“Fuck me harder, Ayden.” Hearing those dirty words fall from her innocent mouth causes me to lose control. Softly falling to the ground, I flip her on all fours and take her from behind.

“Ayden, yes, oh god.” Raising my hand in the air I bring it down and slap her glorious ass. Spanking her again, she rubs herself on me.

  “Do you like that?”

  “Yes. I need more.”

Gripping her hair in my hands I pull it while leaving another red mark on her smooth skin. A satisfied moan leaves her luscious lips. This intense moment between us is more than anything physical. It’s an unbreakable bond. We lost so many years, but we’ve found each other again. The explosive chemistry between us is nothing like I’ve ever had. No one compares to my beautiful girl.

Laying her on her back, our lips meet again. I’m about to lose it.

“You feel so good,” I moan, thrusting harder into her. “So fucking good.”

“I’m coming,” she screams and soon we find our release.

I’m about to take her mouth again when Grayson’s cries fill my room. Camila laughs and kisses me before getting up and putting on her clothes. I lay on the floor and watch her dress.

“Looks like our little man needs us.”

  “Seems so.”

Waking up the next morning with my two sleeping beauties, I get up and shower to prepare for the day. Not wanting to wake either of them up, I kiss them both gently on their foreheads quietly leave the room. Grabbing my coffee and briefcase, I head out the door and to the office.

I smile when I take out my phone and send her a text message.

Me: You looked so beautiful and peaceful this morning. I didn’t want to leave, but I promise I’ll be back. I miss you already.

Camila: I miss you more. Have a good day at work, my love.

“You seem to be in a good mood today, Sir.”

I laugh and nod, sending Cam another message.

Me: I won’t. I’ll be thinking about your sweet pussy all day

Camila: We can play when you come home. Maybe a little slutty nurse and sexy doctor ;)

Me: Or I could fuck you senseless and hear you scream. I like that game better

Camila: You were always better than me

“I take it you and Camila are working things out?”

“You can say that, Thomas. Things are good.”

“I’m glad sir. This is a big step for you.”

Remembering last night and watching her sleep is more than I should want. It’s a big step, but it’s a step I don’t regret. I’m not questioning her or wishing she leave.

Making my way to the office, I find a bottle of cognac on my desk with a note.

  To forever.

  xoxo

Smiling, I set it aside and tell myself to send her flowers soon.

I’m in meetings all morning and I don’t have time to talk to Camila. I wonder what she’s doing and how Grayson’s behaving. The poor guy is teething, and it’s hard for him to sleep and stay happy.

I don’t have a minute free. Anything that can go bad does and I’m being pulled in every direction.

When I look at the time again, it’s nearly seven in the evening, and I’m still staring at a report that I haven’t been able to figure out all day.

I reach for my phone to text Cam that I’ll be late when the door to my office opens and she’s standing in front of me with Grayson and a picnic basket.

“Natalie said you’re still in the office and have been busy all day, so we thought it would be nice to surprise Daddy and make sure he eats.”

Getting up from my office chair, I give each of them a kiss, and we take a seat at the table in my office.

Reaching over to grab my bottle of cognac, I smile at her. “Thank you for the bottle, by the way.”

  “What?”

“You sent this to me,” I smile and show her the note.

“Ayden I didn’t send you anything.”

Looking at the note and bottle, I realize the brand isn’t the one I usually drink. The cap twists off too easily; the seal was broken. I grab Grayson and Camila, leaving my office.

Phoning security and Thomas, I frantically take Cam and Grayson in my arms and pray this isn’t what I was afraid would happen.

The cops and my security review the logs and office. They find a small camera in my bookshelf, but nothing showing who could be following me. No one is sure how long the bug has been in there, and I’m afraid to know. Demanding a full sweep of the office and my home, I instruct Thomas to bring us to the Crowne Plaza for the rest of the week. I add in more security and have Thomas bring in more men.

“You need to be careful, and you are not to be alone.”

Camila nods and holds Grayson to her chest. Her phone rings, and she reaches into her purse to get it. Seeing it’s a text from someone named Eric, I rest my chin on her head and read the message.

Eric: Hey I just passed by your husband’s company. Is everything okay?

Camila: Yeah, it’s fine. Just a small emergency. Everything’ great though, thanks for asking.

Eric: No problem. I hope you have a good night.

  Camila: You too.

  “Who’s Eric?”

“Oh, I thought I told you. He’s the guy I met at Next Door Bar and Grill. His wife passed away, and I’ve been helping him with her business. He’s a really smart guy, and I think you’d like him.”

“Interesting how he was driving by the office though.”

She shrugs. “Yeah, you’re right. He’s been acting weird lately. He yelled at me one time because of how we’re raising Grayson. I don’t know; it’s weird. I thought we had a pretty good business relationship, but I think he sees it as something more.”

  “What’s his last name?”

  “Captein.”

My eyes go wide as the name sinks in.

“Mr. Sharp, I’m begging you please let me meet him.”

I look at her and shake my head. Who the hell does this woman think she is, and why does she feel the need to meet my son?

“We had an agreement, Daria. You signed the contract. There’s no reason for you to want to see him. Why are you here?”

“I’m dying!” she cries. “I’ve been diagnosed with cancer, and I don’t have a lot of time. I carried him in my belly and felt him grow. Eric and I deserve to meet him. Why can’t you give me this one last thing?”

“Because a deal is a deal. Now, I’m sorry you’re sick and I wish you well, but there’s no reason for you to meet him. You knew what you were getting yourself into. Now, please, Ms. Captein, I don’t want to get security in here and have you escorted out.”

She sobs and screams at me. “You’re a monster! I’m dying and need to see him. I love him!”

Rising from my chair, I point at her. “You had one job. I paid you and took care of you while you carried my son. He is mine, and you have no right to come barging into my office to meet him. You need to leave and not come back. We had a deal.”

“And you can change the deal! It’s your contract. Please let me meet him!”

  “No. Please leave.”

  “Ayden what’s wrong?”

“You can’t see or talk to him again.” His voice is shaky and his eyes are wide. “Eric is Daria’s husband, and Daria was the surrogate.”

SITTING ON THE COUCH with a glass of wine in my hands, I let the information sink in. Eric knew me and Ayden, and he used me for whatever reason. It all makes sense why he freaked out on me and demanded to know more about Grayson.

I understand his need to want to see my son. It hurts me to know that Ayden kept Grayson from their sight. I know he’s protecting us and he wants the best¸ but the woman was dying.

Closing my eyes I bring the rim of the glass to my lips and drink my wine. I need to make this right, and I don’t know how.

Without saying a word, Ayden kneels in front of me and cups my face. He brings my face to his and gives me the longest, sweetest
kiss. When he pulls away, I have a smile on my face.

  “I’m sorry for everything.”

“I know you are, and I know you’re doing everything you can to make us safe. I don’t think Eric’s going to do anything. Nobody here will turn his backs on you, and I think it’s safe to say Eric isn’t a threat.”

“I can’t take that chance. With the bug in my office and the bottle, I don’t want to take any chances. It’s too risky, and your life matters. I don’t want anything to happen to you or Grayson.

“I know. Why don’t you get some sleep?” He kisses me again and leaves the room. I’m alone with my thoughts and it’s killing me to not want answers from Eric.

The next morning Ayden goes into the office to make sure nothing else is wrong. He received an email stating that they found more bugs and he’s frantic.

Grayson falls back to sleep after eating. There’s a knock at the hotel door and the hush of voices. When I turn around, Natalie’s at the bedroom door.

“Knock, knock.” My body straightens, and I force myself to smile.

She and I haven’t talked too much, and I think she knows why. I hate holding this from her, and I want to tell her I’m not mad. Putting down my phone, I pull the covers up and watch as she sits on the edge of my bed handing me a cup of coffee from Starbucks.

“Ayden said you might want this.” I smile and take a drink of the coffee, setting it on the nightstand. “Talk to me, Cam. We used to be such good friends and now I feel like I don’t know you anymore since the day you found the car.” Her voice gets softer, “I know you know, and I’m sorry.”

My eyes close thinking about how I figured it all out. Looking back at the report and talking to the cop working the case, I put the pieces together. There was no way Ayden could have done it because he was attending a charity banquet, and he was in the paper making a speech when my parents died. The cop and witnesses say a teenager girl was driving, and the description matched Natalie. I’ve kept this inside for a while, and I don’t want it to get out.

I understand why Ayden is protecting her, and I’ve let go of all my anger. I don’t want to be mad for the rest of my life. Things happened and although I wish my parents were still here, I know they’re in a better place.

“I do know, and it’s okay,” I reach out and take her hand. “We don’t have to talk about it or anything. I want you to know that it’s hard for me to talk to you, but give me time. It’s a lot to take in, and I know you didn’t know what to do.”

“How can you not hate me?” she cries, covering her face and shaking her head. “I didn’t mean to be driving so fast. I didn’t even know what I did until I saw the crash. I knew I should have stopped, but I was scared. Ayden told me he would take care of everything, and he did. I hate that you thought it was his fault when it was mine.”

“Ayden thinks I still think that, but we’re in a good spot now, and I don’t want to tell him I know the truth. We’ve been living together for the past few weeks, and I don’t want to ruin it.” Before Natalie can respond, my phone rings; it’s Eric. “Excuse me.”

Picking up the call curious to see what Eric needs. “Well, I don’t think it’s a good time to meet, Eric. I hope you understand.”

“Why don’t you bring Grayson to the park next week? I can bring my dog, and we can hang out.”

Ayden wouldn’t want me near this man. An odd feeling surges, and I need to hang up.

“I don’t know if I can. Like I said, my schedule is a little bit all over the place, and I haven’t been to the office.”

“I don’t get how you’re working again. I thought you wanted to be with Grayson and spend time with him. Do you think you’re giving him justice when you’re busy? You said it yourself: you hate the months you lost with him. You need to think about his needs before Ayden’s.”

Getting up from the bed, I take the conversation to a different room. “What the hell are you smoking right now? What right do you have to say anything? I know what I’m doing, and I know my son.”

“No, you don’t! You’ve had him for few months. You have no idea what you’re doing. You’re everywhere, and you aren’t putting him first. How do you call yourself a mother?”

“This is escalating quickly. I have no idea where this is coming from, but please don’t call me anymore. We’re done, and I’m done helping you.” Without listening to what he has to say I hang up the phone.

Within seconds, there’s a loud crash and screaming at the suite’s door. Rushing out to see what’s going on, Eric has a gun and he’s pointing it at Paul, our bodyguard.

“All I wanted was to see him again. Is that too much to ask for?”

“Eric,” I calmly say to him. “You need to put down the gun and walk away.”

“Cam, all I want is to see him.” I see the look of anguish on his face and nod. I know Ayden’s going to kill me for this. I look at Paul, and he immediately understands. His hands moves toward the cell in his pocket as Eric lowers his gun.

Eric follows me into the room where Grayson and Natalie are. I eye Natalie and she nods, taking in the gun Eric’s holding. I’m ready for anything that will happen and hope to God he won’t do anything stupid. To her credit, Natalie keeps her composure even as her arms tighten around Grayson.

He looks at Grayson and tears come rushing down his cheeks. “When we first felt him kick, I knew at that moment I wanted to have a family with Daria. She wanted to start her own business and pushed me away. I fought for her, and she took me back. I was there for her when she was pregnant. We agreed on trying for our own baby. Everything about Grayson is beautiful. We’d sing to him and tell him stories. He was active in her belly.”

The words sting. I hate that I wasn’t the one who carried him. I think about Patrick and how he looked. He was in his father’s arms when he took his final breath. My poor baby boy. I love him and miss him every day. I know he’s in heaven, and I know he’s watching over me and his brother.

"Daria and I were going to have a baby of our own, and then she was diagnosed with cancer. I lost Grayson and I was losing my wife. It wasn't fair. I miss her every day."

"I'm sorry for your loss," I reach out and touch his arm, "but you have to understand this is what's best for Grayson."

  "I know."

"Did you try to hurt Ayden?"

Eric nods. "I lost everything and he had everything. I've been keeping tabs on him. I wanted him dead, but you changed it. I regret sending him the bottle, and I'm glad he didn't open it." A sigh escapes his lips, "I was desperate."

Stepping back, Eric looks at Grayson then back at me. “This is all I wanted.” He darts out of the room, and I let out the breath I’ve been holding in.

Paul and Ayden rush into the room and look around. Ayden’s eyes go to mine and then to Grayson.

Collapsing onto the bed, I take Grayson from Natalie and hold him against my chest feeling his little heart beating. He babbles and stirs from his slumber, snuggling against me and wrapping his little arms around my neck.

“Mama,” he mumbles. I’ll never be tired of that word.

Ayden sits down on places his hand on my knee. “Are you okay?” I nod. “I’m beyond pissed off, and we’ll talk later. I’m glad you’re okay.” He touches my cheek. Leaning into him, I rest my head on his shoulder.

  “Everything’s going to be fine.”

We return to the house a few days later, and Eric’s gone without a trace. He got what he wanted, and I have a feeling we won’t be seeing him again.

The events of that day are still on my mind. I don’t know what possessed me to allow him to come into the room and look at Grayson. Things could have turned in so many directions, but they didn’t.

Holding a hot mug in my hands, I stare out the window, watching Ayden walk up the driveway and into the house. Grayson’s with Natalie and Taylor today, and I’m sure they’re spoiling him and will bring him back hyper.

The door opens and closes and Ayden strides into the living room.
He sits down beside me and gives me a kiss on the lips.

  “Are you okay?”

I nod. “Just thinking about the past few days.”

“Natalie told me about the conversation you had with her.” I don’t respond. “You know, most women wouldn’t put up with my bullshit.”

“I’m not like other women, Ayden. Hopefully you’ll be able to see that.” He doesn’t respond. “And plus, I’d rather have you in my life as a boyfriend or whatever we are than telling people you’re my baby daddy.”

He laughs and shakes his head. “I would be a pretty sexy baby daddy.”

“I was thinking more cute and cuddly.”

“Am I a fucking dog or something? Should I change my name to Coco?” A snicker of laughter leaves my lips. Ayden gives me a playful smile and takes my hand.

“I’m sorry,” I tell him, holding back the tears. I don’t know why I’m feeling emotional suddenly.

  “What are you sorry for?”

“For not believing in you or us. For letting Eric come close to our son, and for thinking you were a monster. I’m sorry for not wanting to take risks with you.”

  Sharp

HEARING HER APOLOGIZE when she has nothing to apologize for grips my heart. “You don’t have to say sorry. I didn’t make it easy on you. Don’t ever apologize to me. Do I make myself clear?”

“But I didn’t believe you.” The tension on her face grows, and she leans into me. Her quiet sobs wrack her body, and I hold her tightly telling her it’s okay. I don’t know why she’s the one apologizing when I’ve been nothing but a cold-hearted bastard. I understand her reasons, and it sucks. That’s the thing about life. There are always three paths to take and you have to choose the one that’s best for you.
