Ryan activated his Asura eyes and Soul-sense as the Death land had incredibly low visibility from being veiled in fog. He started walking towards the Inner region of Desolate Graveyard. The Inner region was where the purest Death Elemental Energy was concentrated, and also the place where powerful beings of Death Attribute lived. Ryan had already decided to capture all the Undead creatures that came in his path.

Desolate Graveyard had its own unique vegetation, all of Death Attribute. The most common variety of Tree spirit found in any Death land with high concentrations of Death Elemental Energy is Corpse Tree spirit. Desolate Graveyard was littered with them.

Corpse Tree spirits emit a rotting smell and they use their branches and vines to attack their enemies. If a single Corpse Tree Spirit is hurt, all the other Corpse Tree spirits in the Death land become hostile to that being and attack it. As a result, Ryan traversed through the Death land, carefully maintaining a distance from all the Plant spirits and Tree spirits growing there. He knew that nothing good would come of making contact with one of them.

After traveling a little deeper, Ryan finally saw a few Undead creatures, Humanoids of one meter in height with lean bodies. Ryan was over the moon on seeing them. They were known as Blood imps and had the potential to evolve into vampires. Vampires are one of the strongest types of Undead creatures with immensely high potential. They are born with a Cultivation Level of Immortal Elite Realm and this alone says a lot about their terrifying strength and powers.

Ryan knew he was far from enslaving a real vampire, but he could get vampires for his Undead legion by enslaving Blood imps, as he was certain that so long as he could put the Blood imps into the Undead Rearing Space, they would evolve into vampires someday. Blood imps are unable to evolve into vampires in the wild because of the lack of pure Death Elemental Energy. However, they can easily evolve into vampires if they have access to large amounts of pure Death Elemental Energy – which was the last thing Ryan lacked.

There were one hundred twenty Blood imps, the strongest among them being at the late stages of the Mortal Elite Realm. They were currently devouring an unlucky Death Attribute Elemental Beast, which Ryan was unable to recognize as most of its flesh had already been devoured by the Blood imps. Ryan was certain the Blood imps would attack him the moment they detected his presence. He was not afraid of them, though, as he could easily suppress them with his Baleful aura, as their Cultivation Level was lower than his.

Ryan slowly walked towards the Blood imps, who looked in Ryan’s direction when they sensed his presence.

“Shshshsh!” The Blood imps shrieked loudly as they abandoned the corpse of the Elemental Beast and charged towards Ryan. Their attacking style was ridiculously simple. They simply charged at Ryan without using any strategy or feints to attack him – thus showed their abysmal intelligence.

Ryan smiled upon seeing their simplistic response and released his Baleful aura, which was meant to strike fear in his enemies. It quickly enveloped the Blood imps and quickly invaded their minds. Soon, they were struck with fear and had frightened looks on their faces. In their eyes, Ryan was no different from a Death God.

Ryan used this opportunity to create one hundred twenty Runic seals with the Undead Domination Martial Skill. On seeing the Runic seals, the Blood imps tried to resist but their bodies wouldn’t obey them. The Runic seals flew one by one into their bodies and embedded themselves onto their souls. Thus, the Blood imps were forcefully made to enter a Master-slave contract. The moment the Runic seals had bound the souls of all the Blood imps, Ryan could feel a connection with them and could understand their thoughts and feelings.

The Blood imps immediately went berserk after getting enslaved by Ryan and immediately attacked him. His eyes went wide with shock, as he knew that the Runic seals wouldn’t be able to keep the Blood imps in check. He found it hard to believe that even his Baleful aura had no effect on berserk Blood imps!

“Baleful aura can only affect sane creatures, but berserk creatures don’t feel fear,” Yama quickly cautioned Ryan, who finally understood everything.

“Ryan, send them into the Undead Rearing Space,” Earl suggested. Ryan nodded his head as he took out Death Sword from his Soul World.

Ryan channeled his Death Attribute Spirit Power into Death Sword, which shot a black beam from the tip of its blade. The black beam turned into a portal, that was connected to Death Sword’s Undead Rearing Space. He kicked the Blood imps into the portal one by one. Once he was done, he closed the portal and sent Death Sword back into his Soul World. He finally understood why it was so difficult for Death Martial Artists to form their own Death legions.

The moment the Blood imps entered the Undead Rearing Space, Death Sword started placing powerful Enslaving seals on them. The Enslaving seals merged with Ryan’s Runic seals and the Blood imps became sane again. A smile crept onto Ryan’s face as he saw the sudden change in their behavior. Death Sword started to provide the Blood imps with Death Elemental Energy soon after that and their gloomy moods immediately disappeared as they started absorbing the Death Elemental Energy frenetically.

Ryan was wonderfully satisfied with Death Sword’s Undead Rearing Space.

“Now, I just need to wait for them to evolve into vampires. It would be good if they could evolve into vampires before the opening of God’s Domain,” Ryan said with a cheeky smile.

Ryan started heading deeper into Desolate Graveyard soon afterwards. His intention was to capture thousands of Undead creatures. The Blood imps were just the appetizer.

  Ch.21

As he headed deeper into Desolate Graveyard the visibility became even worse due to the dense fog but that didn’t matter to Ryan as nothing could hide from his Asura eyes. He came across numerous Undead creatures like ghosts, evil spirits, ghouls, zombies and so on, while traveling for six days. All of them were successfully enslaved by him and sent to the Undead Rearing Space. Ryan had enslaved thousands of Undead creatures in the past few days, but he was certain that all of them would be able to evolve into higher undead beings and would thus have a sudden surge in their combat prowess.

The Inner region of Desolate Graveyard is a place avoided even by Martial Artists in the Early sub-realms of the Immortal Realm. Ryan was only able to reach that far because of Thorn. Many powerful Undead creatures and Death Attribute Elemental Beasts had tried to target Ryan, but they’d been swiftly dealt with by Thorn. Thorn would release his Aura to warn those beings from making a move against Ryan. The aura of a being with a Cultivation Level of Immortal Emperor Realm was enough to make most of them flee, but some of them didn’t heed Thorn’s warning and would end up dead within seconds.

As Ryan was travelling through the Inner region of Desolate Graveyard, he came across a grassland, whose grass was black in color and emitted a foul rotting smell, Rotting grass.

The grassland lacked the calm and quiet of Desolate Graveyard but was exceedingly chaotic and noisy. Ryan could hear the roars and wailing of Undead creatures and painful shrieks of Martial Artists. He could also hear weapons clashing against each other and explosions caused by powerful attacks from Undead creatures and Martial Artists. Ryan was currently in a dilemma about whether to go ahead or return, as he could tell that all was not well in that grassland: a war was most likely taking place.

“Roar!” Thorn gave a low roar. He was asking Ryan to continue moving ahead. On seeing Thorn’s confidence, Ryan continued moving forward at a slow pace, but he kept his eyes open for any anomalies.

The grassland sounded more chaotic and noisy with each passing minute, but Ryan finally came to know the reason for this.

He saw a big battle taking place between two armies, one army comprising thousands of Martial Artists and the other army thousands of Undead creatures. The Martial Artists were trying to take control of the Shrine in the middle of the grassland. The Shrine was currently under the control of the Undead creatures, which made Ryan curious about it. He guessed that it contained some powerful Heavenly Treas
ure or something of equal value, otherwise, the Martial Artists wouldn’t have been risking their lives to such an extent. He could see huge numbers of Martial Artists dying each minute.

Ryan used his Asura eyes to scan the Shrine and was dumbstruck. It sealed a powerful Immortal being, a Humanoid, so the Undead creatures that were trying to stop the humans were most likely its followers.

“What exactly is that being? Why is it so powerful?” Ryan asked. He was incredibly curious about it.

“It’s a Demon Ghost!” Earl said frantically. He was quite knowledgeable, as he had memories about all the beings that had tried to absorb him while he was still a Heavenly flame.

“What is a Demon Ghost? Is it an Undead creature?” Ryan asked in confusion. He had never heard of such an Undead creature.

“It is not an Undead creature. It’s actually a demon that has many Innate Abilities similar to those of ghosts. It is one of the most dangerous and powerful types of demons amongst the Demon race. A pure-blooded Demon ghost can even make dragons and phoenixes retreat in fear,” Earl explained.

“It is not that a Demon ghost possesses powerful combat prowess or anything similar, but its Innate Ability allows it to have absolute control over Undead creatures weaker than it. The number of Undead creatures that it can control at any one time depends on its bloodline purity,” he went on soberly.

“A Demon ghost with original-grade bloodline purity can control tens of millions of Undead creatures at a time. Undead creatures that are weaker than the Demon ghost follow the orders of the Demon ghost without questioning its authority,” he went on even more soberly.

“If a Martial Artist enslaves a Demon ghost, then he or she can control a powerful Undead legion without being a Death Martial Artist. The Demon ghost sealed in that Shrine most likely possesses mid-grade bloodline purity,” Earl further explained to them all.

Ryan then understood why the human Martial Artists were so set on taking control of the Shrine. He could also tell that it wouldn’t be easy for them, as the Undead creatures were putting up a strong front.

“Ryan, try to form a Demon contract with the Demon ghost. He would be tremendously helpful to us,” Yama suggested and Ryan nodded his head in agreement. If Demon ghosts were as terrifying as Earl described them, many of his plans for the future would be fabulously simple.

“Hey! Do you wish to get out of that cramped space?” Ryan sent a Mental-message transmission to the Demon ghost via one the Undead creatures under its control. The Demon ghost was startled for a second, as he didn’t know who was trying to contact him.

“I can get you out, but you will have to form a Demon contract with me,” Ryan said with a mischievous smile, as he sent another Mental-message transmission to the Demon Ghost via the Undead creature.

“I will guarantee your freedom. I am different from those people that are trying to enslave you and I won’t restrict your movements,” he said with another mischievous smile.

“If you are OK with these conditions, make the Martial Artists retreat for some time. Once the Demon contract is formed between us, I will be able to summon you out of the Spatial space you are sealed in,” he asserted, the mischievous smile playing on his face.

A Demon contract is equivalent to an Equal contract with an Elemental Beast but is meant for demons. The Demon ghost was stunned by Ryan’s offer. He could tell from Ryan’s voice that he was a young boy and his strength and powers were limited, yet he was asking an Immortal demon to form a Demon contract with him!

The Demon ghost was inordinately proud. He would never agree to Ryan’s offer – even if he had to stay sealed for his entire life!

How could he trust a human! They were the most deceitful creatures – it was a human who had sealed him there!

Ryan could tell that the Demon ghost was not showing any special interest in his offer, as he could not see the human army retreating or any sign that the Undead creatures were trying to make the human army retreat. Consequently, he decided to bait the Demon ghost with his Asura Martial Spirit, as Asuras are worshiped by demons. Ryan was certain that the Demon ghost would most certainly take the bait this time.

“It won’t be long before the Shrine is captured by the human army. The Undead creatures under your control can’t hold them back for long. If they capture the Shrine, you will just be a slave for countless years,” Ryan continued.

“If you form a Demon contract with me, I won’t mistreat you. You will have full freedom. I possess an Asura Martial Spirit, so you can guess my potential” he set the bait for the Demon ghost.

“If you form a Demon contract with me, you could even gain an Innate Ability or Abilities of the Asuras if you are lucky. Your bloodline purity will increase by a grade, even if you are unable to gain an Innate Ability of the Asuras,” he teased the Demon ghost via the Undead creature.

The Demon ghost was startled by Ryan’s words. It didn’t take him long to make up his mind to form a Demon contract with Ryan since he possessed Asura Martial Spirit and was least bothered about potential personal gains, as all demons wish to serve an Asura – and he was no different. He knew he could verify if Ryan was telling truth with a single look at his blood, so he wasn’t bothered about getting conned by Ryan.

It commanded the Undead creatures to make the human army retreat. The Undead creatures went berserk and started assaulting the Martial Artists with their full power. The human army was stunned for a second, when they saw the sudden change in the behavior of the Undead creatures, who were fighting without a care for their lives. The human army sustained massive damage, so it had no choice but to retreat. The Undead creatures also received substantial damage.

“Everyone retreat!” the person who was leading the human army roared while fighting a Bone dragon. The human army retreated swiftly following his command, as staying there any longer was akin to having a death-wish.

A smile appeared on Ryan’s face upon seeing this, as he knew that the Demon ghost had taken the bait and was ready to form a Demon contract with him. He was feeling giddy, as he would soon have another formidable partner.

Ryan shot into the sky and flew towards the Shrine at full speed. The Undead creatures didn’t try to attack him, but on the contrary, opened up a path for him to the shrine. The Demon ghost could see Ryan through the eyes of the Undead creatures under his control. He was immediately able to tell that Ryan was telling the truth after seeing Ryan’s blood-red eyes, as they are the Asura’s trademark.

The Shrine was all made of black stones. It had a single chamber inside with a Spatial whirlpool on its floor, that was connected to the space in which the Demon ghost was sealed.

“Master, drop your blood into the Spatial whirlpool and it will reach me,” the Demon ghost’s voice boomed in the shrine. Ryan nodded his head, bit his forefinger and dropped a few drops of blood into the Spatial whirlpool. The blood drops disappeared into it soon after falling into it and Ryan’s forefinger healed in the meantime.

The Demon ghost had a stunned expression when Ryan’s blood appeared in front of him. He subconsciously felt like bowing to Ryan’s blood, as it had similar properties to Asura blood and he could sense the Aura of Asura from Ryan’s blood. The Demon ghost was now certain that Ryan truly possessed an Asura Martial Spirit.

The Demon ghost quickly initiated the Demon contract and his body was covered in runes. He felt blessed, as he knew this was a life changing opportunity for him. Ryan’s blood quickly absorbed one of the runes on the Demon ghost’s body, and after that, similar runes appeared on Ryan’s body.

A smile appeared on Ryan’s face, while the Demon contract was initiated between him and the Demon ghost. He felt the formation of the Soul-link between them next, but once that was completed, the glowing runes on both their bodies disappeared.

Ryan also felt his affinity with Death Attribute increase to a whole new level. His expression was jubilant as his trip to Desolate Graveyard had been superbly beneficial – he’d gained a powerful partner and h
is affinity with Death Attribute had also increased to a whole new level.

Inside the sealed Spatial space, the Demon ghost roared as his body was shrouded in Unholy black light, a sign of his bloodline purity increasing. He might even gain an Innate Ability or Abilities of Ryan’s Martial Spirits. He entered a deep sleep-state for the completion of the process.

The human army initiated their second assault after two days. They had called powerful Immortals this time to help them clear away the Undead creatures guarding the Shrine. This time they were prepared for the berserk Undead creatures, who were slaughtered at a terrifying pace by the Martial Artists.

Seeing this Ryan wanted to curse his luck. At this rate, the human army would finally annihilate the Undead creatures within a day or two and take over the Shrine. He could tell that there were many Martial Artists with a Cultivation Level of Immortal Saint Realm amongst the ranks of the human army this time. Even the combined might of Thorn and Caius would be useless against this many powerful Immortals who were all armed with powerful artifacts of various kinds – and Thorn and Caius might even lose their lives. He could only rely on the Demon ghost for safely leaving Desolate Graveyard, but the Demon ghost had yet to wake up from his deep sleep-state.

Ryan asked Caius to form a toxic barrier around the Shrine, that even Martial Artists with the Cultivation Level of Immortal Saint Realm wouldn’t be able to bypass. Caius started to shine brightly as a green-colored barrier formed around the Shrine. Ryan then sat in one corner of the Shrine as he patiently waited for the Demon ghost to wake up from his deep sleep-state.

Just as Ryan had predicted, the Undead creatures were slaughtered within a day. The human army was currently standing at doors of the Shrine, but were unable to bypass Caius’s toxic barrier. Many Martial Artists sent their Soul-senses inside the toxic barrier to scan the Shrine.
