“I wish you had believed in us, but this isn’t your fault. I didn’t give you much of a choice. I’ll never let you down again. I’m going to take care of you and Grayson, and I’ll make up for everything. I promise.”

“I know, and I promise: no more running.”

The panic and weight on my chest releases, and I’m able to breathe once again. The need to protect her and our son comes first, nothing else matters. My family will always be my first priority.

“I love you, Camila. I’ve loved you since we were kids. I loved you when I thought you decided to stay in Atlanta. I loved you when you were married to Henry. I’ve loved you for so long. You changed my life. You gave me the strength I needed to survive. Without you I would be dead.” A tear slips free and rolls down her face. Wiping it away she smiles. “You have to give me a chance to prove to you how much I need you.”

“You don’t need to prove anything. I know how you feel, and I know what’s in your heart, Ayden. Part of me is still scared. You think I left you, and I didn’t. That’s always going to hang above us.”

She’s right. No matter how many times I tell her I love her and need her, the dark cloud of that night hangs. We’ve lost so much, and I’ve destroyed her in many ways. She shouldn’t expect anything.

  But she believes in us.

“Grayson brought you back to me. He’s part of us, and I will never let you forget that. The regrets I have from that night still linger. I want answers, just like you. It’s part of our fucked-up journey. We’ll figure it out.”

A big smile spreads over her beautiful face. “Okay.”

Picking her up, I walk upstairs to her bedroom. Thoughts of having her are gone. I need to hold her in my arms. Laying her down I place my hand on her belly and think about the possibility of another child in our future. She pushes herself against me and lets out a sigh of relief.

A few hours pass with my girl comfortable in my arms, and I pull out my phone to see Taylor’s text message about keeping Grayson overnight. An idea comes to my head and even though sex wasn’t planned a night without Grayson wasn’t either. Pulling away from her, I gently push her on her back and slide down her body, bringing down her shorts and panties. Looking at her bare pussy, I lick my lips and bring my mouth to her core. Sucking her clit, I push my fingers deep inside her.

“What?” she moans. “Oh, shit. Oh, shit, Ayden!”

My girl’s so wet, and she tastes so good. Her leg trembles as my mouth owns her. Unable to resist her, I continue my assault on her and rub her with my pinky. Her back arches and her fingers clutch the sheets. Kissing her body and up to her neck, I lean over her and see her wide eyes and dark lashes. Her flushed face looks damn sexy. My eyes soften into hers as I push apart her legs and slide in. She clings to me as my throbbing cock moves inside her. She screams with pleasure as I thrust faster and harder, bringing her body to the edge.

  “Camila, you feel so good.”

“Keep going,” she tells me, and I do as she wishes.

Inching back to her face, our lips meet. I sink deeper into her, tangling her tongue with mine. Rocking deeper inside her, the muscles around my cock tighten and I thrust a few more times before we both find our releases.

Having her body rest on mine is where she belongs.

“Is Grayson still with your sisters?”

  “Yes.”

“So we have a night to ourselves?”

  “Yes.”

A sinister smirk splays across her face, and I hope to god she’s thinking the same thing.

An eruption of heat envelopes my body as she reaches down and strokes my cock.

“Can you handle another game with my anaconda?”

  “Can you?”

Sitting up, she pushes my shoulder and I comply, easing down onto my back as my girl moves over me. I love seeing her on top and taking control. The way her breasts look and how she takes her fingers to her clit is fucking heaven.

Camila’s wild goddess comes out, and I love that she’s confident with her sexual side. Nothing’s more beautiful than a woman who knows what she wants and takes it.

I’ve never experienced this with anyone else, and I don’t want to. The explosion in my chest of our love completes me. She’s taking me, all of me, damage and all.

  “Is this okay?”

I moan, “Yeah, baby. Ride it. Fuck, you’re so good.”

She rests her hands on my chest and rides me hard and fast. Fuck. I’m doing everything I can to not come yet. Gripping her hips I close my eyes and feel her sliding up and down, fast and hard.

And it hits me. I haven’t seen her take her pill, and I refuse to wear a condom with her.

Opening my eyes, I see that hers are closed, one hand playing with her breasts, the other is playing with her clit.

My clouded mind is out of commission. All I can think about right now is how she feels.

“I love you, Ayden.” She moans, opening her eyes and looking at me. “I love you.”

Raw emotions hit me. I’ve heard these words before, and I love when they fall from her lips. This time it’s different. Nothing compares to this moment. Our love is strong enough to overcome the bumps and broken paths. She came back to me, and she’s showing me that this isn’t purely physical. This is real.

  Real.

“I love you, Camila. I love everything about you, and I love the man I am when we’re together. You are mine, and you will always be mine. We’re going to grow old together and sit on our porch watching our grandchildren play in the yard.” I sit up and hold her. We’re face to face, and our eyes are on one another. “Our hands are going to be entwined with one another’s, and you’ll look at me and say that we had the best life. When you take your final breath, I will too. We’ll walk into heaven together and share eternity. You’ll never know what it’s like to be without me.”

“Everywhere you go, I go. Everything you need, I will give it to you. You’ll never know what it’s like without me again.”

The pace between us is slow and rhythmic. Instead of fucking hard and fast like before, we’re making love and slowly learning each other again. There’s nothing between us except the raw love we share.

Lifting her up and laying her back on the bed, I take control again and slowly slide into her. Sliding deep inside, I feel her, all of her.

“Keep your eyes open, angel. Look at me while I make love to you.”

  “Yes. Yes, Ayden. Keep going.”

Wrapping her legs around me, she pushes me deeper into her. I never thought it would feel this good.

“More, Ayden. I need more.” Giving her what she needs, she arches her back and finds release; I soon follow.

I control everything in my life. I have expectations and need rules and boundaries. I expect people to listen to me and never defy me. But Cam pushes me like no other. She tests me and pulls me back. She doesn’t let me fall too far and when I feel unbalanced, she finds a way to bring me back. This unpredictable angel controls me like no one else. She’s the only know who knows me inside and out. I’m completely devoted to her. No one else measures up to my perfection. I wish I could always be the man she needs and deserves. My queen deserves everything beautiful and amazing in this world. I’m going to love her like she’s never been loved before. I’m going to make love to her every chance I get and always tell her how beautiful she is and how much I love her.

That’s the thing about true love. You will always find it when you least expect it. Who knew I would find my one true love at such an early age?

We’ve been through hell and back, and I don’t regret anything. The trials and tribulations of our journey is what makes us stronger. If you ask Cam, she would tell you she’d change that night.

  I wouldn’t.

Losing her taught me how to be a man and taught me how to become successful and persistent. Because of losing her, I’m able to run a multimillion-dollar company and provide for my family. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in this world.

DYLAN AND I have the kids today at the park while the women are at the spa. It’s been a while since Camila’s had a day to herself, and I wanted her to have a day without any worries.

Needing to take a call, Dylan watches the kids as I talk to Taylor about an upcoming meeting.

“Next week’s fine. Email me the information, and I’ll talk to you soon.”

Hanging up the phone, I turn around and see a woman watching me. She looks familiar, but I can’t figure out how I know her.

“Ayden?” she asks, walking to me. “Ayden Park?” The last name hits me.

“I’m sorry; do I know you?” I carefully look at her, and then it hits me. “Gloria?” We meet, and I give her a hug. It’s been years since I’ve seen her. “How are you?”

“Doing fine. Look at you all spiffy and handsome.” She touches my cheek, “Oh, my sweet boy, you’ve grown up.”

“I have,” I smile. “Come and sit down. I’d like you to meet my son, Grayson.”

“Oh,” she claps her hand, and we walk over to Dylan and the kids. “Oh, he’s precious, Ayden. He has your eyes and he looks like…” She pauses to look at me. “You and Camila?” I nod. Her face brightens into a wide grin. “I’m so glad that the two of you found each other.”

“It took a while. She’s at the spa now. We both live in Rochester now.”

“It’s been years since I’ve seen her. How is she?”

“Doing well. We’ve had a few rough months, but everything is working out fine.”

“I’m glad. When I found out her mother got in the way of your plans, I had to leave and find her. But oh, that woman knew what I was up to and shipped me out so fast. I never got a chance to say bye to Camila.”

Sudden rage rips through me. “What do you mean her mother got in the way?”

She looks at me with wide eyes. “Camila and her mother got into a fight the night she was supposed to meet you. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but when I found Mrs. Ellison in Camila’s room I knew she was up to no good. I confronted her and demanded Camila’s phone. Oh, that woman did not want to give it up. I know she did something to hurt Camila.”

Camila never lied. And I never believed her.

Now that I know, I have to make it right.

Dylan agreed to have Grayson tonight so I can have alone time with Camila. I check to make sure everything is all set. There are candles all over the living room and dinner’s waiting for us on the table. Soft music plays, and I can’t seem to calm myself down.

When the door opens, Camila approaches. “Ayden?”

Taking her hand in mine, I hit a few buttons on the remote and our song, I’m Yours by The Script, comes on. Spinning her around, she lets out a laugh. I want to hear that laugh for the rest of my life.

Face to face, chest to chest, I smile as she rests her head against my chest. “Thank you for today. It was so needed. But where’s Grayson?”

“At Dylan and Bev’s. We can pick him up tomorrow.”

When the song ends I tell her to close her eyes. Taking a breath I get down on one knee and pull out the box with a promise of forever.

“Open your eyes, Camila.” Once she does, her hands cover her mouth. “Camila, you are the light of my life. There’s no one who loves me, pushes me, supports me and cares about me like you. You’ve been there for me through hell and back, and you kept your faith in me. I know we haven’t had the best few months, but I promise you I will love you forever and there will never be a day that passes that you won’t know how much I love you. Spend the rest of your life with me? Marry me, Camila?”

“Oh, Ayden!” she cries. Her body trembles, and she closes her eyes. Giving me her left hand, I slip on the ring and hear her whisper the words I’ve been waiting to hear: “Yes, Ayden I’ll marry you. Forever. Always and forever.”

Taking her in my arms I carry her upstairs and take my time enjoying her.

LOOKING AT HER WHILE SHE SLEEPS, I take in a breath and remember our love. Today’s the day I tell her everything.

“Wake up, baby,” I whisper, pushing her hair from her face. “We need to talk.”

She yawns and slowly opens her eyes. “Morning, fiancé.”

“Morning,” I smile, kissing her lips. “I need to talk to you.”

I start telling her about Gloria and what happened in the park the other day. She starts to cry but holds my hand, showing me that she understands. Starting at the beginning, I tell her about my parents and what I remember of them to the day I found out about their accident. Talking about the orphanage before Deb and Winslow hurts. Remembering how they treated me and watching other children being adopted wasn’t fair. I told her more about Deb and Winslow and the fire that took my family away.

She holds my hand through the story, and I hope she’s still holding my hand when I tell her about what happened when I got to Rochester.

“So, he changed his name?” I nod. “Wow, okay.”

I tell her about the smuggling and fighting; how I’ve killed people because of orders. I hang my head and feel her hand cupping my cheek.

“It’s okay, Ayden. You had to find a way to survive.”

“You kept me alive. Every time I felt alone, I looked at your picture and everything made sense. You kept me alive, and I know I made you feel like you ruined my life. You’ll never know how sorry I am.”

“I do, Ayden. I know you’re sorry, and I know it was a bad situation. We never gave up, and that’s what we both have to remember. Everything is fine now. Thank you for letting me in. Thank you for giving me everything.”

“I love you, Camila. Even your sarcastic, jealous side,” I smirk. “From the little hairs on your head, to your perfectly polished toes, I love every piece of you.”

“No more lies?” I nod. “No more deception?

“Nothing. We’re starting fresh. A new life for you, Grayson, and me.”

  “Good. I like that.”

“I need to hear you say one thing.” She stills in anticipation. “Tell me that you belong with me and that my anaconda is the best.”

She smiles and rolls her eyes. “Everything in me is yours, and your anaconda is the best.”

Taking her in my arms, I roll her over and kiss every part of her face. This is where I want to be.

Sometime in the early afternoon, the doorbell rings and I know it’s a surprise she’s been waiting for. As soon as Camila opens the door, she shrieks. Peeking over, Gloria is holding Grayson and a bag. I’m thankful that we have her back and that she’s agreed to nanny for us.

  “You’re back!” Camila cries.

“I never left you, honey.” The two women hug, and it’s like my heart is beating again for the first time.

After a long week, it’s finally Friday and time to spend a weekend with my family. Being engaged to Camila is everything I want. As soon as I slipped the ring on her finger and let her in, she became a new person. She’s carefree and has a permanent smile on her face.

She’s planning the wedding with Bev and wants a small ceremony with our loved ones. Making her my wife has been a dream I’ve been waiting to become reality. She’s teaching me to embrace life and surround myself with acceptance. I’ll never fully be able to let go of the past, but, thanks to Camila, the voices and feelings of distress are gone.

  Five months later…

  Cam

STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM I look around and see Thomas approaching me. He smiles, kisses my cheek, and hands me a letter. I sit down and open the letter, smiling when I see the words.

  To my soon-to-be wife,

I never thought this day would come. You’re my angel, and I’ll forever be by your side. Thank you for being my best friend and mother to our child. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I know we’ve had ups and downs, but I promise you until the day I die, you’ll always have a smile on your face.

I love you with everything I am. You are my better half and the wo
man I look up to.

It’s you, me and Grayson forever, Camila. Just us. And maybe a few more babies.

Please hurry down the aisle so I can take you in my arms and make you mine forever.

  I love you,

  Ayden

Opening the silver package accompanying the letter, I smile when I see a bracelet with three charms etched with our initials, and I nearly break down in tears.

Today is the day I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been waiting to become Mrs. Ayden Sharp.

Inside the box, there’s another letter.

  Open the next box.

Bev comes in with Gretchen, and she hands me another box. Inside, there’s a heart charm and a note.

Now you have my heart with you forever.

“Does he really want to make me cry all day?” I laugh, wiping the tears. “Okay, can we please get this wedding started?”

Bev kisses me on the cheek. “You ready, babe?” I take a deep breath and smile in response. “Let’s go get you married.”

Natalie and Taylor come in and give me a hug. “You’re so beautiful, Cam!”

“Thank you,” I blush. I turn around and take one more look in the mirror. “I can do this.”

I turn around and see my family standing before me. This is what I want. I want today to be perfect and to be surrounded by our family and friends. Today is everything I want and more.

When I think about everything we’ve been through, I smile. Our lives will never be perfect, and our love will experience turmoil and lows, but our love is strong. Like the sea, we’ll part, and find our way back to one another. The ripples of our love will be harsh and fierce, but it’ll ebb and calm and we’ll remember our vows.

When the music begins, the girls take their positions and walk out leaving me with Thomas. Although Thomas and I are not super close, he’s like a father to Ayden. I’m thankful to have Thomas in our lives, and I know it’s partly because of him that Ayden is the man he is today.
