We quickly stripped off our clothes. My cock was aching to be buried deep inside her. It had only been twenty-four hours, but it felt like months. I slipped my fingers between her legs. Fuck, she was so wet. A moan escaped her lips and she reached out to cling to me. I loved how responsive she was to my touch.

I inserted a finger into her pussy and stroked her clit with my thumb. My cock was throbbing, but nothing was going to rush this. I wanted to make her scream, call out my name, and beg me to fuck her hard.

Oh, fuck. I hope Carlton didn’t wire this cabin for video or sound.

Shannon sensed my concern and asked breathlessly, “Is…everything…all right?”

Fuck it. Carlton was a professional. If he heard anything he shouldn’t, he’d turn off the device. At least he’d better.

I slipped a second finger inside her and said, “Just deciding where to start.”

Shannon moaned and said, “Oh, that’s a…good….place.”

She quivered and opened her legs for me. She clawed my arms and bit my shoulder. I fucked her with my fingers until I felt her pussy clench and her body shudder. Her hot juices ran over my fingers.

I couldn’t hold back any longer. “Baby, I need to feel you wrapped around my cock.”

She spun around so her back was to me and wiggled her ass against my throbbing cock. I reached around her and cupped her breasts. Her nipples were as hard as my cock. I plucked and tugged at them. Shannon lifted one foot and put it on the bed, giving me full access to her.

I adjusted myself, bending my knees slightly until my cock slid between her folds. “Damn, Shannon I can’t wait.”

She reached between her legs and guided my cock inside of her. Fuck. I almost exploded as I felt her hot, welcoming pussy around my cock. She leaned over the bed and my hands now gripped her hips, each thrust deeper than the last. I pulled her harder and faster against me. The sound of our hot, wet flesh making contact echoed through the cabin.

“Oh, yes. Fuck me, Jace. Fuck me,” she begged.

I was lost. Like an animal I pounded my cock into her. She met me with equal force. “Oh fuck, baby. You…feel so…fucking…good,” I stammered.

I felt her body tensing, and her screams got louder. I felt her cum on my cock. Damn. I could barely hold my own release. It was almost painful, but when her body began to settle again I said, “Lay on the bed. I want to look in those beautiful eyes of yours as you cum.”

She laid on the bed and opened her legs. As I moved to lie between them, I realized I hadn’t used a condom. “Fuck!”

  “What’s the matter?”

“I didn’t use a condom.” Even though I hadn’t cum yet, the risk was still there.

“I’m on the pill. It’s okay.”

I’ve never been so reckless, and if any other woman said those words to me, I wouldn’t believe them. I had a lot to lose, and I wasn’t about to fuck up so someone could take half, if not more, of it. But Shannon wasn’t just any woman. She was the woman I’d given everything to once before. We might not be in love, but I still trusted her completely.

I slipped my cock deep inside her. There was nothing like that skin to skin contact. As I entered her again and again, I watched her eyes turn so dark they were almost black. “Yes, baby, give it to me. Let me feel you cum on my cock.”

I pumped into her harder and faster. My cock begged to release but I wanted our climax to be one.

“Yes, oh Jace, please….” she said. Her body thrashed from side to side and her hips lifted off the bed. Her legs tensed. As her pussy clenched around my cock I exploded deep within her. My legs trembled and my arms threatened not to hold my own weight. Again and again, I buried myself in her until the pulsing ceased.

I rolled to one side and collapsed beside her. My entire body tingled in a way I couldn’t explain. This hadn’t been fucking, although it was fucking amazing. We made love. How could this connection between us be stronger than it had been before? It felt so right and so wrong at the same time.

This is where I would’ve held her in my arms and told her how much I loved her. But those were words I swore I’d never utter again. I’ve made promises to myself and I haven’t broken any of them yet. I’m not about to now.

Grabbing the blanket, I covered us and said, “That was amazing.” She snuggled against me and closed her eyes. I kissed her forehead.

  You feel like…home.

  Chapter 11

  Shannon

I wasn’t sure this cabin was a good idea. But after last night, I had to admit the place had its charm. It wasn’t about where we were, but the fact that we were together. It made suffering through the lack of amenities, like a functioning toilet, more bearable.

Jace had gone out for a walk early. I offered to go with him, but he suggested I stay in and sleep late. Once he was gone, I couldn’t close my eyes again. Lying there doing nothing didn’t appeal to me, either. So I got up and started the woodstove to boil some water. There was a makeshift shower behind the cabin. I’d love to wait for Jace to return so we could shower together, but with the limited hot water, I decided to take a quick one alone.

The nice thing about being in the middle of nowhere, you could walk around naked and not have to worry about anyone seeing you. I stripped down, grabbed the body wash and headed outside. The sun was up, and its warmth felt good on my cool skin. A few degrees warmer and I might actually consider some nude sunbathing.

As I suspected, the hot water ran out long before I was ready. I dried myself with a towel and then wrapped my hair up in it. Standing in front of the cabin, I waved at Jace making his way back up the path.

“What the hell are you doing outside like that?” he shouted, running in my direction.

“I took a shower,” I answered, not sure why it bothered him so much.

“You do know you’re naked, right?” he asked.

I chuckled. “No. I have a towel.” I pointed to my head. He looked around in the woods and I added, “Don’t worry. I made sure the bears weren’t watching.”

He turned and glared at me. “That’s not funny. Please go inside.”

I put my hands on my hips and said, “When did you get to be such a stick in the mud?”

He looked shocked. “I’m talking about safety.”

“If it’s dangerous, why did you bring me here?” I challenged.

Jace ushered me back into the cabin and said, “It’s not dangerous, but you never know when a hunter or hiker decides to stroll by.”

I thought he was joking, until I saw the look in his eyes. He really was worried that someone might see me in my birthday suit. I smiled and said, “You have a point. Next time I’ll bring two towels.”

“Better yet, maybe you wait for me and I’ll keep an eye open.”

  “Or join me?” I teased.

Jace crossed his arms and said, “How much action do you think we’re going to get with a cold shower?”

I laughed. “I’d say we could try it to find out, but I think I’ll pass.” I pulled on a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. No need for a bra out here. “I was just about to make some breakfast. Are you hungry?”

“Starving. Do you want me to make coffee?” he offered.

“Already done.” I pointed to the pot on the woodstove. “I’m warning you now, it might be a bit strong.”

He poured himself a cup and coughed when he took a sip. “A little strong? You might want to reconsider having any. This is so thick it’s like tar.”

“It can’t be that bad.” I took his cup and tried a sip. I could barely swallow it. “God, that’s awful.”

“Maybe I should make breakfast,” he teased.

“Don’t trust me with peanut butter and jelly?”

“You have to put the right amount of jelly or the whole thing is ruined,” he smiled.

I grabbed the loaf of bread off the table and threw it at him. “You’re horrible, Jace Goldstein.”

“Don’t be mad. I’m only doing breakfast because it’s easy. Yo
u can make lunch.”

“That’s fine. Instead of peanut butter and jelly, I’m going to make jelly and peanut butter.”

“Maybe I should’ve brought more canned goods,” he laughed.

“Unfortunately, you brought plenty. How many baked beans do you think a person can eat? I knew I should’ve gone into the store with you. At least we would’ve had a variety.”

“We do. There are several different kinds of beans. And three kinds of jelly as well. Remember, this is roughing it.”

I crossed my arms and asked, “Did you bring those fishing poles? Because I think we might need to expand our menu.”

“I don’t recall either one of us ever catching anything worth eating,” he reminded. “Guess we’re going to starve.”

I walked over to my backpack and dumped out the contents. I had filled it with protein and chocolate bars. “Don’t worry. I prepared. Remember, I worked in developing nations. I know how to pack when someone says ‘roughing it’.”

Jace walked over and grabbed a chocolate bar. “Okay, I concede. Next time, you pack the food.”

Next time? Things were amazing between us, but there was something about Jace that made me feel as though I needed to live in the moment, that nothing beyond now was guaranteed. Maybe I had read that wrong. But if he didn’t break it off, I’d be leaving on assignment. The result was the same. Eventually, we would part ways. And each day we were together would only make saying goodbye all the more difficult.

Don’t fall back in love with him. My heart can’t heal a second time.

I needed to think about something else. If I spent the entire vacation thinking about the end, I wouldn’t enjoy the present. Forcing a smile, I said, “I don’t see those sandwiches making themselves. Or have you decided on a chocolate bar for breakfast?”

He tore the paper and took a bite. “I like your suggestion.”

“Wait. I didn’t suggest one over the other,” I said firmly.

As he took another bit he said, “It sounded like it to me.”

I pulled my T-shirt back over my head and then unzipped my shorts and let them drop to the floor. “What do you think I’m suggesting now?” Jace took another bite of the chocolate bar and pretended not to be interested. I knew better. I ran my hands over my breasts and down my hips. He watched closely. “I think I’m getting hungry myself. You wouldn’t have anything I could…eat?” I said as seductively as I could.

Jace tossed the rest of the chocolate bar on the table and pulled me into his arms. “I’m starved.”

“Hmm. Sounds like we’ll have to…eat together,” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck.

It didn’t seem as though Jace wanted me out on any adventures, but if I had to spend the next two weeks locked away in a cabin being made love to, I wasn’t going to complain.

If this is ‘roughing it,’ I’ll be happy to suffer through any day.

  Chapter 12

  Jace

“I’m not one who waits for someone else to make a move. I act and force their hand,” I said to Carlton.

  “What you’re suggesting is…illegal.”

“Only if I get caught. And I’m not asking you to do it. I just wanted to let you know what I’m working on.” Prince Babboo held all the cards right now. Protecting Shannon was Carlton’s job. And taking down the asshole who was out to hurt her was now mine.

“You’re not dealing with just one man. His father won’t tolerate you messing with them financially. The last thing we need is an entire country after us.”

“That’s because you believe they’ll be able to track this back to any of us. This program will be written in a way that makes Babboo look like the guilty one. When the dear old King wants answers, all eyes will be on Babboo. He’ll be spending so much time backpedaling and trying to explain himself to his father that Shannon will be the last person on his mind.”

“And you’re doing all this on your own?” Carlton asked.

“I have a friend who will assist me in planting the information in their system.”

Carlton glared at me and said, “I thought I told you no one is supposed to know about this.”

  “I trust Gabe.”

  “Gabe?”

“Gabe Turchetta. He used to write programming for Homeland Security. Now he and his brothers have gone out on their own.”

  “He’s a hacker?”

I shook my head. “They’re the good guys. Trust me, the only reason Gabe is even agreeing to help in this situation is because of what that asshole is doing to Shannon. He and his brothers have banded together ‘in the name of justice,’ as I was told.”

Gabe and I had crossed paths a few years ago when we were working on similar projects. He was developing security software that needed a unique type of coding. My job was to see if I could unencrypt it and get in the back door. That’s how I knew Gabe was the talented bastard I needed to help me pull this off.

“When did you reach out to him?” Carlton asked.

I laughed. “After talking to you yesterday.” I smiled, knowing that puzzled him. “You made the mistake of telling me you put a block on my phone. You seem to have forgotten that my computer skills far exceed yours.”

“Fuck, Jace. There was a damn good reason for my blocking yours,” he snarled, running his hands through his hair anxiously. “You could’ve just put us all in danger.”

I stared at him. “My weapon of choice might be different from yours, Carlton, but trust me, it can be lethal.” I’ve never used my skills to take someone down before. Then again, no one had ever given me a reason to. Although I couldn’t stand Ralph Hamel, I knew that what he’d done years ago was because he loved Shannon. Babboo was a different story. I’d done my research now – Shannon wasn’t the first woman he’d gone after. Yet what happened to the other women after he tired of them was still unknown. It sickened me to think of what might have happened to Shannon if she hadn’t made it back to the States. Shannon was a fighter. No way would she ever have submitted to a piece of shit like Babboo. If Ralph hadn’t picked up on the fact she was in danger and hired Carlton to protect her, she most likely wouldn’t be alive now. I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Babboo doesn’t ever get his hands on her.

“I’ve trusted you, Carlton. Now I need you to do the same.”

Carlton shook his head but responded, “I wish you had told me before acting on this. But you have my support. Before you and Gabe press Play on this, clue me in. I don’t need any more surprises. And neither does my team.”

“You should be hearing from Gabe shortly. He’s going to utilize a local satellite to expand the range on the heat monitors.”

“When you say utilize, you mean –”

“Some things you don’t want to know, Carlton.” I knew damn well what Gabe and I were doing was illegal. If we got caught, it would very likely end in a prison sentence. But with the right programming, I knew we could cover our tracks. The longer we needed to access these types of systems, the greater the risk of getting noticed. We need to move up the timeframe.

“Two weeks is too long,” I said. “I’m thinking we move forward within the next seventy-two hours. Sooner, if possible.”

“How do you expect to be able to pull that off and keep Shannon from finding out?”

I’m going to make love to her all night and let her sleep during the day. “Let me worry about that. You just be ready.” I turned to head back to the cabin, and looked back at Carlton one last time. “When you talk to Gabe, don’t give him the third degree. I’m all the reference you need,” I warned. And I can’t afford to lose him.

Could I do this on my own? Probably. But why would I risk it when someone I already trust wrote the programs that we need to hack into?

As I walked back to the cabin, I saw Shannon outside. I waved to her and she called out. “I was getting worried about you.”

“Don’t worry. I’m not about to get eaten by a bear,” I joked.

  She crossed her arms. “I
m not joking. And it’s not a bear that I’m worried about. I…I thought I saw someone in the woods.”

Fuck! One of Carlton’s men must’ve gotten too close. “Probably a deer or a moose. Better watch out. It’s mating season for them.”

“I know the difference between an animal and a human.”

“Maybe it was Bigfoot,” I teased. When she glared at me, I asked, “Where did you see it?” She pointed off to the right. I was going to need to warn Carlton about that. For now I said, “Well, you are correct. You saw a human. It was me.”

“You? What were you doing over there?”

Forcing a laugh, I said, “Marking my territory.”

“Peeing on a tree? Really? All the way over there?” she asked.

  “It’s a guy thing,” I said.

She rolled her eyes at me and said, “I don’t think I even want to know what else you guys do out there.”

Smiling I answered, “Probably for the best you don’t.”

  Chapter 13

  Shannon

I know Jace said it was him in the woods, but the hairs on the back of my neck wouldn’t go down. Someone else was out there, I could feel it. Granted, it was hunting season and what better place to hunt than here, deep in the woods? But I hadn’t heard gunshots the whole time we’d been here.

Normally I wouldn’t give it a second thought, but between Jace acting strange and Babboo’s call, my nerves were shot. It might just be paranoia, but that didn’t mean I could just relax. If Jace doesn’t want to take it seriously, then I’ll have to.

There’s a good reason Jace wasn’t concerned about some crazy person stalking me. I hadn’t told him about Prince Babboo. We were just getting to know each other all over again. Why should I bring up a huge mistake I had made? It was in the past and that’s where Babboo was staying.

But I learned from that mistake. I still travel and do my job, but I do not get close to anyone. In a way it’s sad, because I’ve built a wall around myself. I pretend to have my old carefree spirit, when in fact I’m anything but. I’m only a shard of the woman I used to be. And whether I wanted to admit it or not, this proved that Prince Babboo still held power over me. I’m not sure it will ever go away.
