Cade's silence was almost deafening as he opened the door for her and after a quick kiss, he closed it with a small smile.

Cade let his goddess stew for the few moments it took for him to join her and as he sat in the driver's seat he voiced his concerns.

"I am all for putting these slavers in the ground my love, even taking Laurith from them isn't as scary as it was a half-hour ago. I have an issue though with how the regular citizens will respond to the coup that we are about to perform. The nobles that you have told me about through our little spy's aren't going to take having their slaves and power taken from them lying down."

As they eased out of the garage Cade sealed the house behind them, the exits and entrances molding into their housings. The mithril enclosed building would stand up to a lot, the safety of his wives was almost assured unless their enemies could pull a nuke out of their asses.

Returning his attention to the matter at hand Cade continued as Promena gave him a sultry prospective look.

"I think we should find an acceptable replacement for our soon to be deposed high chieftain. If you could put your considerable skills to that task I would appreciate it very much. Also once we get Laurith and we are no longer in immediate danger I would like to put some of my power towards a few civil charities."

"What did you have in mind, my love? Oh, and I would have searched for your replacement if you had only asked but I will still take my "payment". Hmm, I will have to think about what I really want, I will let you know what I decide. Though your discussion with Beth might bear more fruit than you think my husband. But as to your charity what were you thinking?"

Promena finished her question with a smile that chilled Cade to the bone. Realizing he had put his foot way past his mouth with the open favor to his goddess he swallowed the proverbial water on his knee before he continued with his plan.

"If we could make a few homes for the poor and homeless we might be able to sway public opinion our way, though I think it won't be as difficult as I believe it will. The people here have been treated like garbage for far too long to simply throw aside a little help. With my powers and a few of the more dilapidated buildings to break down, I think I could have a few public housing buildings created in a few days, with all the amenities as well."

As Cade flew over the city walls pulling a giggle from Promena as they felt the lack of gravity from the maneuver he continued.

"My plan for food for them will follow the same idea. I hope at least the running water and the appliances will pull favor our way from some of the more open-minded nobles and the loss of face from not having the best of the best for their homes I hope will gather the rest to our side."

As Cade finished they arrived at the front of the keep.

  "Loud or quiet my wife?"

Cade asked as they hovered a few feet off of the ground.

"Loud but with respect my Cade, we want them to fear us but not feel as if they are backed into a corner. The rats will make us kill them if we do." Promena's statement ended as Cade settled Poppy in front of the gates.

As Cade moved to open his wife's door he smiled as a full-length hood and cape appeared on her shrouding her form in the black cloth and the deep hood showing nothing of her face.

"Can't have them cowering before me instead of you my love," Promena said her face covered in shadow but her voice clearly containing a smile.

"It is just a shame to let them off without having them bow before your power and beauty my love, but if that is what you want,"

Cade finished his statement in all seriousness, all of his wives were powerful in their own rights and that more than their beauty attracted him to them.

"Flirt," Promena said as she took her husband's offered hand and joined him on the ground.

"Can't call it flirting if it's true, my love. Now, where are we going?" Cade asked as he followed his hooded wife towards the guards stationed in front of the keep.

"State your name and business... please." One of the guards a leather-clad orc asked.

"We are here to meet Laurith, is that ok?" Cade said with a smile, glad his stunt with guard captain Wroth had made an impression.

"Yes Mage Cade, if you have an appointment with Mage Graft we can get you to him and he can show you the way." The guard said respectfully.

"We don't and I think Mage Graft will have to wait to meet me, my plans for him will be a little while coming," Cade said as he started walking after Promena who with a wave of her hand opened the gates.

"See you guys later, don't worry we will show ourselves out when we are done," Cade said dismissively as he followed Promena into the keep.

As the hesitant shouts of the guards grew faint Cade took his first real look at the political center of the city.

The drabness and broken down buildings he had gotten used to through his gathering of Beth and his regular reports from Promena's spying spell caused him to growl in annoyance at the decadence of what he saw in the keep.

Gold and mithril ran throughout the entryway, inscribed with intricate artwork from the dwarves' runes to more tribal artwork whose origins he couldn't place.

A massive carpet covered the marble floors that opened into what Cade assumed was the throne room where Havrai held court.

Cade sneered at the picture of the high chieftain that was embroidered into the massive floor covering, that sneer grew to a disbelieving eye roll as he took in the humongous painting of Havrai above the throne room chair.

Late in the evening as it was there were few people about. A couple of collared slaves wearing fine garments strode toward them.

They were sidetracked by a contingent of guards that took one look at Cade and thought better of trying to stop him as they left in a hurry.

Cad and Promena chucked as they heard a few scattered whispers of "not my dick" as they ran to an open door and after opening it in a rush locked themselves into what Cade assumed was done of the many guard stations for the keep.

"I'm glad my reputation precedes me," Cade said as he offered Promena his arm.

"Come along my love before your ego keeps you from making it through the doors," Promena said after she slid her own delicate arm into his before she directed them to the right-hand hallway that led deeper into the keep.

Stepping out of the last of the labyrinth of hallways into a massive room Cade stopped in his tracts as he took in their target for the first time.

The black dragon he and Promena had come to collect was huge.

Laurith was at least a few hundred feet long from the tip of her horned draconic head to the tapered tip of her long tail with black scales that seemed to swallow the torchlight into their inky depths.

Her wings, which at that moment were folded to her sides, reminded Cade of bird wings feathers, and all.

Cade stood immobilized as the instinctive fear of the apex predator taking up most of the massive underground chamber held him in its grasp.

As she roared into the pit that was evidently her prison Cade was shocked out of his fearful state and spotted an impressive four-poster bed sitting in between her massive claws.

As he spotted the targets of her wrath, Havrai and Graft, he and Promena walked down the stone staircase built into the wall of the pit.

As they walked on the sandy ground towards the massive dragon Cade looked again at the two men that had made his time in this world much more difficult than it needed to be.

The large form of Havrai seemed tiny in comparison to Laurith's massive bulk.

Cade had a moment of startling realization as he found the jaguar man's shoulder would stand higher than the top of his head, the man had to be at least eight feet tall with shoulders that spanned almost five.

Sitting between the massive jaguar man's muscled shoulders was a ridiculously large sword that was longer than Cade was tall. The tip of the blade ruffled a mithril studded leather skirt that held bones and feathers and a few sharp teeth in it.

All in all the high chieftain was a
n imposing figure that Cade believed had earned his position, it was just sad that he was so shit at it though.

Standing next to the massive jaguar man, lost in his impressive shadow was the true leader of this city.

Graft checked all the boxes for Cade's idea of a simpering villain, his greasy black hair and pale face shrouding piercing green eyes that were full of malice and hate for the dragon they were trying to cow.

The slaver wore a black leather long sleeve jacket that conformed to his upper body and displayed his slender torso and arms.

His black leather pants did the same as they stuck to his legs like a second skin.

Unlike Havrai's bare padded feet, Graft wore a pair of black boots that were polished to a mirror shine.

As Cade and Promena continued their little stroll he noticed with a start that even Graft stood taller than him the beanpole of a man at least seven feet tall.

As he and Promena walked up next to the two fuming leaders of the city he was graced by Laurith's voice, the growling tones he had expected were absent instead the dragon's voice held him enraptured with it's inexplicably soft and sultry tones for a few moments as she voiced her displeasure.

"And why should I kill this Cade and his wives? You offer nothing I need, the only comforts that we're requested of you have already been given."

Laurith's massive clawed foot gestured at the large bed in front of her before she continued her tirade.

"And food you little cat, food I have whenever I want. I am Laurith the Black and you and your little city should be glad I have let you enjoy my presence for as long as I have. Now leave us, someone worthy of my time has arrived."

As Cade and Promena created two chairs and sat in them while they waited to negotiate with the dragon their enemies struck.

Flames, spikes of earth, and jets of water flew towards them in their seats.

Cade threw up a shield around Promena as she sat smiling at him, and a split second before the attack hit him in his chair he braced for the pain he knew was coming.

As his skin was burnt to ash after his clothes were lit aflame, Cade almost enjoyed the coolness of the water jets before they blew through his body.

As he grit his blackened teeth he was impaled by a dozen stone and metal spikes and lifted out of his seat. As the attacks ended he felt at least ten questing mental tendrils come up against his mental shield.

As his healing began the process of making what he assumed was a massive attack on him and his wife moot Cade slapped the mental attack aside and destroyed the spikes holding him aloft.

"Ok, everyone got that out of their systems? Good, now leave Laurith and I have much to talk about," Cade said after he had a tongue to talk with again.

His words were met by disbelieving looks from the mages that had appeared around the lip of the staircase he and Promena had descended to get to Laurith's pit.

Another tendril of mental power tried to attack his shield once again, to his surprise he felt cracks appear in it.

Cade trailed the mental attack back to its source, Graft. As the slaver sneered at him Cade frowned as he felt the attack hit once again.

Tripling his shield he attacked the slavers mind, a creative solution to the problem of stopping the man without killing him coming to him as Xandia and Sabine were to be the ones to enjoy that pleasure.

Graft's mental shield felt rubbery and resisted his attacks like Qetch's had.

As Cade forced more power into his attack he almost heard the sounds of tearing as the shield failed to prevent him from invading Graft's mind.

As he implemented his punishment for the slaver he felt utter shock almost bleeding from the Graft's stunned mind.

Cade smiled as he lit up every pain receptor in the man's groin and tied the source to a random eyelash on the man's face.

As Graft dropped to the rocky ground Cade heard a laugh from Promena followed quickly by Laurith's own weirdly soft but loud chuckle.

As the screaming man was hauled off by Havrai, Cade looked at the strangely subdued Laurith as she reverently dipped her massive head.

"Goddess it is a pleasure to meet you," Laurith said as her form began to shrink.

Cade reflexively grasped the dragon in his power and was surprised as she continued to shrink into herself.

Wondering where her mass was going Cade's puzzlement grew as he found no clue as to the location of the missing matter that made up the dragon.

His curiosity changed to dread as the scales that made up the dragon turned into brown skin.

His dread turned into terror as he looked at Promena's now visible smug face, the hood and cape gone, as she winked at him before returning her attention to the dragon woman Laurith had become.

Cade grimaced as he looked at the attractive woman that stood before him and his goddess.

His little freinemy pulsed as he watched Laurith's breasts bounce in a brassier made of her black scales that covered her assets that were almost as large as Beth's as she walked towards her bed.

As Laurith made her way to the four-poster bed Cade had a quick glance at her rear that was on par with his goddesses glorious behind. The theme of dragon scale undergarments continued as the brown-skinned woman wore a black scaled thong that though sexy Cade had to imagine pinched in some very unfortunate places.

As Laurith sat Cade got a look at her face as the distraction of her bosom ended. Her red eyes were slitted like Sabine and Xandia's but had a yellow ring around them.

Cade found her features were more angular making her more striking than beautiful. Glossy black hair split by two spiral horns above her elfin ears ran down her back and pooled on the bed as she got her own eyeful of Cade.

"You don't seem impressed human, most of the newer staff either run screaming or try and assault me after they see this form," Laurith said with a quizzical tone in her voice, curious as to the origin of the distraught look this human was giving her as he looked between her and the goddess of change.

Laurith's confusion allowed her draconic instincts to tear the tall brown man limb from limb for not giving proper deference to her to fade as her other instinct for treasure took over, their talk of deals and negotiations bringing that powerful instinct to the fore.

"Who are you to walk into this keep unworried for your life and in the presence of a goddess no matter her weakened form," Laurith asked with a little heat, the strange human had still not spoken to her, nor begged for his life.

The lack of reaction was beginning to infuriate her.

Laurith's irritation grew as the human shook his head in defeat and looked at her like she was an orphaned hatchling he was grudgingly taking under his wing.

"I am Cade Willmartin and you know my wife Promena it seems. We have come to offer you a deal that will allow you to be free of this prison."

Cade's offer of freedom was met by a burst of laughter as Laurith fell back on the bed giving Cade the pleasant if unwanted view of her scale thong covered crotch and the mountains of her breasts as they jiggled with her mirth.

His irritated expression grew sour as the dragon woman looked again at his face in disbelief as she sat up in the bed.

"I am no prisoner if I wanted to leave I could. These fools offer me a nest and anything I want to eat. Their only failing is the lack of treasure to rest my body upon, though this bed suffices at the moment."

Cade took a look at the dragon woman once again before he dug deep into the ground under them and pulled a pile of gems and glittering metal up to pile in front of them.

"Anything else we can get to secure your assistance?" Cade asked with a frown.

As Laurith's skeptical expression changed to one of shrewd contemplation Cade braced himself for the next evitable question.

"How much more of that can you produce?" Laurith asked with a smug look on her face, the human mage in front of her might be powerful but all mages had their limits and this one would be no exception.

Cade had to fight tooth and nail to keep the
grin that threatened to split his face from showing as he gathered his power.

Converting the rocky ground ten feet deep around them into a pile of gold and jewels took a few seconds and a fifty-pound block of iron he found a few hundred feet down but as a three-foot deep ocean of precious stones and gold surrounded them he felt he had more than matched the expectation the dragon had placed upon him.

As Laurith's jaw dropped Cade knew he had hit the mark.

"Anything else?" Cade asked the smug grin he had been fighting growing on his face as he mentally pumped his fist.

Cade's self-congratulatory party was interrupted by the words he had feared would come out of the dragon's black lips.
