VOCABULARY & EXPRESSIONS

제가 I(subject) 뮤지컬 musical 맘마미마 Mamma Mia
예매하다 to book a ticket / buy a ticket in advance

무슨 what 취직했어요[취지캐써요] I got a job 취직하다 to get a job
안녕히 가세요 Goodbye(please go in peace)
우리
우리 means ‘we’ or ‘our’. Traditionally Koreans like the term 우리 and use it often. This is because Korean communal family culture has influenced the Korean language. So we use 우리(our) instead of 내 / 제(my); for example, we use 우리 집 to mean ‘my house’, 우리 엄마 for ‘my mom’, and 우리 남편 for ‘my husband’. Don’t misunderstand, though: Korea is a monogamous society.

① 같이 저녁 식사 할까요?
같이[가치] is ‘together’ and –(으)ㄹ까요? is ‘Shall we~?’. So, 같이 저녁 식사 할까요? is ‘Shall we eat dinner together?’.
② 무슨 뮤지컬 볼까요?
무슨 is ‘what’ before noun. So 무슨 뮤지컬 볼까요? is ‘What musical shall we watch?’.
③ 제가 한턱낼게요.
한턱내다 means ‘to treat someone (to a meal) upon a special occasion’, such as getting a promotion or passing an examination. So 제가 한턱낼게요 is ‘I will treat you’. Here, 제 is the humble version of ‘I’. Lately, young people often say 내가 쏠게요(literally, ‘I’ll shoot it’) instead of 한턱낼게요.
④ 취직했어요.
취직하다 is ‘get a job’, 취직했어요 is the past tense of this verb. We’ll study past tense in detail later(Unit 24).
