Dirty Chaos

I pull away and open the passenger door, moving the seat all the way back. The light from my car illuminates us. I turn to look at her and she doesn’t hesitate to pull her shirt off. I can’t help but kiss her all over her neck and chest. It’s making me harder just seeing her bare skin. I remove her bra and she removes my shirt. I take her into my arms and kiss her. The warmth of her breasts is against mine. She begins to unzip my pants and I undo hers. I sit in the car and recline the seat as far down as it can go. She sits on top of me and I close the door. The love that we just share is unforgettable. I love her more now than I did a few moments ago, and I’ll love her more tomorrow than I do today.

Life without love is just life. Life with love is chaos but euphoric.

  Few Months later

“I really wish you were here,” I sigh into the phone. “Moving in to a new home is no joke.” I look around the room at all the mess I still have to put away: eighteen years of junk stuffed in so many boxes.

“I know, babe. I wish I could be there too. I hate that you had to move in all by yourself,” Luka says. He has been on tour with the American Motocross Association since three days after graduation. I was able to travel with him at the beginning, but now college is about to start and we need to move into our new home.

He qualified for so many races all over the United States that sponsors have been pouring in with merchandise and money since he won his first few races. He has been named the biker to watch for 2015. It’s what we have been working toward, but the long distance relationship sucks.

“Luka, are you sure we are not rushing into this? I mean, we are young and reckless, but I don’t want you to feel like we have to do this now.” I question as I hang up some of my clothes. I won’t worry too much about the rest of the boxes, many might be returning back home.

“Lola. I. Love. You. Always and forever. Do you understand that? Do you feel that? People search for years, even decades for the kind of love we found at eighteen. This just means we are starting our love story earlier. So no second thoughts, you got it?” Every day I fall more in love with this boy. God, I miss him.

“I know, I just love hearing you say it.” I laugh into the phone.

“Funny, don’t scare me like that again. It still hurts from the last time we were apart.” I hated that time too. I can’t believe that it was just a few months ago; it feels like ages ago.

“I have to go to your Uncle Jack’s place tomorrow and pick up your stuff. Your mother told me that she packed everything up and left it in your room. She thought it made more sense to leave it there than have to move it to her house and then here.” Just two weeks after Luka won his first race, he signed a sponsorship with a major energy drink. That gave him enough money for a down payment for his mother’s new home.

“Okay. Make sure Nolan and Brian help you organize the house. It’s their home too. Take care, baby. See you soon. Love you,” he says, sounding so exhausted.

I thought Luka was going to get upset when I mentioned that Nolan, Brian, and I wanted to move in together given our history, but he was actually calm about it. He said that if he wasn’t here to protect me, who better than the boys that helped me grow up? The catch was that he moved in, too.

“Love you too, bye.” I hang up the phone and make my way downstairs. I can hear the boys outside directing the party organizers. Only boys would throw a backyard party on the first day you move in to a new house. Good thing downstairs is clear of any mess. All the organizing that needs to be done is upstairs in our rooms.

I made them promise not to turn our home into a fraternity with endless parties. Nolan put up a fight, but he conceded when I gave him permission to throw at least one party every two weeks. I just didn’t think the first one would be today.

“Hey, Lo, Mayberry was able to make it to the party. It is going to be insane,” Brian yells as soon as I walk out the backdoor. I can see the guys from the band setting up. I wave at them. Even though Hector was in our graduating class, I still get a bit star struck when I see him, but then again the same thing happens when I see the rest of the band members out and about in town.

“Where is Nolan?” I ask Brian. They have tables set up already, some against the fence, others in front of the pool. The band is in one corner and the pool has beach balls and other water assortments. It does look like it is going to be wild. Too bad I hate parties.

“Where else? Liquor run.” Ever since Nolan’s stunt, I have to know where he is at all times. We talked at length about his rehab and how we as a family can support him. It was the other condition I gave him if he wanted to live with us. I love him, and I just don’t know what would happen if we are not as lucky again next time. My hidden truth is that I need them by my side since Abuelita died.

“Okay, I’m going upstairs to finish getting ready for tonight.” Brian gives me a wave as he continues to talk to Brayden, the band’s drummer.

When I started my senior, I knew it was going to bring a lot of change. My one and only goal was to make it into WDA. That was going to change the plans the boys and I had. I never imagined that I was going to lose my abuelita, that I was going to fall in love with a boy I just met, or that Nolan was going to stop playing football, something that I never saw coming or that Brian chose to stay with us rather to move away with his baseball scholarship. We grew up in a span of a few months, but I’m glad we didn’t grow apart.

I stop reminiscing as I hear the music drift inside. It’s time to get downstairs; I have been stalling long enough. I don’t know anyone out there and have I mentioned I hate parties? I wish Luka were here. He talks to everyone and everyone likes him. I walk downstairs as soon as they start playing, “Favorite Distraction.” I definitely miss Luka more now. I walk outside, no one stopping me to say hello. I stand at the edge of the crowd listening to the music. I can see most of our classmates already wasted.

“Here she is, my favorite girl in the whole wide world.” Nolan hugs me tight. He is drunk already.

  “Nolan, you promised,” I say.

“Lola, please just tonight.” He pouts and walks away.

All of a sudden, I get swept into the air.

“Oh my God, Nolan if you drop me I will kill you!” I yell.

“But I just got here baby, I don’t want to die,” Luka whispers in my ear.

“What? How?” I yell as he puts me down. I swing into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist.

“I was a good boy so I was released early.” He smirks. “But I can tell you this: I won’t be tonight.”

“Luka!” I warn before I take his lips in a deep kiss.

I can hear the band playing “Heartbeat” in the background. It was the first song I heard from them. I feel Luka moving us to the beat. I tighten my legs, afraid he might drop me.

“I have always wanted to dance with you under the stars. I had not realized until this moment that we have never danced together. You being a dancer, you should’ve been on top of this.”

“Well, when I am with you I think about other things besides dancing.”

  “Dirty things?”

“Yep. What can I say? You bring out the dirty in me.”

“God I missed you, Lola,” he says as he kisses me again.

“I love you so much. I thank Abuelita and her minions for making sure I didn’t miss you at school.”
