“And then you brought me here?” asked Aria.
“Yes.”
“But how did you explain all my injuries to the doctors?” asked Aria.
“Just told them someone attacked you and the police is working on who did it, but by police I actually meant me alone,” Wilson explained.
“So then I’m free?”
“In a nutshell, yes, and now that you’re free, there’s something I have been meaning to tell you, Aria.” Wilson got up and took her hand.
“What?”
“I think I’m in love with you, Aria. I know you didn’t want to do anything about that while you were being suspected of the murders, but now that you’re free…”
Aria interrupted and squeezed his hands. “I think I’m in love with you, too.” At that, Wilson bent down to kiss her, and this time she kissed back.

Relief From…Other Vampires?
“Stay here and guard the doors to the palace!” orders Caleb.
“Caleb,” I say, “I was left out of the first battle. Please, let me help with this one. I have been training hard in my free time, and I know I can take them down. Ask Adam. He’s been training me.” I look to Adam for guidance.
“Yes, and she’s been doing really well,” says Adam.
“Fine,” concedes Caleb. “Come with me.” He orders others to stay by the palace in my place, and Adam, other wolves and I follow Caleb. The only regret I have is that with no warning, I will have to break out of my dress when I shift into wolf form, and that really sucks, because I had spent a lot of time picking out and bartering for the perfect dress. It’s light pink – my favorite color – and falls halfway down from my knees to my feet with ruffles at the bottom, a heart-shaped neckline and wide pink straps. My shoes were also perfect, but at least those will be saved when I simply slip out of them.
When we get there, the vampires are already on their way in. Everyone starts to shift and I follow suit. I jump up into the air, shift while in the air, and land on my four feet in wolf form, my dress tearing at the seams as it comes off of me and falls in shreds to the ground. I shake my fur, show my fangs, and growl as I approach the nearest free vampire, a young man with long brown hair tied back, wearing a Hard Rock Café t-shirt and jeans. This young man is not handsome and all and I have no problem ramming my head into him, causing him to fall backwards quickly. He becomes completely disoriented for a second before getting up again and growling at me, showing his own fangs. As I lower my head to run into him a second time, however, I feel someone grabbing at my tail, pulling me back. I look back to find an older male vampire, this one also quite ugly and showing his fangs at me, holding on. I turn around quickly and use my tail to throw him off, causing him to lose his grip on me and crash into a couple fighting nearby. The wolf opponent quickly gets up and takes a stance to attack again as I then run to jump on my vampire attacker and take a bite out of his neck, completely taking off his head. I throw his head away and then return my focus on the young vampire that now has fear in his eyes. This young one must’ve been turned recently, like the one we killed in the forest long ago. I run at him anyway, grab a hold of one of his arms and toss him into a nearby tree, biting into his arm in the process, thus letting my venom poison his blood. He immediate falls off the tree and then curls up into a fetal position, moaning in agony as I make my way to find a new target.
I see that Adam is busy with four vampires and take one out, lessening his burden, by ramming her in the back, causing her to fall on her stomach. She turns around just as I jump onto her and I take off her head, like I did her male counterpart earlier. I am about to lessen Adam’s burden even more when some new vampires enter the square, but instead of attacking wolves, they immediately start attacking the vampires from the first wave of attack. I am confused, of course, as I see that two of the vampires that are now attacking other vampires are very familiar – the male and the female Seth and I encountered a few weeks ago.
Concentrate! I think to myself, not wanting to let myself be mesmerized by that male again, so strong and debonair as he takes on one of the vampires that was attacking Adam. I watch him as he manages to grab the other vampire in a chokehold and then rip his head off like a stuffed animal.
The female grabs another vampire elsewhere by pushing her into the ground, ramming her hand into the other female’s chest, and taking out her heart as easily as if she was putting her hand in pudding.
Right then, another vampire grabs me by the tail, attempting to pull me into him. As I’m about to turn around once again to take this one out the same way I did the other, the handsome male appears out of nowhere and gets the attacking vampire off me. He then rams his hand into the attacker’s chest, takes out his heart, and then throws it to the ground. The attacker’s body goes limp and falls like a rag doll. He then looks my way and I am afraid he’s going to turn on me, but instead he smiles and then runs off to battle more vampires.
I look around and there’s fighting everywhere – vampires on vampires and wolves on vampires. But I become horrified when I realize a horrible scene happening just fifty feet away from where I am standing. I run towards the scene to get as close as I can, ducking under and jumping over fighters as I go.
“Seth! Hang on!” Jessie yells, after having taken out her opponents and seen Seth down on the ground. Jessie is now in human form, but Seth is still in wolf form. His eyes are open but he is very weak. I see a bite in his right arm, a vampire bite. This is bad. He will die within hours as the vampire venom takes hold and consumes his blood. I stay back to let Jessie hold him. Her only choice is to say “goodbye” and comfort him for his last few hours of life.
Seth, I’m so sorry I wasn’t here for you, I say to him, but he is too weak to answer back.
But then a vampire runs up, the redheaded female we saw on the cliff. “Don’t worry,” she says to Jessie. “I have an antidote with me. But we must move quickly to administer it to him or he will die within hours.” She pulls out a bottle filled with some liquid that I don’t recognize. I worry that this may actually be some kind of poison, because I don’t know this woman, and despite that she fought off other vampires, she is still a vampire herself, and therefore can’t be trusted.
Then, Seth loses consciousness.
I growl my dissent, but Jessie holds her hand out to hold me back. “It’s okay,” she says, “I think we can trust her.”
I stay back and watch, as this female vampire hands the bottle to Jessie, who gently lifts Seth’s head. The female vampire pulls out the cork on the bottle for her, and Jessie attempts to slowly pour the liquid into his mouth, causing drips to leak out on the sides.
“You don’t need to give him too much,” the female vampire explains. “Just about a third of the bottle or so.”
Jessie nods, stops when the bottle is only two-thirds full, and gives the bottle back to this vampire, keeping hold of Seth’s head and looking down on him.
“Please, Seth,” she tells him, “don’t die on me.”
“The antidote will take some time to work fully,” explains the female vampire, “but we should take him somewhere safe away from this battle.” The vampire stands up. “By the way, my name is Camilla.”
“I’m Jessie…and thank you,” says Jessie.
“This is Seth,” she gestures towards him with her eyes, “and behind me is Dalia.” She gestures towards me with her free hand.
So now we’re all chummy? I grunt to myself. Just then, the female…er, Camilla…slowly comes towards me, holding out both hands like she’s trying to approach a scared puppy dog, which of course I am not. I let out another growl in dissent as Camilla says to me, “It’s alright. I won’t hurt you. I’m not one of them.” As I continue to growl,
she gently puts one of her hands on my head and starts to pet me, which feels really nice. I close my eyes and lower my head as she gently moves her hand from my head down to my neck and across my back. She then lets go and says, “See?”
Jessie then gently puts down Seth’s head. “My house is right over there. Let’s get him into my bed. The only thing is I’m not strong enough to carry him.”
At that, Camilla whistles off in the distance towards the handsome one that mesmerizes me. I start feeling really nervous as he quickly takes out his latest vampire opponent and runs over.
“We need help with this man,” she explains to him. “He’s been bitten by one of the evil ones. We just fed him some antidote.” She begins introducing us one by one. “This is Jessie. The wolf is Dalia. And this is Seth.”
“I’m sorry for what they have done to your friend,” the male vampire apologizes quickly to Jessie. “My name is Ethan.” He bends down, easily picks up Seth into his arms, and then asks, “Where to?”
“To my house,” responds Jessie, who then leads the way.
I look back at the fight that is now dying down fast. Most of the “evil vampires”, as Ethan referred to them, have been taken down now, but many wolves are down, too. I am happy to see that Caleb and Adam, at least, are still very much alive and fighting.
Camilla takes notice at me looking out, and then says to Jessie and Ethan, “You go in. I’m going to administer this antidote to as many of the weakened wolves as I can.” At that, she runs off as Jessie leads Ethan and Seth into the house, followed by me.
My True Form
When I enter, Jessie leads Ethan and Seth into her bedroom, where Ethan carefully lays Seth onto her bed. He is still unconscious, and also still in wolf form, but may change when he’s healed. Jessie covers him up in her blanket, just in case.
“Thank you,” Jessie says to Ethan. “Please excuse me while I put on some clothes.” She didn’t have a chance when she saw Seth down outside and had been covering herself up with a blanket she found on an outside patio chair nearby. I follow her into a large closet where she has a dresser and some clothes hung up. I nudge her.
“Do you want to shift?” she asks me.
I nod.
She quickly picks out a t-shirt, pulls out a bra and panties, and a pair of jeans. “I hope this fits you okay.”
I shift into human form and quickly change into the clothes picked out for me. “Thank you,” I say as she changes into some clothes, too.
When we both walk back into the room, Ethan is still there at Seth’s bedside. Jessie quickly walks to the other side and takes one of his paws. “You’re going to get better now,” Jessie says to him, hoping he can hear her. She starts to pet the top of his head.
“It will take some time,” explains Ethan, “but yes, he will be fully healed in a few hours when the venom completely leaves his system.” At that, he looks up and then at me as if seeing me for the first time, which, of course, he has…in my human form, anyway.
“Uh…hi,” I say to him, starting to feel nervous.
“Are you…Dalia?” he asks, obviously taken by surprise.
“Y-yes, this is me…in my human form,” I explain. As he looks me up and down from my face down to my feet, I get more and more nervous, but also mesmerized once again by his gorgeous face and his hard-to-resist brown eyes. And even worse, I can see his body better now that he’s standing right in front of me. He’s wearing a tight-fitting tank top that hugs his body and reveals his rock-hard abs and bulging arm muscles. His choice of pants this time are dark blue jeans that are also rather tight, showing off a rear that I can only imagine must be tight and good-looking. His hair is a bit of a mess, which is expected since he had just been fighting other vampires.
“You’re one of the wolves from the cliff, aren’t you?” he asks after studying me for a few minutes.
“Yes…wait…you saw me?”
“I sensed you. That’s why we ran away – Camilla and I – so quickly. We were afraid you might attack us. We meant no harm.”
We continue to stare at each other for what had to be at least several more minutes before we are both woken up by a sound coming from Seth. We both look at him then, and he suddenly shifts back into human form, prompting Jessie to let go as his paw shifts into a human hand. While still a little bit pale, his skin is generally starting to get its color back. He opens his eyes a little bit.
“J-jessie?” he quietly speaks. “W-where am I?”
“Shhh,” Jessie responds, taking his hand into hers and brushing his hair off his face. “You’re still very weak, but you’re going to be fine. You’re in my bed, and these new vampires arrived just in time to give you an antidote of some sort. It’s taking the vampire venom out of your body right now.” She gestures towards Ethan with her other hand.
Ethan smiles. “Don’t worry. I’m not one of them…one of the evil ones. And I can feel that you were there, too, at the cliff.”
Seth nods weakly and then closes his eyes again.
“He’ll need plenty of rest,” Ethan explains.
“Maybe we should leave them alone?” I ask Ethan but really I’m asking Jessie.
“That’s a good idea,” agrees Ethan. “Jessie, we’ll be right in the other room if you need us.”
Jessie nods and says “Thank you…again…so so much.”
As soon as we come out of Jessie’s bedroom, there’s a knock on the door. I answer it to find Camilla standing there.
“Hello, I’m sorry. I was expecting to find Jessie?”
“It’s me, Dalia,” I tell her.
“Dalia? The wolf I met out here earlier?”
I nod. “This is me in human form.”
“Oh! Hello! I must say you’re very pretty in human form…not that you weren’t in wolf form, of course.”
“Thank you. You needed to see Jessie?”
“No. Ethan, actually.”
Ethan immediately joins me at the door. I feel my body shake slightly with him standing just inches away from me, but try to hide my nervousness. “Everything okay?” he asks her.
“It’s all done,” answers Camilla. “All but one are dead. The one that escaped is being chased down by Alonzo and China.”
“And the wolves that have fallen?”
“I was able to get to all of them in time.” At that, I let out a breath of relief.
“However, we are being asked to leave,” continues Camilla.
At that, Camilla steps aside to reveal Caleb coming up behind her, in human form. “I’m sorry,” he explains, “but our kind will not take lightly to your presence here, good or evil. I will try to convince them that it was with your help that we were able to take down the ‘evil ones’, as you call them, and that you brought us an antidote to save those who would’ve normally perished. But until I do, it’s best that you leave. Camilla has told me how to find you if we need you.”
“I understand,” says Ethan, who then looks at me. “It was nice to meet you…in human form. I hope we can meet again soon.”
“Um…you, too,” I say rather quickly.
Ethan smiles and leaves, giving Caleb a nod as he and Camilla gather together the others and exit the territory.
After I update Jessie, I start exploring around. The wolves that were down are gone; I suspect, like Seth, that they were taken inside their homes to recover. I also notice there are no vampire bodies or body parts around.
“Where are the vampires that perished?” I ask Caleb, who is walking beside me.
“The good vampires were kind enough to dispose of them for us,” explains Caleb.
There are trees that have fallen or have dents in them now, bushes that have been torn apart from wolves and vampires being thrown into them, and broken branches from trees lying all over the place, but thankfully, none of the houses seemed to be damaged. The palace is also undamaged, but a number of the chairs from the wedding are strewn about and the flowered arch on the ground has fallen over, no doubt from someone bein
g pushed into it during the fight. The ribbons that had been hung up are now falling in pieces, bows everywhere on the ground as well.
“What about the people inside?” I ask Caleb, referring to the guests that were asked to stay in the palace.
“I already told Adam and Ryan to let them know that it’s okay to come out now.”
As if on cue, they indeed start coming out the front doors of the palace, beginning with Sabrina and Elijah, who go immediately to Caleb for his report of the events that just happened.
After a few hours, Sabrina and Elijah head off on their honeymoon, but not without hesitation. However, Callie and Kira insist that everything will be fine while they are gone.
Aftermath
The next day, Callie and Kira have asked us all to gather together, in front of the palace, in the aftermath of latest vampire battle. However, not everyone is present, because those who were hurt by the vampires, Seth included, are still recovering in beds inside houses.
Caleb, Adam, Ryan, Jessie, a few other wolf patrol members and I are guarding the steps of the palace, but only Caleb knows why. We don’t question his orders. I have a feeling it has to do with this announcement that Callie and Kira are about to make, of course.
“First of all,” begins Callie, “we want you all to know that we have heard from Sabrina and Elijah, and they have arrived at their honeymoon destination safe and sound.”
Everyone cheers and claps. Then Callie holds up her hand to silence them.
“But on to the main reason we have asked you all to gather here. I am sorry that our black wolf allies had to travel here as well, but this is of utmost importance.”
Some whispers start among us.
“As you all know, we almost lost some of our own once again in the battle the other day…”
More whispers, that are now becoming louder.
