Pixie (Pixie Hollow Academy Book 1)

“Why can’t we attack? Maybe we can save the king and Silvia. They haven’t hurt anyone yet, it’s almost like they are waiting for her to return.”
“Which worries me. Why wait for Pixie? If he wanted to take over, now would be the time.”
“Because she is the only one that can defeat him. In all the wars, it’s always been her family and his that fought. Her family has always defeated his.”
“He wants to destroy her family, once and for all.”
“Yes, that’s his plan.” Honey sighs. “The queen is naïve if she thinks he will let her live after he gets what he wants. He wants both lands. He wants to take over the human lands next.”
“Doesn’t he realise that there has to be a balance? He will destroy the world.”
“He doesn’t think that will happen.”
“How do you know all this.”
“Jay. He told me when we left the academy. He was waiting for the dark king to summon him back; he never did, and it was then that he realised the dark king wanted war and destruction.”
“Do you still feel something for him?” I ask.
Honey smiles. “Not in that way no, but I do regret not coming to you all and warning you.”
“He turned you, made you something you weren’t.”
“It’s strange, because I don’t remember most of it, just bits and piece.”
“It’s OK,” I say pulling her to me, her head resting under my chin. “We will figure this out and restore order to our lands.
“I hope so Max, I really do.”
Dark Prison
The moment we stepped foot on the prison grounds we were surrounded. Guards from every angle trapped us, then snapped an iron bracelet on our wrist. Ava was right, the one before was nothing like this one. It sapped my energy and we all fell to the ground.
I awoke in a cell, empty apart from a cot in the corner and a bucket in the next. The stench of urine assaulted me, the death coating the air. Ava sat in her cell opposite me, her knees tucked into her chest.
“How do we get out? My father knew we would come here, he knew we would rescue the pixies.”
“My sister, she betrayed us. No one else would dare tell him what we had planned.”
“How do you know? How do you know you can trust them?”
“Because Maxell may not be my mate, but we are bonded on a brother/sister level. Honey I have known my entire life, and my grandfather and father would never betray me. That leaves Silvia. Her mother has corrupted her mind. I thought she was on our side, but she has leaked information back to her,” I say angrily, “I should never have trusted her.”
“She was convincing, even to me.”
I jump to my feet when I hear someone approaching. A guard opens my cell, a different one opens Ava’s.
“The warden wishes to see you both,” they say together.
“Oh goody.” I say sarcastically.
He roughly grabs my arm, dragging me along. “Get off me.” I shake him off, and glare in his direction. He just smirks.
We walk in a line, passing cells along the way. I glance into them, shocked at how many light pixies sit in them. Some old, some young, even pixielings. My blood boils. I pass the male cells and note where my mates are. They are all close together. They watch me as I pass, worry in their eyes.
The guard behind me pushes me forward. I stumble, almost falling but Ava catches me. A snarl echo’s through the hall. I look at Mobsy who is shaking with rage.
“Calm yourself dragon.” His hand flicks in his direction and Mobsy convulses on the ground, his teeth grinding as not to yell out in the pain he is obviously in.
“Enough Roark, she wants him alive.”
The other guard gently moves me forward. I frown at the compassion in his eyes. He winks, confusing me further.
We move on, I look back to make sure Mobsy is OK. He gives me a nod of reassurance.
The guards move us further into the prison, passing many cells with my people inside. Rage consumes me, my body becomes hot. My magic flickers, but the bracelet keeps it at bay. My anger makes me shake. The heat inside me burning. I glance down at my wrist, tugging on the iron. My eyes widen when it starts to melt, my magic flares to life.
I meet Ava’s wide eyes, she nods once. I cover my wrist with my hand. I need to meet this warden before we escape this place and take my people with me.
We stop by a door, the one called Roark knocks. He glances our way, the same smirk on his face. My stomach twists in fear. We have no idea who is on the other side of that door.
“Enter,” a female voice commands.
Roark opens the door, shoving us both inside. He closes the door behind him, it clicks shut and we both jump slightly. We face the chair, that has it’s back to us. I take Ava’s hand, she squeezes it.
“Well, I didn’t expect you to figure out how to take you bracelet off, but you managed it and now I know you are ready for this upcoming war.” The chair swings around, I gasp stumbling back.
“Mother,” I whisper.
“Hey Pixie girl.” She opens her arms and I rush to her. Her lilac smell surrounds me. I cry into her chest, my tears soaking her shirt.
“How are you here? I thought the dark king killed you.”
She laughs. “Please, that fool tried to kill me, all that did was deplete his magic further.” She takes my shoulders, looking into my eyes. “He has been using the pixies to gain power. Taking their blood. But it doesn’t last.”
“Well if he is on my lands, he will have his magic back.”
“No Pixie. When I closed that veil, I took their magic with it. Only the young have magic, they are untouched by my own curse.”
“So, he needs the pixies to have magic, his army too?”
“Yes.”
A shuffle pulls her attention away. She glances up, then moves to stand with Ava.
“Ava, is that you?” My mother peers into her eyes.
“It is.” Her own tears coat her lashes as she gazes at our mother.
She pulls her in, hugging her tightly. “I thought I would never see you again, either of you.”
“I thought father killed you,” Ava chuckles. She wipes her face as she pulls away.
“Your father couldn’t kill a fly.”
“He killed grandfather,” she replies sadly.
“Did he though? Or did he use an illusion to make you think he killed him.”
“He’s not dead?”
“No granddaughter, I am not dead.”
Ava’s head whips around so fast I hear it crack.
“Pops.’ She races into the dark pixie’s arms. He smiles, embracing her. His eyes close, a contented sigh escaping his lips.
“I missed you little one.”
I look back at my mum who has a smile on her face. “How is this possible? He said he killed you both,” I ask confused.
“Like I said, he is weak.”
“But how did he not see that you’re in charge of this place?”
“Yeah, he came here all the time. He told me that he was watching over the pixies here to make sure they were safe,” Ava says.
“And you believed that?” her grandfather asks with a slight frown. “Your father is nothing but a liar. He never came here, wherever he was going it wasn’t here.”
“He was going to the light lands, to take pixies from there homes. He would take their blood, then have his guards bring them here.”
“The guards knew Ava wasn’t her father, how?” I ask.
“Because they work for me. I told them you would come one day to rescue your people. They don’t want to be here in this wasteland. They want a normal life.”
“So, you took over?”
“Yes, along with Jackson here.”
“The people here are willing to fight the dark king’s army.”
“They are.” She smiles. “But Pixie, only you can defeat the dark king. It has been that way since the first queen. If he is in your lands, he has all the blood at his dispos
al. He never killed the pixies, but I have a feeling that he will start doing that. To kill, well, it gives you more magic, their life force.”
“Why me? Why not Ava?”
“Because you have been chosen, we both were when we were born without wings. When our magic was at its peak, we have glittery wings. Well you do, I don’t anymore,” she says sadly.
“Then we need to leave. If we stay here any longer, he could start killing my people.”
“You’re not at your strongest Pixie,” Jackson says, “you haven’t mated with all your mates, correct?”
My face heats, I shift my gaze towards the male who has a knowing smile.
“I am not that old you know; sex is a natural thing. Do you know why you have more than one mate?” he asks. I shake my head. “The first queen had more than one mate, they amplified her magic, making her stronger to defeat the first dark king. He made a mistake that day. Have you noticed that there has always been a male on the throne in my lands and a female on the throne in your lands?” he says.
“But my father sits on the throne.”
“And who sat in that throne room with him?”
“Mother,” I reply.
“Exactly. When the first queen’s family decided to renounce the throne and give it to your father’s family. A female from your line always sat in that throne room. There may have been kings, but it was always destiny that a female would sit in that palace as queen. The next one is you; you are the rightful heir to the throne. And my granddaughter will break traditions when she becomes queen of our lands.”
“That’s another thing.” I turn to my mother. “How could you mate with that male?” I ask disgusted.
She looks away, anger in her eyes. “I didn’t have a choice Pixie.”
“You mean, he…” Ava’s voice trials off.
“Let’s not talk about that,” my grandfather says. My mother looks relieved.
“Let’s get your mates out of their cells,” my mother says.
“Why throw us in there in the first place? And put these bracelets on us?” I say angrily.
“It was a test, you will find that all your mates have broken them, just like you did. Ava is new to her magic; she isn’t as advanced as you are,” she replies.
“What about Roark? Can he be trusted? He attacked my dragon.”
“He did?” she looks shocked. “Umm, we will have to keep an eye on him,” she says to Ava’s grandfather.
“Indeed.” He frowns. “I will tell them to retrieve your mates.” He leaves the room; I can hear him talking to the guards. There’s a grunt when he returns looking flushed. “He won’t be a problem any longer.”
“Do you have magic?” I ask.
“No, I have brute strength.” He flexes his arms making me giggle. “And I am still king whether they like it or not.”
“How have you not escaped this place if you have been in charge?”
“Have you encountered the beasts out there? We would all be killed. The hydra guards the prison, the ghouls would kill us and not to mention the other beasts.”
“We killed the ghouls, so they won’t be a problem,” I say flippantly.
“You killed them all?”
“Me and Felix did.”
“It was awesome. They created a fire tornado, it was epic,” Ava gushes.
“I’m sure it was. But we won’t be leaving through those gates. Pixie will be opening a veil to get us out of here,” my mother states.
“I can’t open a veil, I just about managed to open a walkway to get us here.”
“Who do you think created these veils in the first place? The first queen and dark king. Ava will help you.”
“What about these dark creatures, won’t they follow?”
“No, they can’t venture to your lands. Besides, we will be opening it inside the prison.”
“I can’t do this, I’m not strong enough.”
“I will guide you. Jackson will guide Ava. Trust us.”
All I can do is nod. I look towards the door that has opened and my heart swells. My mates’ step through and head straight to me, they engulf me in their strong arms. My heart flutters when they all kiss me, all except Mobsy.
My mother clears her throat, an amused expression on her pretty face. A face so much like my own.
My mates do a double take, staring at the beautiful pixie before them.
“How is this possible?” Oran asks. He bows his head in her direction, she smiles and nods her head back.
“No time to explain. I have pixies to round up and prepare for our journey home. I fear the war has started, so no more time to waste. Jackson, Ava, come with me. Pixie, do what you need to do.” My mother walks swiftly out the room, Ava giggles and Jackson just grins. For an old pixie, he’s not bad looking.
“What does she mean, you know what to do?” Felix asks, pulling me into his arm and kissing the top of my head.
“My mother says I’m not at my strongest.”
“Of course you are, we’ve seen how powerful you are. Your magic is like no other,” Zane says.
“She’s not, she needs to mate with Velour,” Oran says knowingly.
Mobsy huffs. “I have tried to already; she is not ready or willing.”
“Stop acting like a youngster. You are older than us. Get it done, I’m sorry for being harsh, but the pixies lands are at stake,” Zane replies.
“Don’t I get a say in who I am with? I thought we had this conversation before.” My hands rest on my hips as I glare at my mates. “But you are right.” I turn to Velour. I should stop calling him Mobsy, considering it’s not his name. “We need a few moments alone.”
“We don’t get to watch?” Felix says cheekily.
I just glare at him. “OK, point taken.” He holds up his hands in mock surrender. “We’ll leave, but we are just outside the door, if you need any assistance.” He waggles his eyebrows and I can’t help but giggle.
They leave the room, closing the door behind them. I stand with my arms folded. I hear him sigh. When I glance in his direction, I meet his eyes.
“Pixie, I don’t want to do anything you don’t want to do. We shouldn’t be forced into this; you shouldn’t be forced into this. I get that you don’t trust me. Tell me how to make this right.” He walks to me, pulling me attentively into a hug. “Please tell me, Pixie.”
“I don’t know even know if I’m mad at you anymore,” I say into his chest, “I just wish you told me sooner.”
“I know, and I wish I could. Everything had to happen for a reason. Like us coming here and finding your mother, finding a sister.”
“I get it, I really do. So many lies around this whole situation. I just want to trust you.”
“You can trust me. I promise you.”
“I know that too. I’m just frustrated and scared. Why is all this happening, why now?”
“The lands need peace Pixie, only you can do it. I know it’s a big weight on your shoulders, but I know you can do it.”
I smile up at him. “You really believe that, don’t you?”
“I do.” He lowers his head, so his lips are inches from mine. “May I kiss you?” I nod, bringing my lips to his.
The kiss is soft, sensual. His lips caress mine, moulding perfectly against my own. I thought kissing him would be hot and fierce, like his dragon. But he is surprisingly soft and gentle.
His hands go to my lower back, lifting my top to touch my skin. I gasp, my body suddenly on fire. My skin sensitive to his touch. His tongue dances with mine. My fingers go into his hair, pulling him closer to me. His hands cup my ass, pulling me up. I wrap my legs around his waist, my skirt hitching high up my thighs.
He moves towards the couch, laying me down gently. His body lays on top of me, our bodies flushed together. His mouth leaves mine, trailing kisses down my neck to my chest. He lifts up my top, removing it in one swift movement. He gazes down at my breasts, touching them softly. His eyes meet mine as he lowers his mouth, taking a nipple into his
warm mouth. He expertly swirls his tongue, nipping gently at the hardened peak. I watch him and he watches me. He moves to the other, doing the same. I groan, as he sucks and licks.
He shifts slightly, I hear a zipper. I glance down, my eyes widening at his length and girth. He is bigger than my other mates, not that I would tell them that. His mouth finds mine again. His fingers move up my thigh, moving my panties to one side. His hips thrust upwards, my core tightens around him, my centre adjusting to his size.
