When Thorn sensed numerous Soul-senses approaching Ryan, he released his aura which enveloped Ryan. This was a little different from his Baleful aura, as it was transparent and made Ryan lose his presence. When the Soul-senses passed through them, the Martial Artists outside the Shrine were unable to sense anyone inside. Ryan and company were stunned. Soon a big smile appeared on Ryan’s face as he gently patted Thorn, who had just now saved him from a lot of hassle. If the Martial Artists standing outside had been able to scan Ryan with their Soul-sense, they would have known that he was inside the Shrine, which could have led to a catastrophe. Ryan just quietly sat in a corner of the Shrine without making noise, as he had no intention of attracting the attention of the Martial Artists outside the barrier.

Meanwhile the Martial Artists outside the barrier formed by Caius, were looking at it with frustration. Those who touched it died within a few minutes and their corpses rotted and withered away after some time. Even Ancestor Level Martial Artists had a similar end! They were unable to use powerful attacks to destroy the barrier, as that would destroy the Shrine and release the Demon ghost as well. Such an outcome was not at all desirable, as the Demon ghost sealed in the Shrine had the power to annihilate them all.

The Martial Artists could not do anything else except call for some powerful Poison Martial Artists to destroy the poison barrier. The Poison Martial Artists were immediately stunned when they saw the toxic barrier, as they recognised it immediately. Greedy looks appeared on their faces.

“It seems a Viper’s Touch Immortal Plant Spirit is guarding this Shrine, but why would a Viper’s Touch Immortal Plant Spirit appear in the middle of a Death land?” one of the Poison Martial Artists couldn’t help but ask.

All the Poison Martial Artists found that incredible, but the reality was in front of them. They decided to verify their findings by destroying the toxic barrier. The Poison Martial Artists started to detoxify the barrier around the Shrine with different kinds of poisons. After a few days, the barrier had become significantly weak, and Caius was unable to repair the toxic barrier under the relentless bombardment of poisons on it.

In the meantime, the Demon ghost had woken up from his deep sleep-state. His body was shrouded in Baleful aura like Ryan’s. It was clear that he had gained Asura Physique from Ryan, and with that, his combat power had increased by leaps and bounds too! Demon ghosts avoid close combat due to their weak bodies, but for the Demon ghost who’d formed a Demon contract with Ryan, that would now be a strong point.

“Master, thank you,” the Demon ghost said in a humble manner via Mental-message transmission. His power had increased to a whole new level after he’d gained the Asura Physique. His bloodline purity had increased to original-grade, which was something he’d never imagined would be possible for him.

“No need to call me, Master,” Ryan said gently via Mental-message transmission.

“Sorry, but I am unable to call you by your name,” the Demon ghost said via Mental-message transmission.

“Do whatever you feel like. I will be summoning you out of your prison,” Ryan said via Mental-message transmission as runes lit up on his body. These runes were like the ones that had appeared when the Demon contract had been initiated between them. They had disappeared after the completion of the Demon contract, but really, they’d just become invisible. A Martial Artist can use them to summon his or her partner and they become visible again then.

A Spatial hole opened above the Shrine!!

The human army was terribly alarmed upon seeing that, as they knew that such a Spatial hole only opened when someone summoned a contracted being of theirs.

The next scene made their eyes almost pop out.

They saw a Humanoid being fly out from it, a Humanoid being that was six meters in height and had a burly body! He had a smile on his face and blood-red eyes. His body was also red-colored and filled with bulging muscles. His hands had razor-sharp nails, which gave an uneasy feeling to anyone looking at them, and a horribly dense Baleful aura surrounding his body. Everyone instantly recognised the Humanoid: it was a Demon ghost and most likely the one that had been sealed in the Shrine.

The moment the Demon ghost appeared out of the Spatial hole. His body started to shine with red light following which hordes of Undead creatures appeared by his side. The expressions of all the Martial Artists paled upon seeing the Cultivation Levels of the Undead creatures. All were in the later sub-realms of the Immortal Realms. While sealed, the Demon ghost had been unable to call them, as he was unable to fully utilize his powers from inside the Shrine. All the Undead creatures looked respectfully towards the Demon ghost, which was something even an Asura could not achieve.

“Do you guys have any last wish?” the Demon ghost asked with a hysterical laugh. His razor-sharp teeth were on full display. The Martial Artists felt chills down their spines. They cursed their luck, but some of them soon regained their composure as they looked towards the Shrine in amazement.

“How was someone able to form Demon contract with the Demon ghost?” all of them thought. They had stunned expressions and were unable to accept the reality. They knew that a Martial Artist must have done it, as the beings that form a Demon contract or its equivalent can only be summoned by a Martial Artist. They were unable to digest that, as they’d paid a very big price, so they could enslave the Demon ghost.

They immediately wished to search for the person who’d trumped them and kill him, but they knew that the Demon ghost in the sky wouldn’t allow that.

  Ch.22

The Demon ghost was the first to launch the assault. All the Undead creatures around him dived down at the Martial Artists on the ground.

The Martial Artists knew they needed to flee from Desolate Graveyard as soon as possible, and let the world know about the Demon ghost forming a Demon contract with an unknown Martial Artist. Since they were unable to have the Demon ghost themselves, they wouldn’t allow that other person to have it either.

The different factions of Grandura had very high levels of competition amongst themselves, so they wouldn’t allow someone to gain a powerful Demon ghost, which alone could rival the power of a powerful faction.

Generally, powerful Demon ghosts never form Demon contracts with anyone – even enslaving one is not easy. They cause havoc wherever they go: massive loss of life and property, and they have a tendency to send hordes of Undead creatures to attack human cities to pass time.

To avoid such an outcome, Demon ghosts are immediately killed by the powerful factions of Grandura when they make an appearance. Each faction sends out Martial Artists to assist in killing it, as it is not easy for a single faction to kill one being assisted by thousands of Undead creatures. If a member of some faction can form a Demon contract with a powerful Demon ghost, all the factions try to get rid of him or her as well as the Demon ghost, irrespective of the consequences.

“Ancestor Eadric, you open the portal to the Sect. We will keep the Undead creatures busy in the meantime,” a middle-aged man, Hakon, said with a dreadfully pissed expression. He was the Grand Elder of the Life Stealing Sect and wished to rip apart the guy responsible for all this. The Life Stealing Sect predominantly had Death Martial Artists and was also a major power on Dragon Head Continent, as was the Divine Martial Sect.

“Got it,” Eadric said as he took out a Teleportation scroll from his Spatial pouch. This Teleportation scroll was different from the one used by Emilia. This one opened a portal that could teleport thousands of people, but since it was such a powerful teleportation scroll, some time was needed to activate it.

All the Martial Artists formed a human barrier around Eadric to protect him from Undead creatures while he was opening the portal. The Martial Artists fought the Undead creatures with their full might, using their most powerful attacks to deal with them without caring about the consumption of their Spirit Power. One explosion after another rocked the grassland. Their only intention was to stall the Undead creatures until Eadric had activated the T
eleportation scroll and opened a portal.

The Demon ghost made sure that the attacks of the Martial Artists didn’t hit the Shrine by having a few powerful Undead creatures protect it.

After half an hour, half the Martial Artists were dead and Eadric was still trying his best to activate the Teleportation scroll as quickly as possible, as he knew that he could not waste any time. The Demon ghost had not participated in the battle yet, as he was just watching the battle from high up the sky with a smile plastered on his face. It was clear he was toying with them.

“What should I call you?” Ryan asked the Demon ghost via Mental-message transmission.

“This one is called Isa,” the Demon ghost replied with complete respect via Mental-message transmission.

“Isa, let’s have a good talk after things get settled down,” Ryan said via Mental-message transmission and Isa nodded his head in agreement.

“I am done,” Eadric said happily as the Teleportation scroll in his hand turned into a portal.

All the surviving Martial Artists immediately entered the portal. Isa didn’t make things difficult for them, as he wanted everyone to know about him.

Once all the Martial Artists had gone, Ryan came out of the Shrine, with a big smile on his face. Isa appeared before him, still with an boundlessly respectful expression on his face. Ryan looked like a dwarf in front of him.

“Why were you sealed in that Shrine?” Ryan asked. He needed to know everything about Isa so he could plan things well in advance. If Isa had too many enemies, then he would have no choice but to keep him in his shadows.

“The Grand Elder of the Calamity Sect wished to form a Demon contract with me. I refused, so he then tried to enslave me. We fought for ten days, but in the end, he was still unable to defeat me so he decided to seal me until the day he had sufficient strength and powers to enslave me. I was unable to avoid getting sealed by him, so I attacked him with my most powerful Soul attack before getting sealed and he died after getting hit by it,” Isa explained to Ryan.

“In the past thousands of years, no one knew about this Shrine – it’s most likely he even kept his Sect in the dark about me. The Life Stealing Sect came to know about me by chance and wished to enslave me while I was still sealed. They could have easily enslaved me in that condition,” Isa said as a vicious expression appeared on his face.

“But Master, came in time! I was saved!” Isa said and a bright smile appeared on his face.

“No need to thank me,” Ryan said. He felt uncomfortable, as he’d saved Isa because of his personal greed.

“I know the reason Master has saved me, and I don’t mind it. I have gained a lot too by forming a Demon contract with Master,” Isa said, as he could guess Ryan’s thoughts.

“Well, do you wish to live in Desolate Graveyard or come with me?” Ryan asked, as he didn’t wish to enforce his will on his partners.

“I need to finish off a few things, so I will be travelling around Grandura for the time being,” Isa said as a vicious expression again appeared on his face. Ryan knew that Isa was thinking of taking revenge.

“I don’t mind you travelling around Grandura, but it is terribly dangerous to attack a powerful faction. My Master made that mistake and almost died,” Ryan said with a serious expression.

Isa slowly nodded his head as he understood the meaning behind Ryan’s words. He felt happy that he had such a caring Master.

“First, increase your personal strength and powers,” Ryan told Isa.

“Master, I’ve already reached the pinnacle of the Immortal Realm. I will have to ascend to a Divine World to further improve,” Isa said with a gloomy expression.

“I have a solution to that problem,” Ryan said with a mysterious smile, as he channeled the Death Elemental Energy emitted by Death Sword to Isa via the Soul-link between them.

Isa had an extraordinary change in his expression when he received Death Elemental Energy of such extreme purity and was unable to think straight as something impossible had just happened.

“Don’t speak to anyone about it. Just concentrate on increasing your personal strength first,” Ryan instructed Isa, who vigorously nodded his head. He knew that if his Master’s secret leaked, it could lead to catastrophic consequences. Deep down, he was feeling giddy, as he could finally continue along the Martial Path without a hitch.

“Are you going take all these Undead creatures with you or leave them behind?” Ryan asked curiously as there were thousands of them beside them.

“I am going to take them with me,” Isa said as all the Undead creatures around them turned into black-colored beads instantaneously. The beads collected together to form necklaces which flew onto Isa’s neck. On seeing this, Ryan was stunned and soon a shrewd smile appeared on his face.

“Isa, can you make necklaces similar to yours that could help me in protecting my family from harm?” Ryan asked curiously. If Isa could do that, then his family members would have the protection of powerful Undead creatures.

“Yes, I can,” Isa replied with a smile, as he understood the meaning behind Ryan’s words perfectly.

On hearing Isa’s reply, Ryan was elated.

“So the beads will turn back into Undead creatures and fight the enemies of my family and then again turn into beads?” Ryan said with a happy expression.

Isa nodded his head. He was happy that he could help Ryan.

“Isa, can you make necklaces out of the Undead creatures under my control?” Ryan asked.

“Yes, I can,” Isa said, but he was unable to find any reason for doing so.

“I have unsealed an Innate Ability of the Asuras that boosts Undead creatures under my control,” Ryan said with an impish smile and Isa understood everything immediately.

“Isa, can you ask a few powerful Undead creatures to let me enslave them?” Ryan asked.

Isa nodded his head as a few necklaces on his neck transformed back into Undead creatures. These were the strongest Undead creatures amongst all the Undead creatures under his control. They were of varying types like Bone dragons, Zombies, Ghouls and so on and each of them was releasing a powerful vicious aura.

Ryan formed hundreds of Runic seals and sent them into the bodies of the Undead creatures. The Runic seals embedded themselves into their souls thus marking the formation of Master-slave contracts. A link was formed between Ryan and the Undead creatures after the Runic seals embedded themselves into their souls. These Undead creatures could easily have removed the Runic seals but didn’t because of Isa’s order.

Once the Runic seals were in place, Ryan opened the portal to the Undead Rearing Space, and ordered the Undead creatures to enter it. Once inside, Death Sword started placing a very powerful Enslaving seal on each of them which made sure that they could never escape Ryan’s control.

When Death Sword had finished placing the seals on them, Ryan called them out of the Undead Rearing Space. They were covered in a red aura like Murderous aura, but different at the same time. It was an after-effect of the Evil Boost Innate Ability and made them appear more vicious and terrifying. Isa was stunned, as he could tell that the powers of the Undead creatures had been amplified by a large margin – some of them could even compete with him in terms of raw power.

“Isa, I need four necklaces at present,” Ryan said with a smile.

“OK, Master,” Isa said as he transformed some of the Undead creatures into black beads which then merged together to form four bead necklaces. Within seconds, four necklaces were formed, each of ten black beads. Since Isa was quite big in size he could wear necklaces with numerous black beads, but humans possess smaller physiques, so ten black beads were sufficient for making a necklace for a human, as the black beads were quite big in size. Isa then handed over the necklaces to Ryan, who was unable to contain his excitement when he received them from Isa.

Ryan could feel a connection with all the beads. He quickly gave the Undead creatures a few instructions. The Undead creatures readily agreed and Ryan was happy see
ing their reactions. He finally had a way of keeping his family safe.

“Isa, keep the remaining Undead creatures with you. They are many times stronger than before,” Ryan said. Isa nodded his head and all the Undead creatures turned into beads which joined together to form a few necklaces which flew onto his neck. Isa had a big smile on his face, as he was happy to receive hundreds of powerful Undead creatures. Due to Evil boost these Undead creatures were far stronger than Normal Undead creatures with similar Cultivation Levels.

“I will return to the Sect,” Ryan said as he looked at Isa, who nodded his head.

“Master, I will accompany you to the outskirts of Desolate Graveyard,” Isa said as he turned into black smoke that merged with Ryan’s shadow. Ryan was stunned for a second before a smile crept on his face as he could no longer feel Isa presence. It was as if he had vanished into his shadow. Ryan was happy seeing this, as Isa could in future follow him around without a hitch.

Ryan traced his steps as he started heading towards the exit of Desolate Graveyard. Caius and Thorn formally introduced themselves to Isa during the return journey, and it didn’t take them long to get along with each other. Isa was very happy to have some friends after living in solitude for thousands of years.

Ryan kept on enslaving Undead creatures on his way back. He didn’t have to fight them anymore. Isa commanded them to let Ryan enslave them and they complied. By this means, the number of Undead creatures in his Undead Rearing Space already exceeded hundreds of thousands. Ryan would not be able to use them whenever he wished, however, as that would unnecessarily alarm all the factions of Grandura. They were only meant for doing things behind the scenes.

Isa separated from Ryan and company after they reached the outskirts of Desolate Graveyard. Ryan gave him a few more instructions before he left them.

Ryan did some last-minute preparations before arriving at the Divine Martial Sect. He placed a few Undead creatures inside the Undead pouch given to him by his Master, as he could not open the portal to the Undead Rearing Space in front of others, because the appearance of Death Sword would cause unnecessary trouble for him.
