Even When It's Wrong

“What?” I grimaced.
“You heard right. She put her hands on me. So, she gotta go. Micko is on her way, right now. She was at my mama’s, so Mya can catch a ride with her out there.”
“Man,” I drawled, wanting to cuss Meeka’s dumb ass out, but I didn’t want to pimp my hand. “You tripping. And why you gotta be out here with the bullshit, putting everybody in your business?”
“Cause we waiting right here for Micko. She better be lucky that I let her go in there and get her shit. She been telling so many damn lies. She got a cell phone I aint know shit about. Some nigga done left passion marks all on her chest and neck. And after she done disrespected me, Ion want her back in my house. Anything else,” she sassed.
“What’s up? You ready?” a older version of Meeka switched over to us. She and Meeka were built exactly alike, had the same complexion, and hazel eyes.
“Yeah, she ready,” Meeka immediately spoke up. “Grab ya shit, Mya,” she instructed, as if she was talking to a stranger off the streets.
Wiping a tear off her face, Mya stood up, clutching one of those heavy trash bags. Sucking my teeth, I snatched the bag out of her hand. “I got it.”
“Omari, you aint gotta help her lazy ass,” Meeka scoffed.
“And Ion need you to tell me what I aint gotta do,” I snapped, before turning to her sister. “Where did you park?”
“Right next to Meeka,” ole girl told me.
I nodded, while picking up the other trash bag filled with Mya’s shit. I then made my way down the sidewalk. By the time, I reached the parking lot, I realized that she was behind me.
“I guess you got what you wanted, huh?”
I turned to look at her. “You know this aint what I wanted. So, why even say some dumb shit like that?”
She shrugged solemnly. “Whatever. Now you and Skyy can do yall without me in the middle…or you and Meeka. You know how that goes.”
“Fuck Skyy. Real muthafuckin talk.” I placed the bags next to the Ford Explorer parked next to Meeka’s Jeep. “And you already know how I feel about Meeka. She lucky that I aint going in on her ass, right now.”
Her eyes dropped to the ground. “I guess.” Another tear slipped from her eye.
It fucked me up that it wasn’t more I could do about the situation. And I definitely wasn’t expecting for her to be gone for the whole summer. “Look,” I licked my lips, while looking around, making sure the coast was clear. “It’s gonna be alright. Here.” I dug in my pocket, and grabbed my knot. Peeling back ten big faces, I handed it to her. “That’s a lil’ something to hold you over. Call me,” I whispered, as I noticed Meeka and her sister headed our way.
She quickly tucked the money into her bra, before gazing up at me. She swallowed hard. “Don’t forget about me.”
I nodded, playing it cool. But little did she know, I couldn’t forget about her, even if I tried.
Chapter 15
Mya
The sun was beaming, as we sat on the porch, but nobody wanted to miss a minute of the action. Black people always acted up in the heat, so every day we witnessed some form of entertainment.
“Damn, my head is sore,” I complained, as I rubbed my scalp.
“Yeah, that’s how it’ll be for the next few days,” my cousin Valisha commented.
“They cute, though,” Cavalli, Valisha’s sister added. “How much did they charge you?” she squinted her eyes.
Rubbing my small, but long, silky faux locks, I cut my eyes at her. “Two fifty,” I rolled my eyes, because that was literally her sixth time asking that.
“And you need to put us down with your connect, because those Walmart to Walmart wires come in like clockwork for you,” Cavalli chirped, prying into my business as usual.
I waved her off, because I’d become accustomed to her smart-ass mouth. Truthfully, my cousins weren’t nearly as bad, as I’d last remembered. Since I’d been there in Dallas, they’d embraced me, and we’d been kicking it tough. Every day it was a new adventure, and I hadn’t even thought about going back to Houston.
Cavalli was the oldest of us three, at nineteen years old, and had just graduated high school. Valisha was eighteen, and was entering in her senior year in high school like me. They were both exact replicas of our mamas with the light skin, hazel eyes, and thin frames. So, in our younger years I just never saw eye to eye with them. Maybe it was because Meeka would always praise them, while putting me down in the same breath. Regardless of why we used to bump heads, we were now cool. And they were two of the funniest people I knew.
Unlike back in Houston, in Dallas I could smile without Meeka finding a reason to snatch that happiness away. I didn’t have to hide my nice clothes, and recoil whenever adults were present. I could be myself 24/7, and it was so liberating. And my cousins were girls on the scene, so we stayed in the mix, having more fun than I’d had in years.
Cavalli had a driver’s license, and used her mama’s car damn near every day. She knew people everywhere, so I’d become quite acquainted with several of them as well. They lived in Oak Cliff, right in the center of the hood. They stayed in some projects by the name of Telstar, and I was loving every minute of the downhome ghetto fun.
“Yall, I’m thinking about getting Micko’s car tonight. We can fall off in somebody’s club, or just fuck around in a lot,” Cavalli voiced.
I nodded my head in agreement, when my cell rang. It was him, which immediately put a smile on my face. I was actually surprised that he didn’t video call, nonetheless, I answered. “Hey.”
“What’s popping?” Omari cheerfully questioned.
“Oh, nothing. I’m just sitting out here on the porch,” I told him.
“Is that O?” Valisha questioned, and I gave her a nod.
With my cousins living so far away from me, they didn’t know Omari personally. Still, I only referred to him as O in their presence, and they had no clue that he was Meeka’s boyfriend. So, as far as they were concerned, he was my lil’ boo back in Houston who called me non-stop.
“You miss me?” Omari queried.
“You know I do.”
“What yall doing out here?” Cortez asked loudly, as he stepped onto the porch. It was always crazy to hear people from Dallas say anything with a R at the end, because here sounded like her coming from him. But yeah, he was a local D-boy that often stopped by to smoke a few blunts with us. He was a smooth chocolate tone, with a lean physique. He had a nice little swag, but honestly I was still getting adjusted to how different the dudes were, when comparing them to Houston niggas.
“Nothing,” both Cavalli and Valisha replied in unison.
His eyes shifted to me. “What’s up, Mya?”
Before I could respond, Omari cut in. “Who is that nigga?”
“What’s up?” I mouthed, not wanting to hear Omari’s mouth.
“Oh, you talking to your boyfriend?” Cortez chuckled louder than necessary.
“Man,” I heard Omari drawl. “Why every time I talk to you it’s a nigga somewhere around? The fuck are you out there doing?”
I sucked me teeth. “Nothing. I told you that.”
“It don’t sound like fucking nothing to me.”
“But it is,” I insisted, as I got out of my chair, and left the porch. I didn’t need everybody in my business. “Why you tripping?”
“Cause you playing with me,” he scoffed. “You got that money I sent yesterday?”
“Yeah.”
“So, why you aint say shit? I aint hear from you, after you called for the shit. It’s like that now?”
“Huuh,” I huffed. “By the time, I picked the money up, my phone was dead. And we didn’t get back to the house, until late. I was at the beauty shop.”
“I know you wasn’t at that beauty shop that whole night.”
“Well, no. After we left there, we hung out.”
“Hung out, huh? You been really cutting up since you been down there. Let me find out that you fucking with them niggas.”
/> Just as he said that, my line clicked. It was my friend Tip calling, but I ignored the call. I knew that he’d call right back, and I was hoping that Omari wouldn’t notice. Since I’d met Tip back in June he’d been on me tough, calling non-stop, stopping by unannounced, and giving me a few ends. We’d never done more than kiss, and that was because of what I felt for Omari. But the more I thought about it, the more my logic made no sense. How the hell could I remain loyal to a nigga who belonged to my mama?
“Boy, aint nobody worried about no niggas,” I claimed.
“Who…who was that calling on the other line?” he questioned.
“This girl down the sidewalk,” I quickly lied. “Quit tripping.”
Once again, Tip was calling on the other line.
“Mya, you really playing with me. Your line clicking back to back. That gotta be a nigga. You out there fucking around?”
“Nooo,” I stressed. “Why do you keep asking that?”
“Cause, you probably walking around half naked, enticing them niggas. What you wearing, right now?”
I giggled. Was this nigga serious? “Hmm, I’m wearing a t-shirt and some leggings.”
“Is that right?” he questioned skeptically. “Well, who is this chick I’m looking at right now?”
“Huh?” a chill shot up my spine.
“Yeah, she out here in some lil’ bity Nike shorts and sports bra. I mean, she got it all hanging out. And there’s a big fucking tattoo on her side that she neglected to tell me about. What is that shit? I think it’s a flower with thorns on it. Yeah, that’s what it is.”
I spun around, searching the lot for him. The only out of place car was a black Benz. “It couldn’t be,” I mumbled to myself.
“Oh, it definitely could,” he griped, pushing the driver’s door of the Benz open.
“What the hell?” my mouth fell open.
I watched as he stood up with a silly grin on his face. I swear he looked better than I remembered. The Robin’s jeans and tee looked fresh off the racks. When he stepped around the door, I realized that he was Rocking all Gucci accessories, including his shoes.
“Ahhhh!” I screeched, as I ran over, leaping into his arms. Wrapping my arms around his neck, and my legs around his waist, I held on for dear life.
“Yeah, I got your sneaky ass,” he proclaimed, before sloppily kissing me.
Leaning me up against the Benz, we kissed feverishly.
“Mya, who is this nigga?” Cavalli pried, as she and Valisha walked over.
“Huh?” I gasped, as Omari finally released me our intense kiss.
“Who is this?” Valisha spoke up.
I smiled, as he placed me on my feet. “This is O.”
“What’s up?” he spoke to them.
“Hey,” Valisha gave him a small wave.
“’Sup?” Cavalli sneakily grinned.
“What you doing out here?” I asked Omari.
I gazed directly into my eyes. “To see you.”
My heart skipped a beat. “Oh.”
His eyes swept over my cousins. “Yall mind if I kidnap her for a few?”
“Nah, it’s yall world,” Cavalli replied.
“Yeah, but what are we gonna tell mama?” Valisha wanted to know.
Cavalli shrugged. “Just go over Lonny’s house, and I’ll tell her that Mya went with you.”
“Okay,” Valisha easily agreed. Lonny was her best friend, and she would go over her house daily, regardless. “But you gon owe us, Mya.”
“And I’ll take care of that, right now,” Omari offered, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a bank roll, bigger than any I’d ever seen him with. With no hesitation, he handed them two hundred a piece.
“Bitch, O is a keeper. You better keep this nigga around,” Cavalli murmured before twisting off.
“Hell, yeah,” Valisha co-signed. “He’s cousin-in-law for life. Mya better not dream of bringing another nigga around us,” she laid it on pretty thick.
I rolled my eyes. “Girl, bye.”
“Girl bye?” he repeated, as he got in my face. “What that mean? You fucking around? Let me find out.” He playfully bit my jaw.
Instead of pushing him away, I embraced him, wrapping my arms around his neck again. “Uh, I missed you.”
“Yeah?” he breathed huskily. “Show me.”
Omari
I was enjoying the look on Mya’s face since we’d stepped into the Hyatt Regency. We’d been to plenty of motels, but never a hotel, so this was new to her. As things changed, I wanted to expand my horizon, and hers too. So, I’d gotten us a nice suite to chill in.
“This is so nice, Omari,” she told me for the third time, as we stepped into our room. “But whose credit card did you use?”
I blinked my eyes. “Come again.”
“I asked whose credit or debit card did you use.”
I sucked my teeth. “There you got with the bullshit, but for your information, I got it with my own card. I got a bank account now.”
She folded her arms. “And what about the Benz?”
I licked my lips. “It’s mine.”
“I bet that bitch helped you get it too,” she grumbled.
Not wanting to go there, I pretended not to hear that.
“I still can’t believe that you drove way out here without telling me. What if my auntie would’ve been home? And how did you know where they live?”
“What’s so hard to believe about me wanting to see you?” I narrowed my eyes. “And I talk with you enough to know that your auntie had to work today, and Meeka told me where her sister stayed in casual conversation. I was gonna get the apartment number from you, if push came to shove. But I aint even have to do all that, because yo extra hot ass was the first thing I seen when I pulled up. You out here clowning.”
She pursed her lips together. “Omari, what are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about the shit you had on,” I pointed out. She was practically naked earlier, and I’d made her change, before we burnt off. “You wasn’t leaving nothing to the imagination. And what the fuck you been doing with all that money I sent you? Eating fucking leaves? You hitting the pipe?”
She tittered. “Boy, stop it. I’ve been eating good, but I’m more active now. So, the weight has been dropping.”
I gave her the side eye. “If you say so. Don’t lose no more. Be walking around looking like you got that lick.”
“Whatever,” she waved me off.
Admittedly, Mya was looking sexy as fuck, but if she got a couple of pounds lighter, her thickums card would be revoked. Although, I loved her with her natural hair, this new style was fly, and brought out her pretty baby-faced features. The soft baby hairs around her edges reminded me of the nice grade of hair she had. She wore a simple black fitted racer-back mini dress, but I could tell that she’d tapped into something she couldn’t reach at first. Like she was in her bag, realizing that she was bad. And that shit meant trouble…for me.
I stepped up to her. “So, what’s been up with you?”
She swayed from side to side. “You know. It’s not like you don’t talk to me every day.”
“Yeah, but that shit aint enough.”
She wore a wicked smile, gripping my shirt. “You need more, huh?”
“Hell, yeah,” I growled, as I allowed her to pull me over to the bed.
For the first time, I didn’t have to tell her what to do. Before I could say a word, she’d snatched off those clothes, along with mine too. We kissed wildly, until she made her way down to my dick. She took me by complete surprise when she engulfed me in her mouth. She’d told me several times before that she hadn’t given head yet, so I never pressured her. But she was sucking me up like a pro.
My toes were curling, as I gritted my teeth. When she deep throated me, I gripped the fuck out of her hair, thinking that there was no way that she’d learned that shit overnight. Surprisingly, that didn’t deter her, as she devoured my dick. Just when I was about to bust, she let up.r />
“Nu uh, nigga,” she pushed me back on the bed, before straddling me. “I aint done, yet.” She tooted her ass up, before slipping down on my hard-on. Placing her hands on her knees, she rode the hell out of my dick.
Looking up at her, that huge tattoo that covered her whole side, as well as a nice portion of her stomach was eye-catching. The longer I stared at her, the more she seemed to captivate me. Her pussy was gripping me tightly, while her tits bounced up and down. Her fuck-face was the sexiest shit I’d ever seen, as she puckered her softy, pouty lips.
“Damn, I miss this dick,” she panted, while grabbing my hand. Boldly, she made me palm her breast, and stroke her nipple. “Uh,” she looked down, as I met her thrusts, serving her the dick. “O…Omari, any…anybody fucking you better?”
I bit my bottom lip. “Hell, nah.”
She whipped her head around, tossing some hair over her shoulders. “P…promise?” she asked, before arching her back, wobbling her ass.
“You can believe that shit,” I gritted, as I gripped her hips. Our skins clapped as, as I banged the pussy out.
“Uh! Uh! Uhhhh!” she belted, as her head fell back.
We moved together, until we both exploded. “Damn, stop playing with me,” I grunted, slapping her ass.
She giggled. “I promise I’m not.”
“Yeah, okay,” I sighed, as she rested her head on my shoulder. It wasn’t long before she lightly snoring, as I was left alone with my thoughts.
The way she’d sucked my dick with so much expertise didn’t sit right with me, as well as the fact that her cell was ringing off the fucking hook. Thinking of her being with another nigga was about to drive me crazy, as I strongly considered waking her up for a thorough interrogation. But before I could even run with that idea, her cell was ringing again. Snatching it off the nightstand, I answered it.
“Yeah?”
Silence.
“Hello?”
“Uh, yeah. Where Mya at?”
I frowned. “Who is this?”
“This Tip,” the nigga replied as if his name was supposed to mean something to me.
“Tip, huh?” I shoved Mya, causing her eyes to pop open. “The fuck you want with Mya?”
