“Yup, knew you’d be back. Good to see you brother. Lez go.”

Jaxon trailed his trusted tattoo artist back to the private room. He missed Lily already but looked forward to the meal she was probably concocting back at the villa. They’d decided to keep their oceanfront home for the times when their little family needed warm beachy breaks from the cold Tennessee winters. And honestly, there was no one else Jaxon trusted to ink him. Coming to see Ryan this one last time was on Jaxon’s bucket list. He had an unfinished work of art to fill in.

“So what am I doing you for today?”

Jaxon stripped off his shirt and extended his neck to the side. As soon as he exposed the trail of thorns, Ryan started nodding like he was grooving on some insanely deep but silent tune. “Yay-uh. All right. Whatcha need? We finally gonna give those pretty thorns a flower?”

Jaxon went into full detail of how he wanted Ryan to weave the phrase My love, my life, my Lily inside the trail of thorns with Lily’s name at the tail end of the stem, closest to his heart. “I want this part up here to have the lily flower.” He pointed at his neck.

“Cool. Okay, so, the lily was the symbol of innocence for some cultures but sexuality for others. Which is yours bro? We gonna go passion red or sweet peach for the color?”

“My girls the perfect mix, mate.”

“So like a pretty raspberry mixed with some cream. I think that gives us your girl, man.”

“That’s why I come to you.”

“I can translate it into Latin if you want. Just give me a few minutes to go jump on the translator.”

Jaxon stopped him before he left his stool. “That’s not necessary. No more hiding for me.”

Ryan chuckled. “Yeah man, I wasn’t gonna say anything but you got that puppy love glow. Looks pretty good on a dude your age.”

“When we’re done, I might kick your ass, mate.”

“You come back next month when you’re all healed up and we’ll arreglar cuentas.”

Jaxon flipped Ryan off with a star-studded smile and then relaxed his head against the back of the tall chair, translating the phrase in his best rusty Spanish. “Well, there won’t be much to settle; I trust you man,” Jaxon said.

Ryan came at him with the ink gun. “You know, all the times I’ve done you, you’ve never said that to me. Must be the girl.”

“Oh, there’s no question about that. It’s definitely the girl. Put her on me,” Jaxon said with a wink. He couldn’t wait to get home and show her his half of their one year anniversary present.
