Releasing Kate: The Acceptance Series

“Okay,” she replies, laying her head on my shoulder. Connor must have heard the truck door close because he opens the front door for me.

“Hey.” He’s smirking at me and I know he’s thinking that I one-upped Mike. If only he knew…

  “Hey, Daniel.”

“What…no ‘hi Kate’?” she asks him.

“Well, I’m still pretty pissed at you. In fact, I’m so pissed that I’m kidnapping you tomorrow and we’re spending the day together, just the two of us. Get some sleep, princess; you’re going to need it.” He says it with a smile; even Connor can’t be pissed at her for long.

“I love you Connor,” she tells him sleepily.

“I love you, too, Kate. Goodnight.”

I proceed to carry her up the stairs, close the door behind me, and set her down. Leaning up against the door, I see her expression change from sleepy to aware. “Strip,” I instruct in a firm tone. Kate cocks an eyebrow at me and then slowly turns around, bends over, and takes off her shoes. She did that on purpose so I could watch her ass as she did it and my dick responds just like I’m sure she intended. After the shoes come off, she removes her shirt, then shimmies out of her should-be-illegal, ass-hugging jeans.

She stands before me in only her bra and panties—a sexy, black lace set. It’s an image that will be at the forefront of my spank bank for a while.

“Is this how you want me?” she asks innocently, even though we both know she’s anything but.

“Do you sleep with your bra and panties on?”

“No, Mr. McCormick, I don’t. Would you like to see what I wear under my pajamas?” Her tongue licks across her bottom lip as she bites down. She’s so fucking hot and I don’t think she has any clue.

Inching closer to her, I reply, “Yes, Ms. Moore, I’d very much like to see.”

As she removes her bra and I watch it fall to the floor, it takes all my willpower not to take her perfect nipples in my mouth. They’re so nice and big, and that nipple ring just calls out my name.

  Willpower, Daniel. Willpower.

  “Panties?”

“Unless I’m going to get myself off, the panties stay on.”

  Fuck willpower; it’s overrated.

Reaching behind me, I lock her door. “Panties off, now,” I demand.

I begin to strip out of my clothes, but at the last second decide to leave my shirt on. She cannot see this tattoo. I use my hesitation to my advantage as she starts to stutter over her words, “Daniel, I thought we weren’t going to have sex.”

“We’re not,” I reply, pulling her to me and taking her mouth with mine. Releasing her from the kiss, I lead her to the bed and lie down next to her. Guiding her hand in-between her legs, I tell her what we’re going to do, “I want to watch you make yourself come, Kate, and you’re going to watch me. We don’t have to have sex to give each other pleasure, but this is so much better than phone sex.”

Her free hand reaches up and caresses her breast while the hand I placed between her legs circles her clit, teasing it until it’s a hard nub. Climbing between her legs, I reposition myself so I’m up on my knees. This is the best goddamned view I’ve ever fucking seen.

Slowly, I start stroking my dick while I watch her. “You’re so beautiful, Kate, let me see how bad you want me.”

She looks at me with hooded eyes, lips parting slightly with the most erotic sounds escaping her as she watches me stroke myself right between her legs. “God, Daniel, I want you, I want you so much,” she says and then slides two fingers inside her pink pussy. Propping herself up on her elbow so she can get a better view, she forgoes the breast play to watch me instead. Damn, I could come now I’m so turned on. I’m so close to her, I’m fighting every urge to just slide inside her. It would be so easy—she’s so wet, her tight pussy would grip my dick so tight I’d forget everything else except how perfect she is for me. I groan just thinking about it and squeeze my balls when I see her slide a third finger inside.

“Oh god, Daniel, this is torture. You’re so close and I want you so…so bad.” Her breath hitches and she starts fucking her hand with an even harder intensity.

“I’m right here, baby, and I’m so close. Just let go, Kate, let me watch you. Let me hear you, baby.”

The second she screams my name and I see her tight pussy convulse around her hand, I call out her name and come all over her already wet pussy and hand. “Oh yeah, Daniel, make me yours!” Her body is still trembling, and as she slowly pulls her fingers out, I lean down and suck them into my mouth, one by one. My personal fucking gumdrop. I’ll never get enough of her.

Covering her body with mine and placing my hand behind her head, I lower my lips to hers and kiss her tenderly.

“I love you, Kate,” I tell her as I pull away.

“I love you, too. Stay with me?” I’m already off the bed heading to the bathroom. I hold a finger up so she doesn’t think I’m ignoring her as I warm up a washcloth for her to clean up and grab a dry towel, too. She accepts them with a grateful smile.

“It’s not a good idea for me to stay; I don’t think I could keep my hands off you all night. But I’ll see you Saturday?”

  “Absolutely.”

After I’m dressed, I hand her my shirt from the boat. It’s the reason I had her strip in the first place. “Here you go, let me know next time you have to wash it and I’ll bring you a new one.” I’m chuckling as I hand it to her.

“Hey, McCormick, it’s your fault…you’re the one who sent the picture.”

“That I did,” I say, placing a kiss on her forehead. “Goodnight, Kate.”

“Goodnight, Daniel. Thank you for tonight, honestly, for everything. I really did have a good time.”

  “Me, too, Kate.”

  Me, too.

  CHAPTER TEN

  KATE

Last night I had the best sleep I’ve had in weeks. I almost forgot how good Daniel makes me feel when we’re together. Things are just so easy with him, almost effortless. I’m smiling like a fool when Jess knocks on the door, except it’s not Jess—it’s Connor.

“So I heard a little bit of fun escape these walls last night, which means you should be in a great mood today. Get up and shower, I’m taking you to breakfast. Nice shirt, by the way,” he says with a smirk and then closes the door behind him.

  Shit.

Not that it matters what he heard; I’m pretty sure Connor wants me with Daniel and not Mike, anyway. Those two, my god they’re going to drive me into an early grave. I need to do a better job at keeping my distance because they both turn me on beyond measure.

Before leaving, we quickly go check in on Vanessa. Jess is already over there making her breakfast and shooting the breeze.

“Kate, you look beautiful this morning!” Vanessa exclaims when she sees me and I blush.

“Oh, I get it,” she says with a laugh. “Well, for what it’s worth, your secret is safe with me.”

Connor laughs, “It’s not you she has to worry about; it’s those two and their not-so-subtle pissing match they have going on.”

“So how are things going over here?” I ask, sitting next to her at the table.

“Things are good, really good,” she says with a beaming smile. “Chad and his fiancée broke up and he says he misses me.”

  I’m stunned.

“Wow, Vanessa, that’s really great!” I’m excited for her. I know how much she loves him and the fact that he’s taking the first step so she knows he cares is wonderful.

“What about Daniel and Mike?” Not that I’ve been encouraging them to be with her. I’ve finally realized a family won’t be an option until they know whose baby it is, but at least they’re getting to know her now so it might be an option later.

She shakes her head at me. “You know my heart is with Chad. He might not be the father but I think we’ll be able to co-parent pretty easily with either of them. I was open to a family, Kate, but now everything is different. Chad is my family and always has been.”
/>   “So are you going to move back in with him?” Connor asks incredulously. I can see he’s ticked that I’m supporting her and now she’s going back to Chad.

“No, we’re going to try dating. There’s still a lot to work out and the two of us living together didn’t work out so well the first time. I’m trying to do the responsible thing for once. I want to learn how to be a mom and a co-parent before anything else. We’re just going to take baby steps. And I’m really excited to get into the internship program Kate is setting me up with. I finally feel like my life can be good—that I actually can have a purpose.” She flashes me a beautiful smile and I take her hand in mine. I’m so proud of her and so happy for her that things are working out.

“Oh, sweetie,” Jess says, “you’ve always had a purpose, you’re just finally finding out what it is.”

“Okay, enough sappy shit. Can we go, Kate? I’m wasting away, let’s go eat, woman!” Connor loves to demonstrate his impeccable whining skills.

“Sure, Connor, let’s go get you some food before you waste away in front of us. We’re still on for Sunday, right, Vanessa?”

“Absolutely, I can’t wait to go shopping for the nursery,” she replies happily.

“I can’t wait to go shopping for the nursery,” Connor mimics when we get to the car.

“Connor Houston! Be nice! She’s having a baby with one of your best friends.”

“Yeah, she’s such a peach. Not only does she not know who the father is, and letting you support her, but she’s getting back with her ex. I don’t know, Kate, I still don’t buy it. I wouldn’t be surprised if that baby was Chad’s. Admit it…doesn’t it seem a little coincidental that she’s getting back with her engaged ex?”

He’s such a negative Nancy. I know she’s played them in the past but people change and that’s exactly what I tell him.

“People change, Connor, sometimes for the better. I’m happy for her that Chad realizes how much he misses her. Getting back together with a pregnant ex can’t be easy. I’m still holding out hope that she makes a family with the baby’s father, though.”

“Ha! The only reason you want that is because it will make your choice for you. You’ve got it easy right now dating them both. When that baby comes, if they don’t make a choice, you’ll have to, and you’re not even prepared for that.” What he says is the truth, even if I don’t like it.

“Whatever,” I reply, frustrated, and he pulls into the diner we went to on my birthday. “Besides I wouldn’t say that dating them both is easy. It’s nice to get to know them both, but the problem is that I love them both for different reasons.”

Of course, Mike’s old pal Misty is our waitress again and she’s just as chatty as last time. “Hey there! Is it just the two of you today?”

“Yup, just us two. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do today, right, Katie Grace?”

When he says that she literally stops in the middle of the restaurant and spins around, “You’re Katherine?” she chokes out, obviously shocked.

Connor shrugs his shoulders. “I am,” I tell her, and she seems to get her wits back again and walks us to our table.

“I’m sorry; I’ve heard Mike talk about you before. You guys were together for a long time; you’re the reason he could never give anyone a chance. He never got over you…” her voice quietly trails off.

“Yeah, they’re trying to work through all that now,” Connor tells her nicely. Mike has obviously told this girl more than he ever told the guys, which is interesting. Suddenly, I’m looking at her in a different light, a jealous light, and I don’t like the feeling…not one single bit.

“Well…um…good luck and I’ll be back in a few minutes to get your orders. Oh, sorry, can I start you with some drinks?” She’s completely flustered and I wonder how much more there actually is to her and Mike’s story.

“Water and an orange juice for me,” I say distractedly.

“Same,” Connor tells her and we both watch her walk away. “What was that all about? She sure does seem to know a lot about you and Mike. I know they were friends but I’ve never heard him talk about you before. How did she know?”

“He must have been closer to her than he let on; she seems to still have feelings for him. I can empathize.” Then he does it, he flipping winks at me and I burst into uncontrollable laughter. “Hey, what can I say? You’re wink worthy.” And I laugh even harder. He did that just for me and I love him for it. A new waitress brings us our drinks.

“Where did Misty go?” Connor asks her with his dazzling smile. This is the one women get flustered by and it works like a truth serum.

“Oh…um…she…she…uh wasn’t feeling well and had to go home. Are you ready to order or do you need a few more minutes?” she asks, regaining her composure. We place our orders and sit in silence for a few minutes.

“Okay, that wasn’t just me, right? That was really, really weird?”

“No that wasn’t just you.” I let out a sigh. “I think we need to have Mike come and talk to her sooner rather than later.”

After our food arrives, and we’re pleasantly stuffed, Connor informs me we’re driving out to see his mom. That gives him over two hours to drill me on recent events so I might as well give him the opening I know he’s going to take anyway.

“I’m sorry about how I acted at your house a few weeks ago and I’m really sorry I’ve been such a crap-ass friend to you,” I tell him sweetly and with a smile.

“I know you are and it’s okay. We just haven’t had any time together and with things strained between you and Jess I thought a day trip could do us good. Besides, I have to know…Are you fucking them both?”

  Well, that didn’t take long.

“Hey, if you are, more power to you. Seriously, you’ve needed to make up for lost time for a while now. I just like the insider’s point of view is all.”

He’s lying; he wants to know if he should be worried about me. It’s sweet.

“I’m not exactly having sex with them but we’ve done sexual things. It has to stop, though. It’s not good for any of us to let these feelings get deeper and stronger than they already are.”

“Well, it sounded like you were enjoying it. Too bad you want to put a stop to something that sounds so fun.”

My eyes are growing wider, I can feel them. “Connor Houston, how much did you listen to last night?”

“Anything that was audible, not gonna lie. I’m a perve and I’m going to ignore the fact that we’re like siblings right now and tell you the truth. You sound really hot when you come.” He’s being completely serious.

  “Oh my god! Connor!”

“What? You do. Ask Jess, even she thinks so. She also thinks it ups Daniel’s fuckability rating, too. Watch out…if you don’t pick him, she’s going to leave me and snap him up, I can see it now.”

All I can do is laugh. I learned a long time ago that Connor could mortify me in so many ways and I had to learn how to brush it off. “I think you’re just trying any angle you can to get me to pick Daniel.”

He’s shaking his head. “Do you want to know the truth? It might sting a little, and I don’t mean for it to, but I feel like I should warn you.” He’s so solemn; this is going to be bad.

“Yes I want the truth, always. Don’t ever sugar coat it for me.”

“Alright, here it goes. I honestly don’t think you should pick either of them,” he says, blowing out a breath.

  What?

“Why?” I’m stunned by his answer.

“Look, they’re my brothers and I would give my life for theirs, but I lost a lot of respect for them when they decided it would be a good idea to ask you to date them both.”

  Silence.

  Deafening silence.

“So now you think badly of me because of it?” I ask, my voice flooded with sadness.

“No, Kate, not at all. If it were you dating two guys just in general I’d be telling you to fuck them both and see who was better suited for you. Now, afte
r your outburst the other night, we both know they have…oh, how did you so eloquently put it? That’s right… ‘fantastic fucking cocks’. Kudos to you for that, too; I think you shocked everyone with that one.”

Oh shit, I forgot about that one. Oops.

  “I’m confused.”

“Your determination was, and still is, admirable. You were trying to keep them away to preserve friendships and also to give Vanesbitch a fighting chance with her baby daddy.”

Oh shit. Vanesbitch. That’s hilarious, but I’m not going to encourage him

“They were more concerned about who was going to get in your pants to see that you were looking at the bigger picture. I’m disappointed in them; they’re being really selfish.”

“They’re not, Connor, really. When Mike first talked to me about it, I was beyond shocked, but the more he explained it, the more I got it. Mike isn’t the boy I knew four years ago; he’s a different man now.”

He’s nodding along, which means he’s listening. Good.

“As for Daniel, as much as I love him, and what I know of him, I don’t actually know him yet and that was a hard realization to swallow. This is giving me the chance to see which one, if either of them, is the right man for me. Now with Vanessa being back together with Chad, I feel a little less crappy about the whole thing. But I’m still not having full on sex with either of them. We’re just testing the waters.”

“You just said if either of them are the man for you. Does that mean you’re having doubts?”

“That means I’m still reserving the right not to choose between them. I’m trying to find the balance. There are things about both Mike and Daniel that I love, and things I’m realizing I didn’t know about them.”

“Like what?” He’s awfully curious today, but we haven’t talked in a few weeks, so I guess it makes sense.

“Well, Mike seems to have some anger issues he didn’t use to have and his sexual preferences have changed a lot since we were together.”

  “All true.”
