Unspoken Promises (The Unspoken Love Series Book 2)

I step between her legs, spreading them apart for me. My hands grip her ass, sliding her closer to the edge of the bar balancing her there. My dick strains against her. The tips of my fingers slide up her bare thighs causing goosebumps to form.
She wraps her arms around my neck and tightens her fingers in my hair to draw me closer. Her chest arches toward me. I take her perky nipple between my lips and suck.
“Oh… Linc. Don’t stop.”
“Fuck.” I pull away and take her other nipple between my teeth. I need to taste her. Taste every part of her.
“Tell me what you want,” I say, breathless.
I watch her eyes flare with arousal. She flushes a pretty shade of pink.
“Lincoln,” she breathes heavy. Her head falls back and her eyes flutter when I push a finger inside of her, then another. She moans and digs her fingers into my back. She grinds her hips against my fingers.
I need to be inside her. I press kisses down her neck and across her collarbone.
“Tell me.”
Her brown eyes widen at my request. When I pull my fingers out of her she gasps.
“Linc, I need you inside me. I need more. I need your dick,” she pants.
Her legs automatically open for me. Her gaze zeroes in on my throbbing dick that stands at attention.
I take hold of her thighs, part them and thrust inside of her. “Oh, God,” she groans. Her fingers tighten in my hair.
All I can feel is her tight pussy around me. I lean back from her and push her thighs farther apart, so I can watch as my cock moves in and out of her body.
She grabs my face pulling me in for a kiss. Her kiss was forceful. She kissed me like I was the air she needed to breathe. Her kisses are filled with pure ecstasy.
“Morgan,” I groan, breaking our kiss to press my face against her neck. I kiss her between each word. I plant kisses on her neck and shoulders. “Morgan. Always and Forever.”
Her eyes close, her cheeks flush and she cries out. Her back arches pushing her beautiful tits out. I cup her soft globe in my other hand and wrap my mouth around her nipple and suck. I nip the tip of it.
“Oh, God!” Morgan cries out, her hips pushing against my cock.
Morgan shifts her hips, the head of my dick hits her g-spot. She cries out, digging her nails into my back.
“Christ, Morgan.”
I rock hard against her hips. Every thrust hard and fast. I drive harder into her. She’s so wet. She needs to come because I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be able to hold off.
I slam into her, deep long strokes. I thrust my hips hard. “Come for me, Morgan.” I demand. I slip my hand between our bodies and press my thumb against her swollen clit and she moans.
“Yes.”
I circle her clit while my cock moves inside her forcefully. Her inner muscles clamp down around me as a climax tears through her. Her muscles clench around me tightly. My hips tense against her when I find my release. “Fuck,” I growl, my hips jerking against Morgan’s body. I come hard, my orgasm rockets through me, making me weak in the knees.
She rests her forehead against my shoulder, trying to catch her breath. My muscles are languid. I don’t know how I’m still upright. We stand like this for a few moments without saying anything.
“Morgan,” I murmur against her hair by her ear. “What are you thinking, baby?”
She slowly pulls her head back from my shoulder to look at me.
“I want to come home. Please take me back,” her voice breaks.
I sigh and squeeze her hips as I slowly pull out of her. “Let’s get dressed and go back to my place so we can talk.”
My mind is screaming one thing.
I’d rather marry her than lose her.
MORGAN
“Life is a journey and only you hold the key.”

Lincoln holds me against his chest in bed. His thumb brushes my lower lip. I naturally lean into him like I have since we were teenagers. He took me on top of the bar at Aces and again when we got home.
I say, my voice barely a whisper. “I’m sorry I didn’t fight for you. For us.”
Lincoln pulls me tightly against his chest, my head rests against his shoulder. A few hot tears run down my face. I cry for what could have been. I could have had the world with this man, but my stubborn ways pushed him away. Why couldn’t we have come to a compromise? Life isn’t easy. Relationships are far from easy. They’re like a garden. They need love every day as a garden needs sun and water to thrive. Audrey Hepburn once said, “to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” I believe in a tomorrow. I believe in a tomorrow with Lincoln by my side.
“I know you are. I’m sorry, too.”
“Where did things go so wrong with us?” I whisper against his chest, while he continues holding me.
“We stopped talking. I knew you wanted a ring, but I was hoping if I ignored it, you would drop it. I should have recognized your feelings with Camryn getting married.”
“You knew I wanted to get married. Yet, I knew your feelings on it, as well. I shouldn’t have expected you to change your feelings just to make me happy. Relationships are about compromise, but how do two people compromise on something that we both feel so strongly about?”
“Everything in life is a struggle. We need to decide if our relationship is worth fighting for,” his voice rough and filled with emotions.
I’d rather not marry him, than lose him.
“Remember what I said, Morgan. I’ll love you always and forever.”
“I love you, too. All I want is for us to give this another try. For you to forgive me on how I handled everything. You’re all I know. I don’t want to be without you. All I want is to feel alive again. You make me feel alive. I lost a piece of me when I left you.”
I look up and see unshed tears in his eyes.
“You’re all I want, Morgan. All I ever wanted. I choose you. I’ll choose you every day. I look at you and see the rest of my life in front of my eyes.”
Lincoln loves me unconditionally. He’d move mountains for me. Is this what an epiphany is? I finally realize that I don’t need Lincoln to marry me to prove his love. Him opening his arms to me after the way I treated him, after leaving him. Being in his arms is all the proof I need. I’m right where I’m meant to be. Tonight there are no shadows across my heart.
The next night, I meet Lincoln on my way home from the club. The bar is closed, Lincoln just finished tallying the money drop for the night. Music plays in the background. Aces is dark except for the high-hat lighting behind the bar.
“Do you want to be swept away?” Lincoln asks as he moves, reaching up to trap me between himself and the pool table.
My body jolts to his nearness, every muscle yearns for him to touch me. How can he make my body react this way still after all these years?
Lincoln’s eyes search mine, his face completely focusing on me, as he waits for my response. We stare at each other in silence for a few seconds and I see the heat start to darken the blue of his gaze.
“I do,” I admit without hesitation, my eyes landing on his lips. I can’t forget the way his mouth feels against mine.
“What are…” Before I can get the words out, Lincoln is lifting me up and planting my butt on the pool table. His hands slide up my thighs and he comes to stand between my legs.
His hands slide beneath my skirt, coming to rest on my hips.
I suck in a breath when his hands make their way up my sides, his thumbs brushing against my lace bra. A dull ache forms between my thighs, causing me to tighten them against Lincoln’s legs, since he is standing between them.
“We can’t do this here,” I say, barely above a whisper.
“Oh, we can and we will. You do realize who owns this place, right? I plan on making you scream my name so there is no doubt who makes you feel this good.”
My thighs quiver from his sensual touch. His fingers brush lightly against my thighs causing goosebumps to c
over my entire body. He pushes my thong to the side and brushes his thumb against my swollen bub. His fingers find my wet center. Lincoln fondles me. He plays my body like an instrument that was solely crafted for him.
It doesn’t take Lincoln long to make my body soar with the effects from my orgasm and I come on the very fingers that brought me to climax.
“For the love of all that is holy, you make me forget my own name and I can’t live without you again,” I say trying to catch my breath.
“And I won’t let you live without me…ever.”
LINCOLN
“There are two types of pain, one that hurts you, and the other changes you.”

The house looks exactly like I remember. A fairly strong wind blows against my face, picking up the golden orange leaves from the ground. Autumn colored leaves cover the small, fenced front yard. The small front porch has two chairs and a small table between the windows. The front of the house looks like it has a fresh coat of paint on it, and he has since put shutters on. He must have gotten a new car since the last time I saw him. I haven’t been here in years. Once I was old enough and could make the decision if I wanted to spend the weekend here or not, I chose not to. Not like he cared. I was a hassle to him. A distraction to the new life that he was building.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is to let go of the demons of the past. For years, I’ve been fighting those demons and its awakened my own. In order for me to move forward, I need answers.
With heavy feet, I take each step slowly. It’s as if there are weights tied to the bottom of my soles. Slowly, I lift my hand to knock on the door. I shove my hands in my pockets while I wait.
After a few moments, the door opens slowly.
“Lincoln, what a surprise. What brings you here?” my father asks, his eyes widen with concern.
“Do you have a few minutes? Can we talk?”
He moves to the side and opens the door for me to go in.
He gestures me toward the kitchen. “Take a seat. Do you want coffee, or something to drink?”
“A cup of coffee will be fine, thanks.”
The kitchen is quiet, all but the noise my father makes while preparing the coffee… the clang of the cups on the counter, or the coffee percolating in the machine.
“Cream and sugar, son?”
“Yes, please,” I say not even recognizing my voice. Why does he do this to me? Why do I feel like I can’t even have a normal conversation with the man?
He sets the steaming cup of coffee in front of me. I wrap my hands around the mug and lift the cup to my lips and take a sip.
“So, what brings you all the way from the city, son?” he asks.
I lean back in the chair and stretch my legs out under the table.
“Why did you marry Mom?”
His eyes widen at my question.
“I loved your mother. Hell, I still do. I married her because I wanted to spend my life with her. I wanted to build a family with her. But somewhere along the way, I did the unthinkable. I cheated and I broke your mother’s trust.”
I lean forward in the chair and grip my hands tightly around the mug.
“I don’t want to get married. I don’t ever want to be in the position that I can hurt Morgan the way you hurt Mom.”
“Do you love Morgan, son?”
“Of course. Without a doubt,” I answer without any hesitation.
“Then what’s to think about?”
“How can you say that. Did you really love Mom?”
“Yes, of course. Your mother was amazing. But I was young, did some really shitty things, and I messed everything up. I made a lot of mistakes in my life. With you, with your mother. But the biggest one I made was cheating on your mom. I finally realized what a dumbass I was, and how I ruined everything. I decided to fight for her but she wouldn’t take me back.”
“Do you blame her? You broke her heart when you left. I remember as a kid hearing her cry in her room at night. She thought because she cried behind her door that I couldn’t hear her. But I could. I heard her cry herself to sleep, night after night. You broke her. She never let anyone close to her again because of you. She refused to trust anyone because of what you did to her. Even after all these years, Mom says she would rather be by herself than give her heart to someone again for fear of them breaking what’s left of it… the little bit that remains that you didn’t break.”
“Your mom was right for not taking me back. Don’t think I didn’t beg her to. I pleaded with her to believe that I would never cheat on her again. That I wouldn’t ever stray again if she gave me another chance. I swore I’d never drink again either.”
I lean forward, looking at him intently. “Why would she take you back?”
He lifted the cup to this lips, taking a sip and placed it back on the table. “I ruined everything. I know I was a shitty husband, and a shittier father. I wasn’t there all the time when she needed me or when you needed me. I failed your mother as a husband, and I failed you as a father. But if there is one thing I can do for you now, I hope you can learn from my mistakes. Don’t ruin the one thing you want most. Don’t let Morgan get away. You fight for her. You make sure she knows you love her every day. Marriage is more than a piece of paper, Lincoln. Marriage is so much more.”
“Funny, that’s exactly what I tell Morgan marriage is. It’s only a piece of fucking paper. That it doesn’t prove my love to her. I don’t want to risk everything we have just to legally say we are together.”
“You were sixteen when you started dating Morgan. You spent almost your entire teenage years with her. Let me ask you something. Have you ever cheated on Morgan?”
“Never.” I answer without a hint of uncertainty. “I would never do that to her. I respect her too much.”
“Then you should know what you should do, son. Don’t allow the mistakes I made as a husband deter you from marrying the woman who has your heart. My mistakes don’t define you. Don’t let the love of your life slip through your fingers. Trust me, you’ll regret it.”
I push the chair back from the table and stand up. My father rises, pulling me in for a hug. He slaps me on the back twice.
When we part, he pats my face with his hands, “Don’t be stupid, son. Marriage is sharing life with your best friend. Enjoying each other along the journey. Making sure the two of you arrive at the end point together. Don’t lose Morgan because of my mistakes, Lincoln. Please. You’ll never forgive yourself if you do.”
I walk to the door, then turn and look at my father intently. “When did you get so wise?”
“I’ve had a lot of time on my hands over the years,” his voice no longer energetic, rather it holds sadness in it.
I nod my head. “Thanks for the talk.”
“You’re welcome, now go get your future bride.”
“Keep your eyes closed.” I tell her. My leg bounces against the door. My nerves are getting the best of me.
“How can I open my eyes? You have a blindfold over them.” She takes a deep breath and settles into the seat. Her fingers tense in her lap.
“No peeking. I know you, Morgan Kennedy.” My left hand clenches the steering wheel, while my right hand rests on Morgan’s leg.
“Where are you taking me?” she asks for the fifth time since I put her in the black Audi SUV I purchased yesterday.
“Sit tight babe, we’re almost there.” I say with a grin on my face.
Morgan wiggles in the seat next to me. My girl is an inpatient little thing.
“You know I hate surprises,” she whines.
“Liar, you love surprises.” I respond and laugh at her.
I pull up at the curb. “Don’t take the blindfold off. So help me God, Morgan.”
She lifts her hands in the air to surrender. “I won’t,” she huffs.
I get out of the car and run around the front. I open the door and help Morgan out. I lean in and open the glove box and grab what I’m looking for.
“What di
d you just do,” she asks.
“Nothing.”
“Who’s lying now?” she says sarcastically.
I lean in and kiss her on the lips. “Relax. Trust me.” I lead her up the walkway slowly, making sure she doesn’t trip. I slip the key in the door and pray that Camryn did exactly like I asked her to.
I open the door and lead her inside. I kneel before her with a black velvet box in my hand. “Take your blindfold off, baby.”
Morgan reaches behind her head, untying the blindfold. When she pulls it away from her face, she gasps, “Lincoln.”
Inside sits a classically elegant engagement ring with a cushion modified brilliant diamond encircled by a double row of bead-set diamonds paired with the one-and-a-half-carat wedding band that I’ll give her on our wedding day.
With my eyes locked on Morgan’s, I’m not sure my heart has ever pounded so fast in my life. “Our relationship has faith, tears, it has hurt. It has arguments, patience, and communication… well, now it does.” Morgan laughs and tears spill down her face.
“But most importantly our relationship has trust, hope, and love. It has love, always and forever. I realize that a life without you in it isn’t a life worth living. Baby, I promise you this. If you give me the chance to love you again, I will never disappoint you. I will stand by your side and love you till I take my last breath. I promise to do my best to ensure that you are always happy, always loved. I promise to make you always know how cherished and loved you are.”
Once her first tear broke free, the rest followed in an unbroken stream.
“Will you marry me, Morgan Kennedy?”
Morgan leans forward, pressing her palms to my face. Morgan breaks out into a huge grin. “Yes! Yes, I will marry you.”
I stand up and pull her body against mine to kiss her. “Nothing will ruin us. I will never let anything get in the way of us again. You’re a part of me, a part of my soul.”
“Falling in love with you was easy. Loving you was easy. Being in love with you is easy,” Morgan says in between sobs.
