yet.”

She quirked a knowing smile. She stepped back as he kicked out of his boots and stripped out of his slacks and socks. All that was left was his red boxer briefs.

Her jaw slackened. “You’re kind of hot, Jason.” She dragged her fingertips over his chest, tracing over his tattoo of a dragon that covered his left pectoral, its wings draped over its body while its spikey tail whipped around its front—the bright green, purple, and gold colors vivid and sharp. “I think I’m going to enjoy feeling you up.”

He grinned, appreciating her compliment. Finally, she sounded like she wanted him because she was attracted to him. Not because he was the only one available. He could work with that.

“You’re not too bad yourself.” He pulled her against him and dipped his finger inside her panties, parting the folds of her pussy to gauge how wet she was. She was soaked. “What are your thoughts about hot tubs?”

“They’re wet,” she said with a gasp, parting her legs a little more for him. She arched her neck back as a breathless moan escaped her.

Damn she was tight and he lifted her leg so he could plunge deeper inside her. Her pussy clamped around his finger, one then two. He swirled her slick heat around her clit, teasing her slowly.

She clung to him, almost desperate, and as in need of affection as he was—something he hadn’t realized until her arms circled around his neck and she kissed the flesh of his throat.

“It just so happens that this room has one.”

“That’s nice,” she said with a moan, her fingers squeezing his biceps as he continued to fuck her with his fingers.

“Ever had sex in or on a hot tub?” he asked, nuzzling the side of her face.

She shook her head, licking her lips as her sounds of pleasure increased. “No, but I’m game if you are.”

  “I’m game and very willing.”

  Chapter Two

Liza Grey was in over her head, and she didn’t give a damn. Jason Whitmore was the sexiest man she’d ever laid eyes on. He was big, tall, and muscular, like a man that worked out. A lot. The muscles in his arms and chest flexed as she glided her hands over them. She held him close as he drove his fingers in and out of her pussy.

I can’t believe he’s touching me. I must be dreaming.

The desire in his blue eyes, shoulder-length blond hair, and slightly whiskered face made him dangerously sexy. Nothing at all like the men she traditionally dated or slept with. They’d been stiff and sexually selfish. None of them would’ve dreamed of ramming her with his fingers, while she clawed at his flesh.

Heat swirled low in her belly, and she screamed delightfully as he lifted her into his arms and carried her into the adjoining room where the hot tub was. He sat her down and just as her feet touched the floor, he was kneeling in front of her to remove her panties. She shivered as he worked the material down her legs.

Oh, God, is this really happening?

The number of fantasies and wet dreams she’d had over Jason had left her needing to change the sheets of her bed daily. From the first second she laid eyes on him, she desired him and wanted him so fiercely she couldn’t think of anything else. That was why her relationship with her ex had failed. He wasn’t Jason.

“You shave?” His pleased tone drew her attention back to the present. As she gazed down at him, he arched a brow and grinned.

“Wax,” she corrected and then gasped as he kissed her pubic bone and slipped his tongue between her pussy lips.

She should’ve been embarrassed with his fevered gaze devouring her, his face so close to her most intimate parts. But she wasn’t. She’d desired this moment for far too long to play the shy girl now.

“I like it,” he praised. “Now sit on the edge of the tub.”

She glanced behind her to see where she could sit, but apparently, she didn’t move fast enough. Jason had her in his arms and was lifting her up. It helped that she was small compared to him. He was over six feet tall, and she was about a foot shorter. Feeling the strength of his body only made her want him more. Jason reminded her of what a real man should feel like pressed up against a woman.

He clasped her waist and moved up to take her mouth. She arched her neck as he crushed himself against her, kissing her with so much lust-filled passion. It felt as if he shared the same desperate need she had.

If only that were true. It’s not possible, so stop thinking it. An internal war raged on in her mind of what she wished for and what could truly be.

  It’s just sex.

Jason trailed his mouth over her throat and shoulder, kissing a path to each nipple. She grasped the back of his head as he suckled her sweetly, savoring her as her body flared with more desire and need. He parted the folds of her pussy and once again slipped his finger inside her, pumping in and out. In a breath, she had her legs parted, riding the palm of his hand as he teased and gently spanked her clit.

His hands were on her thighs as he lowered himself to his knees. Staring down at him, her heart raced. Then when he encouraged her to part her legs wider, she thought she might die. He stared at her pussy, his gaze heavy with appreciation. He blew a warm breath over her sensitive clit, and she quivered.

“Beautiful,” he whispered just before his tongue grazed over her center.

She rolled her head back, gasping toward the ceiling. She clung to the side of the tub, holding on as he licked and sucked at her pussy. His fingers opened her up like the petals of a flower and again he teased two fingers inside her tight core.

“Yes,” she cried, rolling her hips as he fucked and sucked her.

She’d never been so aroused in her life. Never felt so on display for another. She liked it, enjoyed the pleasure Jason gave her.

Her world spun out of control as the first wave of her orgasm blinded her. She cried out, and as she did, he sucked just a little more, fucked her just a little faster. The aftershocks had her gripping his head to make sure he didn’t stop until she was fully satisfied.

Then, she clawed for him, silently begging for his cock. She wanted to feel him deep inside her. Needed to satisfy the yearning that had been building since the first time she’d seen him.

“Please,” she begged, the need so strong she didn’t care if she sounded desperate. She was. This was the only night they would have together. “Fuck me, Jason.”

He rose up, cupped the back of her head, and he kissed her hard. She tasted herself on his lips and it only made her more aroused. No one had ever kissed her after oral pleasure. Jason was the first.

Panting, he parted from her, stripped out of his briefs, and grabbed a condom from his wallet. He rolled the latex over his shaft and returned to her. Gripping her hips, he brought her to the edge of the tub. Holding her gaze, he shoved inside her and she gasped as his thick cock stretched her. He tensed as they joined, and slowly, he encouraged her to lie back on the side of the tub. When she did, he worked his hips, thrusting deep. She watched him as he stared down at their joined bodies.

Shoving her legs up, he drilled harder and deeper. She closed her eyes as he set fire to her body, over and over again hitting the spot that had her crying out with another release. He kept his pace, until he filled her with his seed and groaned with a guttural sound.

&
nbsp; Breathless, he hung his head for a moment and then pulled her up, still inside her. He kissed her again, brushing back her hair as he cupped her face. Slowly, he stepped back and discarded the condom. He hopped over the edge of the tub and pulled her in with him. She laughed.

“I half expected you to change your mind about the hot tub.”

Jason looked at her curiously and then grinned. “Why would I do that? This tub just became my favorite place to be.” He pulled her onto his lap and kissed her again. “Thanks to you, I may have to stay another night now.”

A warm burst of delight filled her chest. She wasn’t sure why, but her insecurities flared up the moment they’d finished having sex. Jason was the first person she’d ever had a one-night stand with and it left her feeling a bit—confused. She’d wanted to have sex with him, had thought of every scenario possible in the ways he would take her, possess her. She’d just never gotten around to what it would be like once that moment passed.

“I wish I could hang out for another day,” she said with a sigh. “As it is I’ve got to travel again tomorrow.”

“You really do travel a lot,” he pointed out, brushing his hands over her arms. “It doesn’t seem right to not be able to take the time to enjoy yourself.”

She shrugged. “It’s the nature of the beast, I guess, and I do make a good living, so I can’t complain. I also get to go to places I’ve always wanted to visit.”

He trailed his thumb over her lower lip, his gaze softening. “But you don’t get to enjoy the places you visit,” he repeated.

It was strange that he knew that about her. It was as if he had some kind of insight into her life. She frowned. “The views from my hotels are pretty cool, though.”

He chuckled. “What places have you been to?”

It might’ve been easier to list the cities she hadn’t visited. “New York, L.A., San Francisco, Paris, London—”

“Snobby places,” he replied, cutting her off and rolling his eyes.

  She grimaced.

“Ever been to Sturgis?” His hand slipped from her face to her breast and she quivered as he teased her nipple.
