After some fumbling, he freed my dick from my pants, and I groaned with relief. As he started stroking me, I couldn’t help moving my hips, rising and falling in a pantomime of riding his cock, and . . . Fuck. That was a sexy thought, wasn’t it? I didn’t bottom often, but damn if the thought of riding his dick wasn’t irresistible right then, and not just because he was probably sore from earlier. Except we still had clothes on, and the condoms and lube were . . . Fuck, we had brought them, hadn’t we? Of course we had. We’d used them earlier.

“We have condoms left?” I asked.

“Mm-hmm.” Garrett gave my cock a slow, tight pull. “I’ve always got plenty handy if I’m going to be around you.”

“Mmm, good.” I moaned and kissed him. “Because I want you just like this.”

Garrett squirmed under me and dipped his head to skate his lips along my neck. “Might be kind of tough for you to top me from there.”

“Who said anything about topping you?”

He whimpered against my neck. “You serious?”

“Uh-huh.” I pressed against his clothed dick. “You like that idea?”

“Oh, yeah.” He nipped under my jaw. “Might need to get some clothes out of the way, though.”

  “Good thinking.”

We got up, stripped out of our clothes, and climbed back into the guest bed. Just like before, he sat up against the headboard, this time with a pillow tucked behind his back, and bit his lip as I straddled him again.

“You do like this position, don’t you?” he murmured between kisses.

“I’ll like it even better once you put a condom on.”

He sucked in a sharp breath, then kissed me harder and held me tighter. “Assuming I don’t come just thinking about it.”

I sort of moaned, sort of laughed and broke the kiss to reach for the lube and one of the condoms we’d left on the nightstand.

Garrett took it from me, tore the wrapper, and started rolling on the condom. As he did, he glanced up at me. “I didn’t think you bottomed.”

“I usually don’t.” I poured some lube into my palm. “But sometimes . . .”

Garrett met my gaze. “Any time the mood strikes, you know where to find me.”

“Uh-huh. Well the mood is striking me right now.”

“And thank God for that,” he growled, sliding his hands up my bare chest.

As I positioned myself over him, he steadied his cock with one hand and my hip with the other. I held his shoulders and eased myself down. As the thick, blunt head pressed against me, I hesitated, reminding myself to breathe and relax.

“I can finger you first,” he said. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

  I shook my head. “No, I’m good. I’m . . . I can handle it.”

“I want you to enjoy it, not ‘handle it.’”

I leaned in and kissed him. “I’m good. I promise. I have done this before.”

“Okay. Anything you want, say the word. I mean it—I don’t want to hurt you.”

Our eyes met, and the sincerity in his was almost as palpable as the desire. God, no wonder I was willing—eager, even—to bottom for him. He was safe. He was kind and giving and considerate. He wasn’t the first to say he didn’t want to hurt me, but I believed him in ways I’d never believed any other man. In profound ways I was too dizzy and turned on and overwhelmed to comprehend right then.

And it just made me want him that much more.

I lowered myself a bit farther and bore down a little, and when the head of his cock slipped in, I couldn’t help but groan.

Garrett’s hand drifted up my thigh to my hip. “You sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah.” I licked my lips. “It’s . . . just been a while.” Maybe I should’ve had him finger me, but I’d done this before without much prep. Okay, so the last guy hadn’t been as blessed as Garrett, but I was fine.

“Go as slow as you need to.” His voice was as gentle as his touch. “I’m in no rush.”

I nodded—but didn’t speak—and concentrated on relaxing. I eased myself down, eyes watering as he stretched my hole. It didn’t hurt or anything—it was just really, really intense. Conflicting needs scrambled my brain. Now that I had him in me, I wanted every inch, but at the same time, I wasn’t sure I could handle any more. I wanted to ride him hard, feel him pounding me, but I also wanted to go slow so I could feel the smooth slide of his thick cock.

He slid across my prostate, and I sucked in air through my teeth.

  “This all right?” he breathed.

“Uh-huh. So good.” Now that I was relaxed enough, now that I could take him easily, I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he put his around my waist, and for a while, we just kissed like that—holding on to each other, his cock buried to the hilt inside me. My hips moved a little, but only enough to keep stimulating us both in the most deliciously mind-blowing way.

This couldn’t have been more different from earlier, but it was no less intense. Every movement was gentle and subdued, and every nerve ending was alight just like they had been when we’d bruised and bitten each other.

We barely made a sound. I moved too slowly for the bed to protest. I claimed a deep, needy kiss and continued my easy, fluid motions, savoring every stroke as his cock moved inside me. We kissed too much to speak, and even our soft moans were swallowed up and muffled. Only the wet sounds of kissing and the whispers of hands running over skin kept the room from being completely silent.

Little by little, I picked up speed, but not much—just enough to make him gasp. Good thing we’d already gone one round today, or I’d have come by now, and I wanted this to last. He felt so good—not just his cock, but his body against mine, his arms around me, his lips teasing mine in between gulps of air.

Garrett shivered, fingers digging into my hips. “Oh, fuck you feel good,” he whispered. “Jesus, Jesse . . .” He whimpered softly and shuddered. His fingers dug into my hips, and when he let his head fall back, I leaned down to kiss his neck. A hand suddenly materialized on the back of my head, and he gripped my hair as if to hold me in place as his throaty groans vibrated against my lips.

  “You feel amazing,” I breathed.

He just moaned again and ran his hands down my back.

I couldn’t take any more. My orgasm was building quickly, and the need to let go threatened to drive me insane, so I sat up. Angling my hips just right, I rode him faster, desperate for relief, and now my cock was rubbing against his belly and oh fuck, I was going to lose it.

Garrett stared at me, wide-eyed and lips apart as if he’d never witnessed—never mind experienced—anything like this before. Maybe he hadn’t. This level of oh God yeah was sure as hell new to me.

“Fuck, Garrett,” I murmured, riding him for all I was worth. “Oh yeah, I’m gonna come . . . I’m . . . fuck!” I shot cum onto his stomach and even his chest, and he gasped just before he grabbed my hips, pulled me all the way down onto him, and shuddered again. Neither of us was quiet, but we were hardly saying anything coherent—just moaning and slurring as we rode our orgasms out.

I sank against him, slinging my arms around him, and he held me close as we both trembled and panted, the headboard holding us upright.

When the spinning room had slowed a little, I rested my hands on his shoulders and lifted my head so I could see him. My heart beat like crazy, and it wasn’t from the exertion or the orgasm. It was the same feeling I’d had on the observation deck. That panicky exhilarated feeling like I was falling. Or like I already had.

You. I combed my fingers through his sweaty hair. All I want is you.

Garrett caressed my cheek, and his smile made my spine tingle. “Like I said before,” he slurred, “anytime you want to bottom? You know where to find me.”

I laughed, sounding about as drunk as I felt. “I’ll remember that. Definitely.”

I lifted myself off him, and we both staggered to our feet to get cleaned up. After he’d gotten rid of the condom and we’d both mopped up some of the cum I
’d gotten on both of us, I started back toward the bed. I only made it a couple of steps, though, before Garrett caught me with an arm around my waist. I turned, thinking he was going to say something. Instead, he gathered me in a warm embrace and kissed me so tenderly, I thought my legs were going to melt out from under me.

How do you make me feel things no one ever has before?

“In case I haven’t said it enough,” he whispered, “you’re amazing.”

I smiled against his lips. “You’re not so bad yourself, you know.”

Garrett laughed softly and kissed me again. I held on and let myself get lost in that flying-falling-what-the-hell-is-happening feeling, which was back in full force as we stood there, sharing a lazy kiss while our bodies were still hot and sweaty from everything we’d just done. I wasn’t turned on—not yet—but something in me was aroused. Something I’d never felt with anyone before.

As I drew back and met his gaze, my heart pounded.

  Oh yeah.

I am definitely in love with you.

  Chapter 30

  Garrett

Compared to yesterday, the second morning at my sister’s was amazing.

Since Fiona left early to go to work, we’d said our goodbyes over coffee, and then Jesse and I had the house to ourselves. The drive back to Bluewater Bay would only take us about three hours, and since neither of us had to be anywhere tonight, we weren’t in a tremendous hurry to get on the road. We lounged in bed, enjoying the laziest, most languid morning sex the world had ever seen.

After we’d finally gotten up and showered, we both pulled on a pair of jeans, but we didn’t bother with anything else. If the looks he kept shooting me were any indication, there would definitely be one more round after we’d had coffee and before we hit the road. No point in getting completely dressed, was there?

And besides, I thought with a grin as I followed him into the kitchen, what was the point of leaving all those bites and bruises and scratches if we weren’t going to admire them? Because holy shit, we must’ve been rougher than I’d realized yesterday.

In the kitchen, Fiona had already done the dishes from the coffee we’d had earlier, so Jesse opened the cabinet to get two more mugs. He huffed as he perused the selection. “Your sister’s coffee cups are boring.”

“They hold coffee.” I reached past him and took down two black mugs. “That’s the only purpose they need to serve.”

“Pfft.” He closed the cabinet. “I demand entertainment and caffeine from my coffee cups.”

“Of course you do.” I poured us each a cup. Then we leaned against the counter and sipped in companionable silence.

“So,” Jesse said after a while. “What’s the plan for today?”

I shrugged. “Anything, really. As long as we’re on the road by four or five, we’re good. Especially since it’s a weekend and the Mariners aren’t playing at home, so the traffic shouldn’t be too bad.”

“Okay.” He sipped his coffee and set the cup on the counter. Then he wrapped his arms around me. “Last night was amazing, by the way.”

“I know.” I flashed him a grin. “I was there.”

He laughed, rolling his eyes, and lifted himself up for a soft kiss. “And thanks for dinner. I’ve never eaten there before.”

“It’s a lot better than it used to be.” I put my coffee aside and smoothed his disheveled blond hair. “I know a few other places we can try next time we’re in town.”

“Me too.” He lifted his eyebrows and offered the sweetest little smile. “So does that mean there’s going to be a next time?”

“Of course. Maybe under, you know, happier circumstances.”

The smile faltered a little but then came back to life as he touched my face. “Anytime we’re in town and you want to go see him, we can.”

  Oh. My heart. This man.

  “Really?”

  “Of course.” He shrugged.

I wrapped my arms around him. “You really are amazing.” I paused. “Sorry. You’re fucking awesome.”

He chuckled as he hugged me back. He took a breath like he was about to speak, but right then, Fiona’s doorbell rang.

“What the hell?” Jesse drew back, glaring in that direction as he released me. “Seriously? Right when I was getting all kinds of adorable?”

“You’re always all kinds of adorable.” I kissed his forehead. “It’s probably just a delivery. Fiona’s got an itchy trigger finger when it comes to Amazon’s one-click function.”

“I can relate.” Jesse gave me a wolfish grin. “You gonna show off all those bite marks to the poor guy?”

I glanced down at the many nips and bites visible on my bare torso. Part of me wanted to grab a shirt and cover it up, but to hell with it. I was feeling too damn good today, all things considered, and decided the UPS guy could cope with a shirtless, well-nibbled man signing for Fiona’s packages.

When I pulled open the door, my breath caught. I’d been expecting the UPS driver or . . . well, pretty much anyone.

  Anyone except Sean’s older sister.

Courtney glared at me across the welcome mat, arms folded tightly across her blouse. Her eyes did a slow down-up, and her lips bleached as her glare slid over the bite marks that were suddenly way too conspicuous.

Feeling exposed and without a shirt in sight, I shifted uncomfortably. “Courtney. I—”

“We need to talk.” She brushed past me into the living room—and halted. The whole city probably felt the moment her eyes locked on Jesse. He’d appeared in the doorway between the kitchen and living room, low-slung jeans hugging his hips and, like me, no shirt.

Uneasy, I shut the door behind me, the click startling all three of us like a gun had gone off. “I, uh . . .” They both stared at me, and my heart thumped against my ribs. “Courtney, this is Jesse. Jesse, Courtney.”

Jesse took a cautious step forward, brushing his hair out of his face as he extended his other hand. “Hi.” He didn’t sound nearly as confident as he usually did.

She eyed his hand warily but didn’t accept it. After a couple of tense seconds, he withdrew it and retreated a step. Slowly, she turned to me.

The last three years had aged her. Hell, they’d aged all of us. Neither of us had really started to gray until Sean’s diagnosis. A not-insignificant amount of my hair had turned white, and her blonde hair was mostly gray. We both had more lines—worry and grief permanently etched into our skin, especially at our eyes and mouths.

She did look better than she had a year ago, though. She’d been dangerously gaunt at the funeral, but she’d gained back some of the weight she’d lost. There was a little more light in her eyes. She stood straighter, almost as straight as she had when I’d met her.

So yeah, she was looking better, but that didn’t explain why she was here.

“Um.” I swallowed. “What’s this about?”

Courtney set her jaw and lifted her chin, glaring at me. “Mark said he saw you at the cemetery yesterday.” She glanced at Jesse. “With a man.”

I opened my mouth to speak, but she jabbed a finger at my chest.

“Is it true? Did you really—” She cut her eyes toward Jesse again and gave him a slow, disgusted down-up. Lips curled, she faced me again. “Don’t even try to bullshit me, Garrett.” Her voice wavered and her eyes flashed with pain and anger. “Did you bring your new boyfriend”—she spat the word like it was poison—“to the cemetery?”

There was no point in trying to dodge the question, and I hadn’t intended to anyway. Mark had seen us. Besides, I wasn’t ashamed of Jesse.

“Yes, it’s true.” I kept my voice as level as I could. “I’ve started seeing someone.” I nodded toward Jesse. “And yes, he was with me yesterday.”

Her eyebrows climbed her forehead and her arms tightened across her chest. Eyes flicking toward the kitchen, she growled, “You’ve been seeing someone long enough to take him to my brother’s grave?”

I clenched my teeth. “I’ve been seeing him long
enough to accept his support when I’m visiting my husband’s grave, if that’s all right with you.”

“Uh-huh.” Her nostrils flared as she growled, “Is he the reason you didn’t have the decency to visit our family while you were in town? You couldn’t come see us and see how my mother is doing after losing her son?”

I winced and broke eye contact. I’d hemmed and hawed about seeing the family when we came to town, and yes, I’d been afraid of visiting them with Jesse. But Jesse would have understood if I’d needed some time to go visit them alone. Truth was, I’d been brittle enough over the prospect of going to the cemetery. I didn’t think I could cope with seeing my in-laws. There’d been enough bad blood before Sean had gotten sick, and I hadn’t wanted to see if they’d still be as charitable toward me as they had in his last days.

If that made me a coward, then so be it.

“Courtney,” I said as calmly as I could. “I’m not trying to be disrespectful to your family or to Sean.”

“So you couldn’t even wait a year before you had to start fucking someone else? What is wrong with you, Garrett?”

I gritted my teeth. “I met someone, and I clicked with him. Yes, it happened sooner than I thought it would, but your brother even told me he didn’t want me to wait if—”

“Of course Sean told you that!” She swiped at the tears that were starting to stream down her red cheeks. “He didn’t want to be an asshole. He didn’t actually think you’d go running out and dive into another man’s bed before he was lukewarm in his grave. And I mean . . . look at him.” She gestured sharply at Jesse, who jumped.

Eyes wide in shock and horror, he glanced back and forth between us.

I nodded toward the kitchen, and he happily took the suggestion and left the room. Facing my sister-in-law again, I said, “What about him?”

She blinked. “Really? You don’t see it?”

“See what?” I snapped, my patience fraying rapidly.

She rolled her eyes. “Mark said he reminded him of Sean. And yeah, I can see it.”
